Most unusual Christmas present request?

(I’ve already typed this but for some reason it wouldn’t upload so apologies if this appears twice. I’m trying to cheer myself up whilst waiting for some results)

what’s the most unusual Christmas present your DC have asked for?
my DD asked for a purple dinosaur that goes in the bath when she was two but no dinosaur we casually showed her was the one she was talking about. Eventually found one in the pound shop which was the one she had meant apparently!
this year she has asked for a typewriter?!

Not my DC but my nephew, he was about two , a bag of potatoes - he was insistent so I bought them on Xmas eve and wrapped them he was so excited on Xmas day when he opened them……turned out he wanted to do potato printing like he did at nursery and didn’t realise we could just buy potatoes at any time 😂

Dd wants a tarantula. Not that unusual but I hate spiders. Xmas will be fun

a pineapple. requested by my DD when she was about 6/7. managed to find one to fit inside the top of her stocking she was thrilled— and then managed to drag the joke on well into her teens by buying pineapple themed stuff every year for her stocking by such as a pineapple lip balm, another year stationery with pineapples on and even some
pineapple print knickers one year.

A friend’s 6yo asked for a smoke alarm for Christmas after a fireman came to his school.

Sauvblanctime · 25/10/2023 12:10

My 6yo asked for a real tattoo gun 🙈

The first year my DS was old enough to articulate what he wanted, he asked for a roll of binbags. That was easily sorted and he forgot he'd asked for them on Christmas morning and was confused. Still, useful to have spares.

This year is more challenging. He's asked for a squishy ball covered in 'grimps' (????) and when you squish it, white things poke out of it. He can't describe the white things. Apparently one of his friends has one and we had a slightly stressful time trying to find such a ball online this afternoon.

Assumed he meant those balls covered in nets where you squeeze them and it bulges through the holes- NOPE (no grimps!) Thought a grimp might, in fact, be a GRINCH, so showed him pictures of balls with grinches on (too scary!) So I'm stuck. If anyone has any ideas what this ball covered in grimps with non-descript white protrusions could possibly be, I'd be eternally grateful.

Could it be this: www.curiousmindsbusybags.com/products/pimple-face-squishy-stress-ball-zit-popping-fun-fidget-gross-pus-nerd-acne-face-with-white-heads-blob-webby-mesh-ball-squishy-fidget-ball

A chicken (stuffed)

We finally found one on eBay in the nick of time. There were (in the year 2000) no stuffed chickens to be had for love nor money.

Aged almost 28 he still has it.

At 2 DD wanted a “blue plum” no idea where that idea came from. On Xmas day she was very happy with the purple wooden plum we’d found and a punnet of plums from my mum, although it turned out she didn’t actually like them. 😂

Another one for Blu Tac. She got some from Santa in her stocking and was absolutely thrilled.
Might give her some again this year. She's 17. Might not be so thrilled 🤣

Dancing cheeseburger. Even temu do rant have such a thing lol

Shockingly... it doesn't.

However if you got a dancing cactus plushie. And a cheese burger plushie, and some scissors and you can ladder stitch (v easy, youtube will show you how)... I think a dancing cheese burger would not be impossible to create and it would look fairly good!

Loved this post, and the insights of what goes on in kids minds is adorable!

A real flying fairy
A bag of marshmallows to herself
An orange flannel
Cool trainers that fit (from 15 year old DS who is an extremely narrow Size 14).

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/10/2023 18:04

There was a request for a specific colour narwhal aswell. I forget the actual colour, but tie-dye did the job.

A perfectly ripe mango.
And a bell from Santas sleigh and a tiny Elf's hammer.
She was really testing us that year.

DD aged 17 had a mango wrapped up this year!! Also a bottle of coke. I wrapped up all sorts of shit because all the money was spent on driving lessons.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 25/10/2023 18:16

@Igglepiggleandhisboat that would make sense actually Goosebumps has been a hit this year so could well be!

BerriesNutsConkers · 25/10/2023 18:18
