To think its not okay to great gazans as israel has been

Gaza has no food, no electricity and no water. On top of that they are being bombarded constantly
Israel has bombed the only escape route for refugees via Egypt, there is no way out
israel continues the blockage by air, land and sea - no aid can get in, no one can get out.
israel has said they will obliterate Gaza.

this is unprecedented, no matter what happens with governments or wars, you have refugee camps…safe havens…(often difficult) access to water - how are we even debating that this is acceptable? Am i the only person thinking this is the human race at its absolute worst? Its heartbreaking to watch, literally noone is doing anything - we are observing a genocide.

Do you know that due to the oppression from Israel on Gaza that the Palestinians right to work is heavily restricted and that they cannot build new infrastructure. A Palestinian can't just start working and contribute to their economy. It doesn't work like that. Even those who have jobs are unable to get there on time as they have to pass the IDF checkpoints and get held back. It is impossible for them to build an economy.

Israel withdrew from Gaza nearly 20 years ago. Is it any harder for a Palestinian to work in Israel than it is for them to work in eg Egypt or Jordan and do those countries also have border controls?

It is true that they can't work easily in Israel, but it is a separate country.

Many people in Gaza work for Israel. Israel depend on them working and have created this system. It is slave labour really. They get paid less than an Israeli person doing the same job. Their earning are deducted to contribute towards the Israeli state. You can read all about it here.

"Around 80,000 Palestinian workers from the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) work in Israel with permits, 60,000 of them in the construction industry. In 2021, the ITUC released a report documenting exploitation of Palestinian workers in the West Bank and Israel - finding evidence of low wages, sometimes payment below the legal minimum wage, unsafe conditions, gaps in social protection, and an oppressive work permit brokerage system.[31]"

@Noicant thank you

VisaWoes · 12/10/2023 10:52

I do broadly agree. However I now see Israel are saying if the hostages are handed back then water and electricity and fuel will be provided. Which to be honest sounds fair enough.

Israel shouldn’t withhold stuff from civilians but they’re also desperate to get their civilians back. Hamas can hand them back. Though I guess Hamas’s concern is that the bombardment will increase/ground offensive start once there are no hostages. It’s such a mess.

yazoolove · 12/10/2023 10:52

@Alltheprettyseahorses do you not know that the point of most sane people who have an ounce of integrity and empathy that are shouting at the top of their voices " freedom for Palestine" is because forget about expensive showrooms and not funding their own infrastructure or the bs you are mentioning, these people don't even have running water.

Remember they live in a high security open air prison.

Before Israel came, quiet frankly they did have homes and running water and electricity.

Every infrastructure they build is bombed every year thanks to Israel where they don't even have time to rebuild.

LethargicButAwesome · 12/10/2023 10:53

This has been playing on my mind alot, Israel’s defence has been best in class, impossible to penetrate yet a thousand people have died - doesn't add up.

To also complicate it, the Palestinians are holding hostages and they want their civilians who are being held in prisons back for an exchange. Most of those held in Israeli prisons are children or have not had a fair trial.

When you watch the festival videos you see at least 20 chutes up in the air for ages coming down. A false alarm (a bird) that triggered the entire system and Israel into lockdown somehow misses 50 pick up trucks penetrating, chutes coming down first point of call to a festival despite warnings from other countries baffles me who's in whos pocket.

Palestinians live in the highest security open air prison in the world with drones, listening devices, radars and sensors, face recognition devices and their dome and a terrorist group so easily penetrated this so easily huh? No wonder some of the world and the oppositions in Israel are pointing to Natenyahu.

