I do wish people understood statistics. And credited women with a little intelligence. Women seeking abortion tend to try to have them as early as possible. The way some states are trying to make it more difficult leads to later abortions, not earlier.

And no one on here wants to kill children.

The restrictions that are being placed on women in these "nightmare hellscapes" of the states are specifically targeting late term abortions and have exceptions carved out in the case of rape, incest and of course, in the event that there are complications. The restrictions do not lead to later abortions, that's the argument that is used to fearmonger and support making it legal to abort at 40 weeks.

Those objecting to these restrictions either do not understand them or want all abortion, all the time, with zero restrictions. There is no good faith reason for a late term abortion of a healthy child.

Did you also know that the laws restricting abortions in Texas are applied to abortion providers, not to women? A woman cannot be prosecuted for having an abortion, only the doctor and those responsible for taking her there. Care to know why? Because in the city of Houston, 85% of PP abortions are performed on underaged immigrants, victims of forced prostitution and sex trafficking. Very few of the abortions performed in the state of Texas are performed on women who are in control of what's happening to them. THAT is why the person who takes you to get an abortion is liable, because Planned Parenthood is actively covering for sex traffickers and pimps.

Most of Europe limits abortions after 15 weeks. Why is that the US is a dystopian nightmare for limitations that are as lax or more lax than most of Europe? I think 6 weeks is a bit extreme, but the way things work over here in our nasty republic is that we vote on things for our state and make decisions based on what the majority of people in the state want to do. Were you aware that after Roe was overturned, no women, anywhere, were any more restricted than they were the day before it was overturned? Probably not. Reversing Roe gave the decisions back to the states. In California, you can get an abortion when you go into labor, if you want. It's happening, quite a lot.

I realize that hating the US is just something everyone over there is always going to do. You have this vision of America that the left has crafted for you with television and movies that is just ridiculously wrong. Honestly, the people on the coasts believe that all of us in "red state flyover country" are essentially the family from Deliverance. It's fun to hate us, I get it. But you do not know what is actually happening here, nor do you understand why things are done the way they are.

I've never seen "forcing underage immigrants, victims of forced prostitution and sex trafficking to have babies whether they want to or not" being touted as a good reason to criminalise abortion before.

It really is about punishing "fallen" women isn't it

It's a shame that lost amongst all the very heated discussion about abortion rights is the whole point of this thread - that having enacted a highly contentious law those in power are creating new ones to ensure anyone who assists in breaking that law is also criminalised by any means necessary. When I say breaks that law I mean goes elsewhere to the have the procedure done legally. Which is frightening really, and clearly little to do with saving lives but about doing what they say.

But we are talking the USA, where in some states they will work on the mental health of a prisoner on death row until they are well enough to execute.

An argument often used against the pro life stance on abortion is “What about when the life of the mother is at risk?”

Dr. Landrum Shettles, a pioneer in the field of in vitro fertilization, wrote, “Less than 1 percent of all abortions are performed to save the mother’s life”

Over 1,000 OB-GYNs and maternal healthcare experts signed a statement in 2012, saying, in part, “As experienced practitioners and researchers in obstetrics and gynaecology, we affirm that direct abortion—the purposeful destruction of the unborn child—is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman”

in 2019, “medical leaders representing more than 30,000 doctors said intentionally killing a late-term unborn baby in an abortion is never necessary to save a mother’s life”

Are you going to bother citing your sources or just post insulting rhetoric comparing people who support a woman's right to choose to Nazis.

sad that developed countries are slowly starting to degrade our rights like parts of the ME.
