Most unusual Christmas present request?

(I’ve already typed this but for some reason it wouldn’t upload so apologies if this appears twice. I’m trying to cheer myself up whilst waiting for some results)

what’s the most unusual Christmas present your DC have asked for?
my DD asked for a purple dinosaur that goes in the bath when she was two but no dinosaur we casually showed her was the one she was talking about. Eventually found one in the pound shop which was the one she had meant apparently!
this year she has asked for a typewriter?!

A doorbell 😂
because we wouldn’t allow him to ring the doorbell all day so he thought if he had his own he could ring it whenever he likes

Hellocatshome · 24/10/2023 17:55

A monkey in a box and a doorstop.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 24/10/2023 17:56

A potato. He pinched a raw one when he was about 2 and bit in to it raw but we told him he couldn’t so he wanted his own. Also coco pops (this one has lasted years, loves ‘special’ cereal)

GoodAsHell · 24/10/2023 17:57

Blutac

Blutac

This made me laugh as I found that in my daughters locket necklace there is her treasured piece of blutac?!

Dd1 asked for a real invisibility cloak about 12 years ago, before you could buy those green screen ones. From my searching at the time I could have pursued with NASA to see if they could have made me one for a few million 😂

nancy75 · 24/10/2023 18:00

A conveyer belt like they have in the airport & an art thing that projected your pictures.
I searched EVERYWHERE for the art thing, after much questioning of Dd about what it was & where to get it she told us she knew it as real, she had seen it in her head!!

A rollercoaster for the garden - DS(4)

Fond memories of the wall of doorbells in John Lewis basement of which we were allowed to press one per visit.

DD once asked for another magic wand, as the one she'd been given for her birthday "didn't actually work"

Jewelspun · 24/10/2023 18:04

My son from the age of 4 -8 always wanted one of these -

spinspinsugar55 · 24/10/2023 18:06

Not particularly unusual, but sweet and simple. My ds when 5 asked for a can of Fanta alongside his request for cars 😁

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 24/10/2023 18:07

The art thing is a bloody good idea, can't imagine it's that difficult to make actually (dragons den!)
Mine wanted a walking stick on Christmas Eve morning at peak believing age. Couldn't believe it when we found one at a local shop full of sweeties later in that morning. She was so impressed on Xmas morning.

CMOTDibbler · 24/10/2023 18:07

A 'teach yourself viking' book. I did eventually find him a book on old norse, but it was v difficult

Stressedgiraffe · 24/10/2023 18:09

Dd wants a tarantula. Not that unusual but I hate spiders. Xmas will be fun

widowtwankywashroom · 24/10/2023 18:11

A real whale!
Pair of ski's. We live in Manchester and have never ski in our lives

BeyondMyWits · 24/10/2023 18:17

A "real live monkey, not a big one, so it will not take up too much room" , "that is all I want, and it can be for my birthday as well as Christmas ", "okay?", "but don't wrap it up because I don't think it would like that very much"

Such a sweet request, I felt so mean to refuse.

Daffyyellow · 24/10/2023 18:23

4 year DD wanted a feather mattress topper. She got it and still uses it every night!

Igglepiggleandhisboat · 24/10/2023 18:24

These are so cute!!
This year both DC have asked for trickier presents and followed it up with “don’t worry if you can’t get it for me, Santa makes his own toys so will be able to make it”!

A big pirate ship.., he’s 3 and just discovered Jake and the Neverland pirates.
Small problem- our house is tiny and we don’t have a pool 😂

I've shared this before but it still makes me smile. David Attenborough. The actual man. Christmas and birthday. Three years running.

AlpacaMaJammas · 24/10/2023 18:38

3 Yr old DD2: a poisonous fish

holachicatita · 24/10/2023 18:39

A tenner. When my son was 5 that is literally all he wanted.

DixonD · 24/10/2023 18:40

A combination padlock and chain (she was 6).

Also, a wig! She has lots of thick blonde hair 😂

She got the padlock but I’ve managed to avoid buying the wig so far!

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 24/10/2023 18:43

Son when he was 3 - "a green bowling ball, a boy toy cat and a ghost".

Daughter age 4 (this year) - "a ski lift like the one you step into and chocolate milk. But that special chocolate milk."

I have no idea what the chocolate milk is.
