Collective Punishment - No water, no food, no medicines

1000 replies

Lieblingsessen · 09/10/2023 19:19

I do not condone whatsoever what the Hamas attacks on civilians in Israel or their ideology

But surely, Israel laying siege to Gaza, preventing innocent civilians from accessing water, food, medicines, electricity for hospital equipment, is not justifiable. To collectively punish civilians who have no control over what Hamas or their government does. This is medieval.

Where is the outcry on the mainstream media about this? Surely it is not being anti-semitic to call out Israel, that retaliation is not unexpected, but collective punishment is horrendous.

I agree, but I can't condemn all Palestinians to death because of it. The brutality of Hamas is heart breaking and shocking, but it seems a simmering pot of resentments and hatred in the holy land altogether.

Me neither, but I have realised that the removal of Hamas is in the best interests of Gazans, as they seem quite content to draw death and destruction onto the heads of the civilian population.

I've seen references that people voted for change, any change in rather than for hammas.

Can they even read? I don't know if women can vote and whether they are allowed free votes. I think there is only one or a handful of female hammas politicians.

And how can they get rid of hammas?

There are schools and colleges, universities in Palestine. The rate of illiteracy is fairly low. Considerably lower than other countries´ in the region.

And yes, women can vote.
Well, if / when there is a vote.

I wouldn't be kind in suggesting it. The lack of humanity a certain poster has shown is genuinely terrifying.

No, they might sound detached for obvious reasons. Genuinely terrifying is what people have endured.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 10/10/2023 19:32

@BigBillyButterBollocks they absolutely do not have the sane rights as men

Oh bore off. That poster is in shock and deep grief and you moralise about their reaction to babies being beheaded.

Surely the journalists are mostly not suicidal? You'd hope not anyway.

If they are proper war journalists, then that would just be them doing their job properly.

EasternStandard · 10/10/2023 19:29

It can be if that is how they’re processing, it’s really anyone’s decision if they post or not

I’m not in that position but I can see it must be very hard

There have been a couple of times after I experienced a loss that I went on forums and realised quickly it would be better if I didn't. I took myself off them before I made myself look stupid. She can do the same.

AUserNameIsNot · 10/10/2023 19:31

Well we must have pretty rotten aim.

Reality check: only one side in the conflict targets unarmed children.

No, I understand Hamas do as well, I am aware it isn't just Israel.

SequentialAnalyst · 10/10/2023 19:33

And wouldn't those journalists have the protection of the Israelis? Perhaps they could enter Gaza via Egypt, only in the opposite direction to the way that Israel has recommended for Palestinians to leave Hmm

@Pollyputhekettleon.. At the risk of sounding fastidious Google it..
Google human rights gaza etc and how hammas presented themselves as forces of good and change and then slowly and suddenly tried to taliban use them

And then Google "treament of Palestinians by Israel!".

Also Gaza and Palestine are not like the talibans. Wtf?

obviously. But one can´t really blame Israel for that one. Or the lack of gay rights in Palestine.

Which means certain people suddenly lose interest.

It’s not nice to discuss someone like this so I’ll just say scroll past and let them post

Well allow me to educate you. US gun boats are there already, more on the way and they are going in. Iran and other countries are firmly in the Hamas camp. I believe Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Lebanon, Bahrain to name a few are with Palestine. Hezbollah are ready to join the cause.

I am assuming you know that Israel have the support of Europe, India, US, U.K. etc if you can’t see the danger of escalation then perhaps do some further historical research.

Edited

Erm unfortunately I think you're the one that needs educating.

The US and Israel have bilateral defence agreements. Just like they do with many other countries, like Japan and the Philippines. They are obligated to support.

Also you 'believe' these major ME powers are with Palestine... they have come out with support statements but not actually done anything about it. Until recently Saudi Arabia has been in talks with the US about normalising relations with Israel which is why it's believed certain parties started this whole thing to begin with.

There has been loads of conflict with people picking a side and making statements not just this but elsewhere in the ME but the reason there's going to be no actual fighting in 'every continent on earth' (to make it a world war) is because markets are so interconnected. Everyone would lose.

Most major powers are already in each other's pockets to a large degree except for maybe Russia.

Yes, they need to get rid of Hamas. I never thought Hamas were freedom fighters, they have always been dangerous extremists. Certainly their current behaviour shows just how dangerous they are.

You'd think a race of people who'd experienced statelessness would have more empathy, wouldn't you.

So Jewish people should be more empathic given their peoples history but, it's OK for Palestinians to behead children and murder indiscriminately because of their peoples history? Gotcha 👌

Even most war journalists have limits!

Doubtless.
What criteria do their employers recommend these journalists to apply when they make a decision such as whether to go to Gaza as well as Israel? (and isn't Gaza actually in Israel - I thought that was kind of the point of all this mayhem?)

AUserNameIsNot · 10/10/2023 19:40

The UK tried to starve Germany in both world wars. The UK burned 50,000 men women and children in Dresden.

Expecting us to fix the plumbing for a murderous government that still holds a kidnapped three month old hostage seems a little unrealistic as an expectation in the context of the customs and norms of war.

Do you know how many Palestinian children were shot by Israeli soldiers?

I have reported you to @MNHQ several times. How are you allowed to spread your hate and genocidal ideas for so long?

Hamas are literally commuting commuting genocide against Jews. Seeing a mother and her two small children being taken as hostages is absolutely sickening. Going into houses and massacring people for being Israeli.

These people are terrorists and it blows my mind that anyone would support their cause. I know plenty of people who openly support Hamas, not just Palestinians either.

It is very clear to me today, more than the first 72 hours, that the situation is only going to get better when Hamas is destroyed.

Israeli families are now saying they realise more so now than ever before that their nation is more important than their own individual family members.

Hamas has really fucked over Palestinians and peace forever. The Gaza Strip will be pulled apart, square by square, house by house and Hamas terrorists will be killed. Hamas terror will end. We will be reading about Mossad hunting down the leaders currently safely ensconced in Qatari apartments for decades.

Thousands of civilians will be killed also. Tens of thousands more likely. That’s the consequences.

And when that is done the Iranian regime will be next.

Israel is raging. Social media forums generally don’t get it. Give them fucking roses. De-radicalise them - poor terrorists might have PTSD.

Hamas’ days are numbered.
