Got a sample of perfume and I am in LOVE. This one https://www.harveynichols.com/mizensir/ambre-magique-100ml-893018-84657/?source=shoppingads&gclid=CjwKCAjws9ipBhB1EiwAccEi1BHHazHuJs4-yqCIf18YiOiE6twshFZYH5uRCF6y0O8jBKgR6m4XxoCSfUQAvDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But .. £265!! I'd be unreasonable to even ask for this for Christmas would I!
Have any of you ever got any perfumes that high price? Do they last longer etc?

I've been in a proper perfume shop selling the ultra expensive perfumes. They are a million times better than anything in a department store. If I had the money I'd buy one.

justalittlesnoel · 01/11/2023 18:48

I'm an absolute perfume obsessive, I have so many bottles on the go (all stored properly!) and I love smelling someone new and finding a new scent.

If you can afford it, do it!

paulhollywoodshairgel · 01/11/2023 18:49

I'd ask all my family members for Harvey nicks vouchers for Christmas and hope I got enough 😂😂

smilesup · 01/11/2023 19:00

Personally I hate that the smell of all perfume so much to save myself hundreds of pounds over the years 😁

Lifeomars · 01/11/2023 19:16

I love perfume, the most I have ever spent has been around the £60 mark. I think you generally get what you pay for in terms of depth of the scent and how long it lasts. If you can afford it, go for it. Our sense of smell is so strongly linked to our memories, there are a couple of perfumes I used to wear in my youth and just one sniff transports me back to those days. It's similar to music, smell and sound can be like tickets for time travel

Motnight · 01/11/2023 19:17

Buy it if you can afford it, Op. It will bring you great joy!

£265 for gunk from a skunk's anal gland ......... why, just why?

Do you know Ambergris is whale vomit?

Edited

I thought ambergris was banned these days. Amber and ambergris are not the same at all.

mugboat · 01/11/2023 19:52

I literally can't stop thinking about Assassins Creed perfume and laughing out loud. My kids think I've finally flipped.

You can still sell it if you find a lump of it washed up on a beach.

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/11/2023 19:59

My favourite perfume is £90 for 100ml. I don't wear it every day!

Me too 🤣🤣🤣

SkyFullofStars1975 · 01/11/2023 20:15

DH bought me Creed Windflower for Christmas last year, and it's been worth every penny (£275). It only needs one spray, lasts all day and doesn't give me a nauseous headache like so many others.
I bought a bottle of Michael Kors last month, and gave it to DD the next day as it made me feel queasy all day wearing it. That was £80 wasted.

If you really love it and you can afford it, then def get it. I have a perfume I absolutely love that costs £600 🙈 It makes me feel fabulous wearing it, one or two squirts last all day, so a bottle lasts me a year or two. I don’t wear it every day obviously, I also have much cheaper perfumes I wear day to day. But I just love the smell of it, it makes me really happy. Life is too short to not do little things to treat yourself every now and then (as long as you don’t go without in other areas.)

£600!! What is it ? That is a lot of money, but about what a good coat would cost .

my husbands favourite is assassins creed. I usually get him a bottle once a year. It’s roughly
£220

Is that you mum? 😂

Assassin’s Creed is a PlayStation game!

though I can imagine it smelling smoky, with tobacco and amber notes

Bichonmum · 01/11/2023 20:24

I have spent between £100-£150 on perfume, the last one was Van Cleef and Arpels Precious Oud. They last for a long time but only I do wear them for best. I have copies that I use for every day use.

TheValueOfEverything · 01/11/2023 20:30

My favourite is J’adore by Dior and I’ve been buying it for twenty years but now wondering if it’s still as good. I love the scent though. Any similar recommendations - maybe it’s an excuse to try something higher end!

Slav80 · 01/11/2023 20:32

Perfumes last a long time, so my rule is if you spread the cost over the lifetime of a product, does it feel so bad, for example you can go out and spend £100 on a steak dinner enjoying it for an hour, or you can buy a perfume for the same price enjoying it for longer, so it's more like an investment. Having said that, I wouldn't ask someone to buy it for me, perhaps try to save up a bit from something else - lattes, going out, etc.

maw29 · 01/11/2023 20:38

I spend that on portrait of a lady. A couple of sprays and it really does last all day.

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 01/11/2023 20:47

Girl math. £295 sprayed once a day for 365 days is then 0.80p a day.

So after 1 year its basically free..... 🤣

I'm only joking. I like the asking for vouchers and then top up yourself if you still don't have enough

VenusClapTrap · 01/11/2023 20:47

The trouble with super expensive perfumes is that once you start, you can’t go back to the mainstream ones. So beware!

BoobyDazzler · 01/11/2023 20:54

I’m hoping for some Armani Privè Malachite for Christmas but I’ve got a very convincing dupe so won’t be too upset if not 🤣

I don’t think there’s any such thing as an expensive smell or that anyone would sniff anyone and go “cor, they’re rich”.

Tom Ford perfumes smell lovely but their longevity is shite. You’re better off buying a dupe. Not worth the £200 price tag. At all.

This is true. But you do get to be part of a club where women stop you in the street to ask your perfume and that’s quite exciting 😄

I reckon if assassin's creed were the name of shampoo, shower gel and body spray, I might actually get ds to smell decent!

Deadringer · 01/11/2023 20:58

I would keep looking (sniffing?) til I found a cheaper one that I liked as much. But if you love it and have that kind of money to spare why not?
