Shop came while WFH

I realise this is a ridiculous thing to be arguing about but interested in opinions of whose in the wrong here.

A orders the food shop to come 10-11am. B is working at home at that time. A expects to be home by 10 but ends up running late by 15 minutes. The shop arrives at 10am and B has to take it in and put the frozen things away. A puts the rest away. A says they would have messaged B that the shop was coming but normally this supermarket sends a text 15 mins before they arrive and they didn't this time. B thinks A was inconsiderate not to let them know the shop might come before they were home.

A and B are now in a stand off as B won't let it go until A apologises for being inconsiderate and A doesn't accept that they were inconsiderate.

YABU - A is in the worng
YANBU - B is in the wrong

If you can't tell we're both extremely stubborn.

Do people really argue about this?????

JMSA · 20/10/2023 14:57

I think A is in the wrong. I've never known the delivery driver - of any supermarket - to text as standard 15 minutes before.

hamstersarse · 20/10/2023 14:59

I just hope I never meet A or B

Passepartoute · 20/10/2023 15:00

How does B cope with people coming to the door that they aren't expecting? God forbid that the postman might turn up with a parcel, or the JWs ring the bell wanting to discuss God with B.

NoNotHimTheOtherOne · 20/10/2023 15:00

If A is expecting to be home within 15 min, B should just leave everything in bags in the kitchen. Frozen stuff doesn't need to be put in the freezer the moment it arrives.

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2023 15:01

A and B should learn to communicate and not behave like children.

Preferably tell the other person its coming. Then just open the fucking door if its early. Get the shopping. Ask how long the other person will be, if its an issue and they didn't tell you.

Geeez. How hard is it?

I WFH and have a lot of meetings. So a shop I did not expect could actually really upset my working day. A should have informed B that shop is expected, even if they planned to be there to take it.

Why? If a shop turned up when I was in a meeting, I would just excuse myself, open the door and take the stuff in, and go back to my meeting. I'm afraid I would just have to let frozen stuff take its chances.

Panama2 · 20/10/2023 15:02

I blame the delivery driver who despite adverse weather conditions which we all know slow everyone down for arriving on time, the swine

Quite.

Frozen food has been in chilled van.

If you go to the supermarket, do you magically teleport home with your shopping or is your shopping ok for a while?

Its not as if we are in the mid of a 40C heat wave is it?

StillWantingADog · 20/10/2023 15:03

BoohooWoohoo · 20/10/2023 13:58

A should have warned B that it was coming but putting the shopping away is hardly a difficult task so B needs to get a grip.

this. In this house If I organise online shop, I send the hour slot to DH's diary so that he is aware and not completely surprised if it turns up early. If he had a very important call (quite often) then it's possible he couldn't have answered the door at all but in the majority of cases he'd let it in, put the frozen stuff away and just get on with his day without a second thought.

Fucking hell, life is supposed to be fun.

B would ignore it as they’re working.
They wouldn’t be available if they were in the office would they.

FedUpMumof10YO · 20/10/2023 15:05

FGS. Really. All that's going on in the world.

A&B need to read the news.

Can you not see that just because you can, not everyone can just excuse themselves and disappear?

Are A & B actually adults?

This!

momtoboys · 20/10/2023 15:07

With all the awful things going on in the world, this is what you spend your time worrying about?

There's always one. Have you put this comment on every thread on MN that doesn't concern stuff you consider sufficiently serious? It's a chat forum. If you don't understand that, MN is not the forum for you.

Peony15 · 20/10/2023 15:09

Considering what is going on in the world right now this reads like two
toddlers squabbling in a sandpit. Embarassing to
even put energy in to vote/post issue. Wonder how you two
would solve real life problems ?

Walker1178 · 20/10/2023 15:09

Honestly? I’d say both A & B are unreasonable! B seems like a mountain out of a molehill kinda person, I’m sure it was a pain to be interrupted but they really should have sucked it up. A must know what B is like so a quick txt to say ‘Running late, just to let you know as shopping might turn up before I get home’

Im so glad that my DP and I let the little things slide even if sometimes they might annoy us

ChocoChocoLatte · 20/10/2023 15:10

Jesus wept - if this is the best you have to worry about then lucky you.

Not the point of the thread but you can sometimes see on the Tesco app where the driver is and how many stops before they arrive at your house. (I know that Op said text which isn't the same as app) The Tesco app was down this morning so you couldn't see location of the driver.

That's exactly what I would have to do.

Miyagi99 · 20/10/2023 15:12

For 15 min I would have just left it there for the other person, if I was wfh. But I don’t have the heating on yet!
