Collective Punishment - No water, no food, no medicines

Lieblingsessen · 09/10/2023 19:19

I do not condone whatsoever what the Hamas attacks on civilians in Israel or their ideology

But surely, Israel laying siege to Gaza, preventing innocent civilians from accessing water, food, medicines, electricity for hospital equipment, is not justifiable. To collectively punish civilians who have no control over what Hamas or their government does. This is medieval.

Where is the outcry on the mainstream media about this? Surely it is not being anti-semitic to call out Israel, that retaliation is not unexpected, but collective punishment is horrendous.

It is very clear to me today, more than the first 72 hours, that the situation is only going to get better when Hamas is destroyed.

Israeli families are now saying they realise more so now than ever before that their nation is more important than their own individual family members.

Hamas has really fucked over Palestinians and peace forever. The Gaza Strip will be pulled apart, square by square, house by house and Hamas terrorists will be killed. Hamas terror will end. We will be reading about Mossad hunting down the leaders currently safely ensconced in Qatari apartments for decades.

Thousands of civilians will be killed also. Tens of thousands more likely. That’s the consequences.

And when that is done the Iranian regime will be next.

Israel is raging. Social media forums generally don’t get it. Give them fucking roses. De-radicalise them - poor terrorists might have PTSD.

Hamas’ days are numbered.

Granted haven't RTFT but yours is the one of the few references to Mossad. There aren't loads of TV shows made about them unlike the British and US 3 alphabet/number agencies but they are, erm, very good at what they do.

I've worked with several ex-Mossad, would not cross.

SideBob · 10/10/2023 20:04

Israel's policies regarding Gaza have been a mistake. People perceive they have no chance of a better life so they become desperate.

Terrorists and baby killers won't suddenly stop if they get a nicer house, more money, more land.

For god sake, the poster is clearly Israeli and Israeli babies have been beheaded and women raped next to the dead bodies of their friends. You, like me, are posting from a country where the biggest news story currently is the cancelling of a bloody high speed railway line. If you can't understand why she is posting the way she is, you are so lacking in empathy it is staggering. Have a think about how you would feel if this had happened to your loved ones- if you're capable of that level of basic human understanding- and stop being abusive to the woman.

Yes but I wouldn't be calling for the death of their children. Do you ever see parents of murder victims asking for revenge in that way?

JuvenileEmu · 10/10/2023 20:05

Livelovebehappy · 10/10/2023 19:49

What do those sympathising with Hamas suggest Israel do? Genuine question. Should Israel do nothing? Their only option is to retaliate and target Hamas in Gaza, but with that will come innocent casualties of Palestinians. That’s war unfortunately. If Israel do nothing, Hamas will continue to bomb, kidnap, murder and rape innocent Israeli civilians. If they do what Hamas is (allegedly)fighting for, and Gaza is given back to the Palestinians, then the people there will continue to be under the rule of this barbaric terrorist group. It’s a no win situation whichever direction they take.

I believe they think Israel should give the Palestinians whatever land they claim, make sure they are supplied with free utilities and provide them subsidised groceries. Oh and get over the massacre of Israeli civilians- I mean it happened a few days ago now! Surely the Israelis should concentrate on appeasing the historic grievances of the Palestinians.

Lastchancechica · 10/10/2023 20:05

God bless the babies in BOTH countries

She hasn't done that.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/10/2023 20:06

I don't think I was asking why they voted for Hamas. I've heard the pro-Palestinian line on that. I was asking if they had read the founding Hamas charter when they voted and if the women were allowed to vote. I also asked: 'isn't it the case that Palestinian opinion polls show many, if not most, Gazans do support Hamas?'

Yes, women had the vote when Hamas were elected, @Pollyputthekettleon
Obviously we can't know who read their charter and who didn't, but anyone who failed to - or who read and agreed with it - was taking a hell of a risk and are now paying the price

And yes, it's true that many polls show a majority support for Hamas, which again is a matter for the supporters - as are the consequences of doing so

For a human rights organisation like Btselem to not find their words when there is rape in the streets, when babies were decapitated in their beds, when mothers were set on fire and burned alive: there is no forgiveness and there is no forgetting. This is what human rights the EU cash buys: the new human right to be shielded from natural consequences.

Do you not understand the magnitude of what has occurred here?

The question on this thread is not posed correctly.

How could we forgive ourselves we this time for sending water, some of which will reach these evil men? How could we dishonour the parents slaughtered with their children and send the murderers food and electricity before they have even been buried? How can you ask this from us in a time like this?

You send water if there are children needing a drink. Period. Unless you want to be as bad as them.

There's something wrong with a situation where Gaza has to rely on Israel for water anyway. No nation should be that vulnerable to another. Policy failure

Lastchancechica · 10/10/2023 20:06

We can only pray that there will be a lasting solution in the end.

Pretty sure you'll find a lot of dead children in Gaza today, not to mention those who have already perished over the years from poverty and poor access to healthcare...
I'm tired of Israel being treated like a sacred cow for fear of being labelled anti-semitic.

How can you in good faith compare raping, pillaging and beheading indiscriminately of men women and children

To a (still tragic) air strike

Can you see the difference between the latter and being a crazed psychopath slaughtering innocents for no reason at all? Neither is GOOD. One is clearly worse.

There are no winners in war.

Do you really believe no group has ever conquered another's territory successfully in war? Successfully wiped out another group? Never?

I'm guessing that is the answer alright. But the pro-Palestinian side are, as usual unfortunately, apparently not taking questions that they don't like!

I suppose whether they actually read it or not, maybe they wouldn't have needed to read it to know Hamas's position. It was hardly secret, or new, or out of character.

I think whatever victory might be it will be hollow and short lived without a genuine solution and peaceful agreement.

We don't target children.

I'm sorry for their parents' loss and pain.

We are fighting an existential war with the full force we have available. If we stop now, we might as well give up.

We do not have the capabilities to be surgically precise. It's not a realistic or reasonable expectation in a war.

If your husband has some rockets stashed under his bed, or moonlights as a terrorist, it would probably be an idea to move in with your parents at this time. If you can get across the border into Egypt above or below ground that would seem to be a sensible decision.

According to the standards of those involved, yes, that constitutes winning. Go find a time machine and fight the Normans about it if it bothers you so much. By 'real winner' presumably you mean something like 'nice person by 21st century western standard of morality'. This thread is so strange.

They are "defenders".

The primary aim of a defence force is to prevent the death of, and harm to, their own people.
