If your husband told you he was going to a work related black tie ball with colleagues (happens a few times a year) and the following morning you found a pair of ladies high heels in a bag on the ground in the back of his car how would you react/what would you think?

OP posts:
Bilkey · 14/10/2023 19:21

How do you feel ?

Kelljo83 · 14/10/2023 19:39

I'd think he'd given someone a lift and they'd changed their shoes and left them by accident.

Not everything has to be sinister. Ask him

linsey2581 · 14/10/2023 19:45

@SocksAndTheCity ladies can have large feet too. Don’t always assume it’s a guy when shoes size 9 and above. I’m 5ft 7 with slim size 9 feet I wear size 10 wellies!

LaDamaDeElche · 14/10/2023 19:45

If you were shagging someone, you’re hardly going to leave your shoes in the car and walk home barefoot. His wife put two and two together and made 165 😂

Hibiscrubbed · 14/10/2023 19:46

Read the whole thread, people. 😂

Rosejasmine · 14/10/2023 19:50

I would think somebody left them behind and they were picked up, it wouldn’t occur to me that any shenanigans had been going on.

McVittieBiscuit · 14/10/2023 19:53

That a female colleague had asked him to put them in his car so she didn’t have to carry them home on public transport?

Annieall · 14/10/2023 19:54

I'd be fuming.

Dedsec2023 · 14/10/2023 20:09

These are the questions i would be considering @ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees

Don't automatically assume the worst when discovering women's high heels?

Is it essential to for me to consider various possibilities eg did any one have lifts, how drunk was anyone etc ?

i would not automatically presume conclusions of infidelity

that said my first perspective or guess would be cross dressing

CustardySergeant · 14/10/2023 20:10

PLEASE read all the OP's posts.

Dedsec2023 · 14/10/2023 20:12

just caught up, it seems quite a few partners on here would auto presume affair ?
shocking, whereas the trust etc

Toomuchtrouble4me · 14/10/2023 20:15

I’d say “DH, whose shoes are these?”

Cherrybella · 14/10/2023 20:26

Because I always assume the worst I’d probably fly off the handle and have it out with him but you know him better than anyone, so surely you know whether you need to worry. And If I was going to try to play it cool id just pop them on the kitchen table and when he sees them casually say ‘ oh btw I found these in your car, just in case someone’s missing them’ and test the reaction. Pretty sure his face will tell you everything.

Mydogmybestfriend · 14/10/2023 20:28

This doesn't mean cheating he gave someone a lift who probably changed into flats or as someone else said a cross dresser?

Tessabelle74 · 14/10/2023 20:33

That he'd given a colleague a lift home and she'd left her shoes in his car. But then he's given me no reason to suspect anything else in 16 years. If it had been my ex however, I'd assume he'd fucked her stupid in the car after the party. Which way do you feel it goes with your husband?

Loubelle70 · 14/10/2023 20:35

Id just think she took them off and the ones she wears to go home in after party were the ones in the bag. No biggy

AnneWhittle · 14/10/2023 20:44

of course she would think they worst and I should have called her to apologise.

but this is as crazy as the suspicious woman! other non-involved people thinking OP has done something wrong by leaving her shoes in the car and she should apologise!!!

SuperA1982 · 14/10/2023 20:55

Does he know you have found them? If not say nothing and ask him about his night out.

Ramalangadingdong · 14/10/2023 20:56

LaDamaDeElche · 14/10/2023 19:45

If you were shagging someone, you’re hardly going to leave your shoes in the car and walk home barefoot. His wife put two and two together and made 165 😂

This conjures up a great image. Hahahaha!

NoraBattysCurlers · 14/10/2023 21:00

Turns our his wife went mental rang the two other colleagues to check his story and called my boss at the time to say she didn't want me to work with him anymore.

Only on mumsnet would this horrible dingbat receive sympathy.

GabriellaFaith · 14/10/2023 21:16

I think I would casually ask him if he had a good time last night, any office gossip, anyone hammered at the end of the night etc see if he mentions anything. If not could get more direct, wasn't the weather absolutely awful last night! how was the drive home? If he mentions nothing at all when he's had ample opportunity to, I'd then say we'll I wondered after finding her shoes and judge his reaction.

Personally I don't find the shoes odd, it's the fact he hasn't mentioned anything that's raised my suspicions.

Stupidliefromfriend · 14/10/2023 21:23

I'm embarrassed for the idiotic replies here. At least read the OP's posts if you CBA to read the thread.

Danielle9891 · 14/10/2023 21:25

If he's never given you a reason to doubt him, I'd assume he'd give a woman colleague a lift home. I'd sometimes take flat shoes in a bag and change out of my heels after a while.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 14/10/2023 21:26

Bluevelvetsofa · 13/10/2023 17:54

I’d like to think that he’d given someone a lift home and she’d changed out of the heels, put them in a bag and left them in the car.

same.

ChickHenLittle · 14/10/2023 21:31

I'd ask if he'd had a change of style and tell him they didn't really suit him. 😂

I do think it would have been funny to go to his retirement do in the shoes OP, I would have been tempted to wear them to every work event since. 🤣
