Friend lying about tv appearance.

A friend of mine has recently told me (& put on Facebook) that they were going to be a contestant on a popular quiz show
However when I checked online to see if I could be part of the audience the website said the show had been recorded in March and will be on tv in 2024.
WIBU to call this friend out on their lie or is it possible they’re telling the truth & audience website is incorrect.

So where's the lie?

Presumably they recorded their episode on March along with everyone else who made the show (hence you not being able to get tickets now) but have recently been told/made aware that the episode they appear in will be airing this week so have told people about it so they can watch and see how they performed.

Friend said they were recording in media city last week. Website stated recording was in March & no further recordings.

Which could have been something as simple as them needing to refilm some bits/add in pre or post shots etc due to editing issues ...

Yes I know. But they said they were Manchester recording last week when it was not recorded last week recordings were in March.

Can’t people read? The friend said she was filming this week. She then told the OP how far she got after the “filming”. All sounds like a load of rubbish.

I think they are a compulsive liar. I’ve always tried to be kind & help them out but it’s going too far now.

  2. Why are you so obsessed with this? Does it matter? I have a feeling that it’s not about the quiz show and more that she’s untrustworthy generally and this is just another in a long line of untruths? If so, end the friendship if you don’t trust her. Life is too short for this nonsense

Not sure why people are being so rude to OP. It’s pretty clear from her posts that her friend told her she was disliking it last week - which looks like it can’t be true. And has now told her she’s got to 12 questions which is a £125k prize. So that is quite a big lie!

Even compulsive liars usually have some sense of self preservation.

Unless your friend is exceptionally thick she's unlikely to tell everyone she's going to be on WWTBAM this week if she's not - because she'll obviously get caught out!

Friend of mine was on 'Tipping Point'- it was recorded months and months before it aired but she was not allowed to tell anyone the result until after it had been on TV. She stuck to it religiously as well and wouldn't say how she did until afterwards. I really don't get why you are so invested in it though!
