I’ve had 1989 TV on all day and she’s just magic 🥰

Well Peaky you will be sad to hear at dds girls school (two dds 15 and 17) whether she is liked or not is not even up for discussion. Everyone loves her. Girls of every type - she’s universal.

One of her songs references 29th April (what were you doing in 29th April) dds discussing this just now. On 1st August they all listen to August etc.

I have girls too. They don’t love her. She’s meh at best. It’s most definitely up for discussion at their school - as it should be anywhere where independent thought is encouraged!

Not met any girls like that round here. Mine have quite eclectic music tastes but Taylor is always still up there - just so good.

I don't think she's writing for younger girls these days. I know the 11-14 year old girls I know prefer her older stuff. Her recent stuff is way more gothy, indie, emo, the kind of stuff you can imagine Wednesday Addams listening to! Also it contains a lot more sex and swearing than it used to.

None of her songs " speak" to me. I can think about so many better song writers/melodists. Amy Winehouse springs to mind but then again Dire Straits too. Prince. David Bowie. Janis Joplin. I don't know, there are so so many... My musical tastes are very eclectic but I think I recognise good lyrics and melodies, and she just sounds extremely bland to my ears.

You don't connect with her writing, that's all. Millions do. Especially the girls and gays. And especially the emo ones!

I like all the artists you mention, and others besides. But I also love TS, because she's a brilliant writer and storyteller, and she writes unbelievably catchy songs. She's absolutely not bland - just not to your taste!
