Most unusual Christmas present request?

(I’ve already typed this but for some reason it wouldn’t upload so apologies if this appears twice. I’m trying to cheer myself up whilst waiting for some results)

what’s the most unusual Christmas present your DC have asked for?
my DD asked for a purple dinosaur that goes in the bath when she was two but no dinosaur we casually showed her was the one she was talking about. Eventually found one in the pound shop which was the one she had meant apparently!
this year she has asked for a typewriter?!

Son when he was 3 - "a green bowling ball, a boy toy cat and a ghost".

Daughter age 4 (this year) - "a ski lift like the one you step into and chocolate milk. But that special chocolate milk."

I have no idea what the chocolate milk is.

Has she seen a ski lift on TV? Does she mean the melted chocolate drink they have in ski resorts?

When one of my GDs was about 6, she asked for "toy ants". I got her some from Amazon Grin

A pencil with a rubber on the end. And to drive past the tip!

When my youngest daughter was 5 she asked for a sparkly Unicorn, I duly obliged, and she told me it was no good because it wasn't alive, and then chucked it in the wardrobe.

A big pirate ship.., he’s 3 and just discovered Jake and the Neverland pirates.
Small problem- our house is tiny and we don’t have a pool 😂

You need to borrow my friends husband, he built their grand daughter a pirate ship in the back garden, all made out of recycled wood, with a gangplank for walking, a mast, a steering wheel ( is that what they are called) . It is amazing, I wish he was my grandad!

My son asked for a rugby try line.

DwarfPlanetFiend · 24/10/2023 18:52

My dad once requested some paraffin.

When my twin nephews were about 8, one of them had requested a bow tie and pair of white gloves. It became more clear when the 2nd one requested a snooker table. 1st twin wanted to be the guy who set up and polished the balls like on the TV snooker games.

My dds only item on the list when she was about five was a money box dispenser that paid out mini chocolate bars. I found one! She is still a pain in the neck to buy presents for even though she is all grown up, funnily enough she rarely if ever eats chocolate these days ( weird).

My son asked for a bear trap to put in his bedroom doorway. Possibly something to do with his little sister starting to walk!

Tigger83 · 24/10/2023 18:54

Spider-Man on a motorbike playing music. Found it on some dodgy Chinese website and it is the most annoying toy he owns. Completely made up in his head too 🙄

Blutac

Snap. DS is 27 now but I always get him some for Christmas!

Theoldcuriosityshop · 24/10/2023 18:54

I remember asking my teenage grandson what he wanted and his answer was Just Cheese thanks. Grin

DahliaJ · 24/10/2023 18:54

A crystal ball, when he was about 5.

A Harry Potter broom, but one that ‘really flies’.

Danikm151 · 24/10/2023 18:56

@viques that would be amazing but alas I think I’m handier at DIY than our male relatives 😂

frazzledasarock · 24/10/2023 18:57

Blu tac and post it notes is all my dc wanted for years. She still gets very excited if i buy her funny shaped or pretty coloured post it packet…. She’s 20.

A "real live monkey, not a big one, so it will not take up too much room" , "that is all I want, and it can be for my birthday as well as Christmas ", "okay?", "but don't wrap it up because I don't think it would like that very much"

Such a sweet request, I felt so mean to refuse.

How old is he will a fingerling monkey be acceptable?

Phlewf · 24/10/2023 19:02

A pasta maker, the kind with the crank handle.

that was a fun Christmas morning, trying to get the sprouts sorted and making thinner and thinner pasta with a 7 year old.

Sparklybanana · 24/10/2023 19:04

A cauliflower.
I decided to serve it up rather than wrap it up.

RicherThanYews · 24/10/2023 19:05

My 10 year old this year wants to visit his old infant school and see his class again. Sorry son 😂😂

My daughter asked for a pineapple ❤️

BigBoysDontCry · 24/10/2023 19:12

Ds1 aged about 4 was asked by Santa when in the grotto what he'd like. He said he would like a lamp please. Santa clutching at straws asked if it was a magic lamp like Alladin. "nope, just a lamp like from Argos"

DontListenToWhatYouveConsumed · 24/10/2023 19:18

My dd asked my mum for a hedgehog. A real one.
She got a toy one but it wasn't what she really wanted (although wouldn't say that to her Nana)
