If you are anti-Zionist, what do you think Israel should do?

1000 replies

Poudretteite · 14/10/2023 14:39

Should Israel open its borders? Be given back to the Palestinian people? Where should the Jewish people go? What about the high risk of genocide?

Interested to hear as many people over the last few days have said they are anti-Zionist and that it's different to antisemitism.

@Gruntsandgroans I have also been following the journalist Motaz. His posts filming live what is happening make for a very difficult viewing but also important to document the war crime Israel is currently carrying out

Parkingt111 · 17/10/2023 14:04

@OhHelloTheres ofcourse they must know. But what do you think they should have done? Not treated the Israeli civilian? And Hamas bringing a hostage to be treated is not the same as Hamas hiding in a hospital and using it as its base to carry our terror activities

Gruntsandgroans · 17/10/2023 14:12

OhHelloTheres · 17/10/2023 14:02

@Parkingt111 if a hostage was taken to a hospital and a surgeon operated, it means Hamas were in that same hospital. This is were Israel has been saying for years - Hamas hide in schools and hospitals. Maybe it's time to start actually believing it?

The doctors would have known it was a hostage. That she was there with her captors. They're not idiots. They know.

Can you maybe just say what it is you want to say? Do you think the IDF would be justified in bombing whole hospitals because the Drs treated a hostage? That they are justified in asking whole hospitals filled with critically ill patients to evacuate to no where because they treated a hostage? What do you want the Drs in Gaza to do exactly? Have you seen how over run they are? How when they leave the hospital and go home to their families they get bombed to death? How there are dead bodies, burnt people, people with limbs missing everywhere? Children alone because their whole family is either dead or injured? What is it you want from them? I don't understand what you want these people who are suffering more than we can ever imagine to do? Are you saying Drs are complicit so they deserve to die and Palestinians will have no one to treat them? What exactly is the gotcha that you think you have?

Parkingt111 · 17/10/2023 14:17

@Gruntsandgroans I have seen time and time again on these threads that sadly some people are so filled with their hate and bias that they refuse to see common sense. And more often than not there is not much point arguing with them it's often like talking to a wall
God bless the doctors who are working tirelessly night and day and have put their lives on the line by refusing to abandon their patients

Reallifelurker · 17/10/2023 14:25

That was RedCrossSupporter’s exact response to a statement from Hamas about no Jews or Christians on the planet. So she was calling it that

As I said that wasn’t my interpretation of it. I guess she would have to confirm what she meant herself.

I would be surprised if anyone thinks Hamas are champions of equality and justice tbh. Freedom fighters maybe (that sends to be the term people use when they feel the need to put such people in a positive light) but you would need some serious mental gymnastics to frame Hamas as democratic in outlook.

Mumsnet has now reached its zenith.

Full blown Jihadi supporters now.

Equality and justice!

Mask off no question

Shes not a Jihadi supporter. Don’t be daft.

Of course she is. She just outright said a Hamas commander wanted justice and equality.

He doesn't. Hamas are expressly a Jihad organisation by dictionary definition. She is equating Jihad with justice and equality.

OhHelloTheres · 17/10/2023 14:44

@Gruntsandgroans
My only point is that Hamas are everywhere and that this is why Israel feels like it has no choice but to act the way they do. If Hamas are in hospitals, which they clearly are, they're making the hospitals targets. This is Hamas doing! How do you not see that?

I don't want hospitals bombed or evacuated, I wish it hadn't come to this. I just wish people would see what Israel are up against. They're up against actual monsters, but people refuse to see it. If a terrorist is hiding in a hospital then the terrorist is responsible for putting all those lives at risk.

For so many years people have been denying that Hamas hide in schools and hospitals. Are we finally ready to acknowledge it?

I regret my flippant tone in my previous message. I'm honestly just so fed up after dealing with this bullshit for years. Hamas are evil. Really, truly evil.

"When peace comes we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us." Except now I would change it to Hamas, ISIS etc instead of Arabs. It's an old quote from when the whole Arab world attacked Israel all in one go.

EsmaCannonball · 17/10/2023 15:08

Hamas don't have to hide in Gaza, in hospitals or anywhere else; they are the government, they are officialdom, their fighters are government-sanctioned.

I would also add that the Hamas tunnel system has fully-functional rooms from which to orchestrate a war. It's possible that they have medical treatment rooms and operating theatres down there. It's also possible that the hostages are being kept down there.

It's Egypt who have closed the border not Israel.

A convoy of vehicles carrying fleeing civilians in Gaza identified by the Israeli army as “safe routes” has been bombed.

They followed evacuation orders. An Israeli airstrike killed them the next day.

On another note, Gaza and Barcelona are twin cities. The Gazan local government has sent a farewell letter to Barcelona. This is an imperfect translation of the bit that has been made public.

If you are anti-Zionist, what do you think Israel should do?

Please elaborate on what choices Israel has to tackle Hamas. I have been asking for days. Thankfully you seem to have an answer.

Groups like Hamas don’t just come into existence out of thin air. The sustained, brutal occupation of Palestine, who are subject to apartheid and genocide has given rise for them to not only exist but to receive support.

So perhaps removing all of the genocidal, religious extremists from the Israeli government and replacing them with those who want genuine peace and equality might be a start…

There will never be peace when both sides want the complete annihilation of the other.

To clarify, by “both sides want the complete annihilation of the other” I mean the Israeli government (regarding the Palestinians) and Hamas. I do not mean Palestinians.

Have you read the Hamas Charter

Parkingt111 · 17/10/2023 16:01

For those of you who have friends and family in Israel, what is the general sentiment amongst the Israelis for Netanyahu and the current government? Do they think his policies and actions are in the best interest of the Israeli people? Just curious to know as I have seen protests by Israeli civilians against the government, but was wondering if this was a minority view or let's say 50/50

Parkingt111 · 17/10/2023 16:01

Or if you are a Israeli citizen yourself

Doesn't care and sees the conflict as an opportunity for a point scoring exercise on the Internet. Anyone that is 100% only one side is why there is a conflict and why peace will never happen. You can't have a conversation or debate with these because they don't want to weigh up all arguments and won't admit any wrongs on their own side. Waste of time tryingto chathe a mind that is closed. I just engage with them occasionally to exercise my historical memory or if I watch blow of steam.

Trulywonderful · 17/10/2023 16:13

Well I should have read proof read my last post. I blame Hamas or Israeli for it. Will let you decide which depending on your preference

The Israelis don't want the Gazans out of Gaza, they just want Hamas out of Gaza.

Quite why Arab nations won't help the Palestinians, I don't know.

The Israelis don't want the Gazans out of Gaza, they just want Hamas out of Gaza.

Nope. It's ethnic cleansing. Why target all of northern Gaza at once? If the point is to “destroy Hamas”

It is not necessary to bomb a hospital even if Hamas are hiding in there Hmm (and I don’t think it’s been proved either way).