Most people shouting 'Freedom for Palestine' and attacking Israel are doing it because of antisemitism. Sanity and integrity doesn't come into it. I have never heard anyone criticise Jordan despite it being the country responsible for by far the most Palestinian deaths, Israel isn't in the top 5. Palestine also has borders with other countries. I won't forget about expensive car showrooms, thanks, or the luxury hotels. I'm not really bothered by how inconvenient their existence is to people who are anti Jewish Israel, that's their problem to deal with.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 12/10/2023 11:09

JFC yazoolove that is the most contemptible allegation imaginable.

andtheworldrollson · 12/10/2023 11:13

Palestine has a right to exist as much as Israel

Parts of palestine have been occupied for decades - when people want freedom for palestine they want the occupation removed

It doesn't mean they want more violence from either side
It doesn't mean that they don't want Israel to exist
It doesnt mean they support Hamas

Its hardly reasonable to use what happened decades ago with Jordan to justify or minimize what is happening today.

Has Jordan killed more though ? My searching the net doesn't support that certainly for recent years

Ireland attempted to boycott trade with Israel in 2018, “trade in settlement goods sustains injustice”. It passed lower and upper senate. Unfortunately, the change of coalition government in 2020 didn’t follow through.

When Hamas broke out of Gaza on Saturday by destroying parts of the border wall/ fence one of the places they chose was the main border crossing between Gaza- Israel [?begins with an E] This was a major Israeli surveillance/communication site and was destroyed ?hacked hampering the IDFs ability to respond quickly and effectively to the atrocities. So the poor response was part of the attack

Hamas has no airplanes so no parachutes - they were para-gliders presumably launched from the top of Gaza tower blocks which can be seen in the distance

Cuddlecouch · 12/10/2023 11:33

The fact that people on these threads are STILL shouting about beheading and rapes that have proved to be FAKE NEWS proves that zionists have not one once of sanity or decency left. All death is bad, but these fake reports instigated the biggest attack on 2m people we have seen in our lifetime.

If you don't like babies being killed this has to apply to ALL babies and all young people. As a Jewish person I've not seen one single report or comment saying 'gas the jews'. All I've seen is widespread and blanket coverage of the support for Israel and Israeli casualties. I've seen widespread condemnation and open racism towards the Palestinians from people and governments. Now is the time for peace and fair reporting. For both sides. Stop the siege, stop the illegal occupation.

Ffs there's babies on nicu wards dying right now because a fascist blood thirsty government has stopped electricity reaching their machines and water reaching them. This alone should be enough to silence all occupation supporters. Mnetters have truly lost their fucking minds.

Tapasita · 12/10/2023 11:33

The Israelis will decimate Gaza. Hamas knew this before they launched their attack. Hamas took this as a given and went ahead anyway. No I do not condone the Israeli response and lots of innocent Palestine civilians, including children will now die as a result. It's terrible. But the barbarism of Hamas, beheading babies in their cots is what's got people's back's up I think

Tapasita · 12/10/2023 11:36

I was confused about this as there has been no confirmation from the IDF that this happened. The media have backtracked on this happening now too. I think this riled up a lot of people and the media should have reported things accurately as there will be a loss of Palestinian babies now. It's so sad and no child should suffer on both sides.

Cuddlecouch · 12/10/2023 11:38

Netanyahu and the lies and siege are causing more damage to the Israeli cause than anything else out there.

I'm also horrified at the press 'reporting' on people supporting Palestine or holding up their national flag and asking for them to be sacked from their jobs! All mainly women too. People have the right to support the end of a brutal and illegal occupation.

At least be fair and prevent all flags from being raised. There is a complete imbalance here - on the ground, in warfare, in media coverage and in response and its being shown on social media in all its horrifying and brutal glory.

@Cuddlecouch The above article specifically references the decapitation (not that failing to decapitate a baby you've just murdered is any better though) so be careful with what you call "fake news".

Israeli soldiers move bodies in Kfar Aza kibbutz

Inside Kfar Aza where Hamas militants killed families in their homes

In Kfar Aza, Israeli soldiers tell the BBC they have uncovered a massacre of civilians, including children and babies.

Jerabilis · 12/10/2023 11:47

@SomeCatFromJapan please stop lying. The EU sent funds for water pipes to be laid in Gaza. Hamas boasted that they could dig them up and make rockets from them.
