Got a sample of perfume and I am in LOVE. This one https://www.harveynichols.com/mizensir/ambre-magique-100ml-893018-84657/?source=shoppingads&gclid=CjwKCAjws9ipBhB1EiwAccEi1BHHazHuJs4-yqCIf18YiOiE6twshFZYH5uRCF6y0O8jBKgR6m4XxoCSfUQAvDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But .. £265!! I'd be unreasonable to even ask for this for Christmas would I!
Have any of you ever got any perfumes that high price? Do they last longer etc?

I love armani gold and gaultier classique.
Got the gold in duty free, but I can't smell it on my at all.
Gaultier is more expensive since I last bought it, but I can smell it all day.

crankit · 01/11/2023 21:04

Don't perfumes all smell different on different people?

MadamVastra · 01/11/2023 21:05

I absolutely love perfume. We should share pics of our stash! I have collected loads over the years . I don't keep the boxes I keep them in a drawer out of the sunlight. Shame really as some of the bottles are lovely

This is true. But you do get to be part of a club where women stop you in the street to ask your perfume and that’s quite exciting 😄

I get that from my workhorse - SJP lovely that I buy in B&M 🤣

Littlelucas · 01/11/2023 21:07

I have wanted a bottle of Tom Fords rose prick for ages but I just can't bring myself to pay £200+ for perfume.

I will happily spend £1000+ on a bag/coat/shoes that I've coveted for a while though! I just don't like spending more than £100 or so on perfume - I think it's because it's not something you can see it's just a nice smell and there are loads of nice perfumes out there. Most of them don't last long either so I'd definitely get a sample first. I wanted Penhaligans halfeti after smelling it on someone else but when I bought a small vial it didn't last 5 minutes.

That’s the drug! I splurged on a Miller Harris a few years ago and was blown away by all the compliments, even at the end of the day when I’d spritzed it on first thing in the morning. Mind blown.

Miller Harris is the absolute best. I have L'air de Rien which was specially created for Jane Birkin. I have been wearing it for the past twelve years, and every so often go on Ebay to grab a bottle of the pre-reformulation version.

I love 'Diorling' by Dior. I've never owned it but I wish I could. Anyone else enjoy this perfume?
I have to make do with 'Vogue' by Milton Lloyd which is a dupe for Chanel no. 5, luckily it's good.

WeAreBorg · 01/11/2023 23:11

Definitely buy that perfume, just think how luxurious and expensive you’ll feel.
I also wear POAL and Santal 33 just like the others on this thread (pssst guys we need to buy new perfumes!)

Love the assassin’s creed perfume idea. Eau de Hogwarts Legacy would be my choice.

MrsNK28 · 01/11/2023 23:18

Yup. I’m an perfume addict. I got more or less 30 perfumes around that price range. But my favorite are love baccarat rouge 540, perfume de marly delina. My most expensive i think roja amber oud its close to £600 🫣🫣. If you can afford it and it makes you happy go for it.

καλοκαλoκαιρι · 02/11/2023 00:40

just pray you’re not like me … loved a perfume i got as a gift but it was 200 quid so couldnt justify buying it again when it ran out. used dupes for a while then got some gift vouchers at work and treated myself to the real thing… only to get scent blindness two weeks into the bottle and cant smell the bastard thing on me at all any more 🙄

regularmumnotacoolmum · 02/11/2023 00:53

Not unreasonable at all! One spritz goes a long way with these oil rich fragrances. They last a long while x

Sounds similar to the Tilda Swinton perfume.

Love the description. Very autumnal.

Perfume is antisocial and wearing it in public can do everything from making other people feel temporarily unwell to putting them in the hospital. It absolutely is not worth spending that much money on.

myopinionmatters · 02/11/2023 01:47

If I could afford I would. Most I spent was 80

Could be argued smelling horrible is anti social.

Perfume causes reactions that can land people in the hospital.

Op might as well have come on here and said she tried a sample of some expensive cigarettes and wants to know if she is justified in asking for some for Christmas.

People can be odor free without scent.

Tighginn · 02/11/2023 04:58

Will this matter in ten years?

I hate perfumes and aftershaves, I can taste them more than I can smell them.

QuizzlyBears · 02/11/2023 05:37

I wear Penhaligons Luna, it’s around £220 a bottle but lasts me about 18 months on average. It’s also sometimes available in duty free which is nice! Do it, OP. You’ll be glad you did!

intherough · 02/11/2023 06:05

Loubelle70 · 02/11/2023 06:13

I would buy it 😁. I have expensive perfumes. Maybe 2k worth 😲. Its my indulgence though.

Lol , in hospital? Really?

Id rather smell nice perfume than people smelling of b.o......theres a lot of b.o about and it aint me lol

speakout · 02/11/2023 06:57

I can't get excited at perfumes- even the expensive ones are made from petrochemicals.
Most contain chemicals that happen to smell ok, but are synthesised in industrial plants and can have effects on our bodies and environment.
