To think its not okay to great gazans as israel has been

Gaza has no food, no electricity and no water. On top of that they are being bombarded constantly
Israel has bombed the only escape route for refugees via Egypt, there is no way out
israel continues the blockage by air, land and sea - no aid can get in, no one can get out.
israel has said they will obliterate Gaza.

this is unprecedented, no matter what happens with governments or wars, you have refugee camps…safe havens…(often difficult) access to water - how are we even debating that this is acceptable? Am i the only person thinking this is the human race at its absolute worst? Its heartbreaking to watch, literally noone is doing anything - we are observing a genocide.

Agree a two state solution. Set up borders like every other country in the world for entry and exit. Lift the blockade to allow them to trade as their own independent country.

That was what was meant to happen when Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. Then Hamas was elected and the rocket attacks started so they blockaded the borders and here we are.

Personally I don't think it ok to go into a country and gun down 250 unarmed fleeing young people, and go door to door butchering entire families including decapitating children.
And if you've done that then you have to know the response will be swift and massive.

Literally nobody on this thread (and precious few anywhere) think it’s ok to do that. It’s also not ok to starve, deprive of water and bomb over 2 million civilians, half of whom are children. Both sides are dreadfully wrong, someone with some clout needs to say so, and ‘they started it’ is a pretty childish way to carry on international relations.

Subtlety1985 · 12/10/2023 09:59

@SugarAndSpiceIsNiceAnti-Semitism in this thread is unbelievable. Before anyone jumps on me, I'm not Jewish and still feel the Anti-Semitism.”

Where is the Anti-Semitism on this thread? Please refer to the comments you’ve seen.

I don’t believe anyone here has made Anti-Semitic comments. Are you throwing that term about just because some people don’t agree with the Israeli government?

In that case, maybe your Islamophobic as your happy to watch Millions of Muslims be either blown or starved to death.

Between January 2023 - June 2023 Israel killed over 200 Palestinians while the Palestinians killed less than 30 Israeli’s. This has been the theme throughout the decades. You can’t cage people like animals and expect them to lay down and take it can you? I mean, you don’t seem to expect Israel to accept the deaths of their people? Why expect that from the Palestinians who have suffered oppression and innocent civilian deaths for many many years.

Some people on these threads especially on the ones that were zapped have a love for Israel so much with no real connection believe me the Jews in Israel don't even have that love for their own state but anywho, that you are soooo sooo blinded with this love and you fail to see that Israel is about to trigger world war 3. Wakey Wakey mumsnet and who is ever is reading this, none of us will be safe if ww3 starts whoever you are and wherever you're from but continue sitting on your hands and not challenging your gov that is actively facilitating this where the saddest part is that you didn't even vote for this circus.

This is what is so heartbreaking Sad

Humans don't learn.

God taught us to love each other and Jesus taught us if we live by the sword...

I would like a Spiritual Empire where God can control all and communicate with Presidents etc ; That way He can set everyone straight.

There will no war, poverty etc

Everyone will be free and happy :)

punishing the entire population of Gaza because few odd people committed an act of terrorism

What’s happening in Israel and Gaza is terrible. But it’s not just “a few odd people”. Hamas is the Gazan government - they were voted in by the people. They are deeply corrupt thugs and extremists who deliberately harm the ordinary people - and of course they don’t want to give up power to have a normal democratic state, because of course they wouldn’t be in charge then. They orchestrate these attacks to keep the Gazans exactly where they are. It’s a huge mistake to think of them as a few isolated “odd people” or as freedom fighters for the oppressed.

We're they actually elected though? Genuine question. Did the ordinary people of Gaza have a say in this?

I think you mean Hamas. Hamas launched an attack on civilians where they murdered and raped their way through villages and a party. What on earth do you think Israels response would be?

People need to stop pretending that Hamas want a 2 state solution. One day hopefully on both sides there will be a genuine desire for a 2 state solution and people can live in peace.

Yes they were and then they never had an election ever again.

Egypt needs to open the border and allow Palestinians to leave. Set up camps and house fleeing refugees.
Hamas knew without doubt what Israel’s response would be. Hamas have inflicted this on the Palestinian people.
Everyone should go and visit Auschwitz and gain some insight to Israel’s stance of ‘never again’.
Let Egypt open her border.

Using the atrocities of the holocaust to justify the killing of innocents is not right, so I don’t know why you had to bring it up.

Hamas are terrorists and the Israeli army is indiscriminately bombing civilians. There are no ‘good guys’ in this, only evil people in power and innocent civilian victims on both sides.

YABU to start yet another thread on this.

Why?

What's your objection?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/10/2023 10:25

Hamas attack and kidnapping and murder of hundreds and hundreds of Israelis was utterly vile . There are no words to describe how horrific it was and the impact that it must be having on Israeli people and with that the extended Jewish community world wide. The trauma will be booming in their hearts and souls.

It is not ok to starve 2.4 million people of food, water and electric in retaliation, while bombing them to smithereens. Half of those people being children. This breaks international law. Th UN human rights chief has stated this and it is indisputable.

There is no where for the vast majority of people in Gaza to go. They cannot escape.

International leaders appear to be giving Israel a green light to do what ever they want to at present. They are saying to 'Israel; to go ahead, while in our own country, protesting this is being clamped down on. This is terrifying, not just for the innocent people in Gaza and in Israel who will both suffer greatly by this escalation, but for the global community as a whole.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/10/2023 10:29

Israel is about to trigger world war 3.

Suspect rather strongly that Iran were in some way behind Hamas' attack.

unbelieveable22 · 12/10/2023 10:30

The lack of compassion from some posters is saddening and disturbing. Seems to be a hierarchy of victims developing. What happened Saturday was wrong and what happened Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today was/is wrong.

This bleating about breaking international law infuriates me. Look at history. The Americans bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki to put a swift end to World War II. There are still arguments to this day about the morality of this action. But it stopped World War II atrocities.

Meta123 · 12/10/2023 10:35

The people in Gaza are the ones being oppressed. Their situation is no different to Ukraine's and is actually much worse. I don't understand why we support Ukraine but not Gaza who have been oppressed for decades.

Israel being present in the middle east really benefits the western countries. Our government doesn't care about civilians on both sides.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 12/10/2023 10:35

The Palestinian government should have invested in infrastructure rather than in luxury car showrooms. They should not be dependent on another country for basic needs when they had the ability to provide for their own and were even given huge amounts of aid to do so. Why on earth is Israel supposed to shore up a regime that wants them exterminated and why does no one expect the surrounding Arab states to help instead?

yazoolove · 12/10/2023 10:36

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Gideon Levy (Israeli Journalist)

" Israel cannot imprison 2 million Gazan's without paying a price". Again on day one of the loss of lives from Israel , Natanyahu is responsible for this.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/10/2023 10:37

Do you know that due to the oppression from Israel on Gaza that the Palestinians right to work is heavily restricted and that they cannot build new infrastructure. A Palestinian can't just start working and contribute to their economy. It doesn't work like that. Even those who have jobs are unable to get there on time as they have to pass the IDF checkpoints and get held back. It is impossible for them to build an economy.

It is true that they can't work easily in Israel, but it is a separate country.

@YetAnotherSpartacus did you not mention perhaps Iran was in this that potentially is triggering ww3. From what I can see and any sane person with an ounce of mind knows who is triggering it hence why I shared an Israeli Journalist's account of how Netanyahu is responsible for this attack and how he is about to trigger ww3 if the west carries on jumping on this bandwagon.

By expecting a government to invest in infrastructure and to use the aid money explicitly given for that purpose to help them do so? Oddly enough, no.
