Settle an argument - what sauce on what meat?

Been out in the cold all day watching DS at a football tournament. Back home and the general consensus was bacon/sausage sandwiches for tea. The circle of piss argument ensues. DH thinks I'm a heathen for having brown sauce on a bacon sandwich. According to him, it's brown on sausage and red on bacon. I say it's the other way round - who's right, him or me?

This. And mayonnaise for chips. Red sauce has no place on anything in my book.

Edited

100% agree, brown with everything. Red with nothing. And mayo with chips.

DramaAlpaca · 15/10/2023 19:32

No rules here, I use them interchangeably depending on how I feel

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 15/10/2023 19:32

Nothing on bacon. Mayo or bbq on sausage.

SarahAndQuack · 15/10/2023 19:33

Ketchup and crispy bacon is a marriage made in heaven.

Sausages want mustard, ideally nice crunchy wholeseed mustard. Mayo isn't awful.

Brown sauce is .... meh.

CasperGutman · 15/10/2023 19:34

Either or neither sauce is fine on sausage and/or bacon. It's up to you. I'm a great believer in personal freedom like that.

However, no vinegar/sugar sauce whether red or brown should be in the equation if there's a fried egg involved. Personal freedom has to have limits.

TheKeatingFive · 15/10/2023 19:35

Sausage has to be tomato, bacon could be either depending on mood.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 15/10/2023 19:35

Brown on sausage and eggs
Tomato on bacon

TheKeatingFive · 15/10/2023 19:35

Egg is only brown. Egg and tomato sauce is an abomination 🤮

Jericha · 15/10/2023 19:36

Mustard for sausage sandwich
Ketchup for bacon
Brown sauce for fish finger sandwich

ButterfliesandMoths · 15/10/2023 19:36

Brown on sausage and bacon. You won't find red sauce in this house. Work of the devil that stuff.

CasperGutman · 15/10/2023 19:36

Also: mayo with sausage?! What the hell? How much fat do people want to eat in one go? You'll be buttering croissants next. Heathens.

Libertass · 15/10/2023 19:37

Dijon mustard on a sausage sandwich, no sauce at all on a bacon sandwich, but ideally a fried egg.

Oh, my sweet, sweet child.

ssd · 15/10/2023 19:37

You need a slow cooker, bung everything in and it'll be ready after the football

ThinWomansBrain · 15/10/2023 19:38

home made cranberry sauce on both
or on ice cream, yoghurt or porridge

I did find cranberry ketchup earlier in the year, but it wasn't as nice as my own

TheDogthatDug · 15/10/2023 19:39

@ShinyPikachu

Could you not use the sausage as a barrier to prevent cross contamination?

Clevs · 15/10/2023 19:39

Brown on both!

tobee · 15/10/2023 19:42

Mustard on sausage - Dijon

Brown on half of the bacon sandwich and half naked bacon.

Tigger1895 · 15/10/2023 19:43

I’m going to throw a spanner in the works and say neither, it has to be ballymaloe relish.

tobee · 15/10/2023 19:43

AfterWeights · 15/10/2023 19:20

FFS.

Brown is for folk up north
Red anywhere south of watford gap.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with sausages or bacon.

I'm very much a southerner and love brown sauce!!

tobee · 15/10/2023 19:43

bellac11 · 15/10/2023 19:23

Dont forget the butter.

On both slices of the bread

Certainly

Coulddowithanap · 15/10/2023 19:44

Surely it depends on what you like. I don't like brown sauce so it would have to be ketchup!

trampoline123 · 15/10/2023 19:45

No rules with sauces in my opinion, I like brown and red mixed together - try it!

BitOutOfPractice · 15/10/2023 19:46

DH is right but I would not judge you for being wrong your choices.

mrsbyers · 15/10/2023 19:48

I have no rules , sometimes I half the sandwich and have red on half and stokes brown on the other
