I’ve had 1989 TV on all day and she’s just magic 🥰

Sorry to be the first responder but I don’t think I’ve ever heard any of her songs

DojaPhat · 27/10/2023 19:46

In the same way a McDonald's cheeseburger and fries is a once in a lifetime meal.

Floralnomad · 27/10/2023 19:49

No , there are plenty of good songwriters about in her generation.

HarlanPepper · 27/10/2023 19:49

@DojaPhat oh, come on. I'm not fan myself, but that's just an objectively stupid thing to say.

AlisonDonut · 27/10/2023 19:49

I've not heard one song of hers.

This is quite impressive in a weird way 🤣 I recommend you try some!

Yes, you are

Zingy123 · 27/10/2023 19:50

I completely disagree. I don't see the attraction.

Julen7 · 27/10/2023 19:51

Are you serious?

TheSecretHistoryOfGoldfinchTartt · 27/10/2023 19:51

I agree OP. She’s such a talent. Waiting excitedly to see her in London and Edinburgh next year.

I do think there are lots of good songwriters, but I don’t personally think anyone currently making music has been as lyrically impressive as she has consistently been for about 15 years now

I’m seeing her in London too! Absolutely thrilling for it.

Deadly serious!

I am not enough of a Swiftie to see her live but I love those of her songs that I know - I think she's a very clever, insightful songwriter.

Newuser75 · 27/10/2023 19:53

I think she is very talented certainly. And still exceptionally popular as the tocket sales on the tour next year has shown!

Fair enough 😎

Oblomov23 · 27/10/2023 19:55

Talented. But as a showman, I don 't rate her as a songwriter particularly,

itsmylife7 · 27/10/2023 19:56

AlisonDonut · 27/10/2023 19:49

I've not heard one song of hers.

Same here.
I only listen to 70s and 80s radio stations.
Don't watch TV much.

I've heard of her but never listened to her music.
Will have a listen on YouTube.... and report back. 😀

tunapokebowl · 27/10/2023 19:56

Wow some very negative comments. Yes of course she is, you don't get that popular without being very very good.

Her covid albums were my favs, but there's something for everyone

NeverTalksToStrangers2 · 27/10/2023 19:56

She's absolutely incredible.

Itwasamemo2 · 27/10/2023 19:58

Think Ed Sheeran is far more talented.

FrodoBagginsToeHair · 27/10/2023 20:00

Ed Sheeran has a much bigger range of ability when it comes to writing. So no, she’s not once in a generation

PlusOneTwoThree · 27/10/2023 20:01

I quite like her, my daughter loves her but I couldn’t get tickets for less than £1200 so unfortunately we have to have lots of concerts in the kitchen

Her songs are easy to sing along to and usually have some kind of catchy hook
However I don’t rate her as an amazing songwriter no
I think the reason she appeals to so many teenage girls is because she writes like one

I mean - “sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby, and I’m a monster on the hill” … what?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jk987 · 27/10/2023 20:02

Sounds like she's too young and beautiful for some of the mumsnet readers! She's a great artist and performer and I would love to see her live! I like Trouble best.
