To think this, is how the Tories could win?

Sunak is setting out his stall as pro-car:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/sep/28/rishi-sunak-expected-to-limit-powers-of-councils-in-england-to-curb-car-use-20mph-speed-limit-traffic-camera-fines

This could actually swing it for him. People sink vast amounts of time and money into their cars, they're aspirational status symbols. The UK loves it's cars.

If you don't wish to engage Eastern, don't stay on the thread, simples.... if you post rubbish, i will challenge it.

This is how forums work, i have zero issue with you quoting me or or not, it wont affect me, try being grown up but of course up to you.

EasternStandard · 30/09/2023 16:53

As for pp complaining about posts I noticed that even after suggesting a hiatus from bothering they still quote

I’m more than happy to not engage

@DuncinToffee it’s Kemi Badenoch pushing it

But it isn't a policy?

Anyway as I said, Labour have bigger problems to solve

NHS waiting list for example

EasternStandard · 30/09/2023 16:57

I will post where I want thanks.

I’ll respond to whoever I like.

NHS waiting list for example

It’s at consultation stage, through ECHR but that’s it pretty much

It’s a shame it’s become part of our politics, not just here but in so many countries. It really is a terrible law for women and children

I don’t know if we’ll reverse it. It’ll be a shame because men get more emboldened each year.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/09/2023 17:08

DuncinToffee · 30/09/2023 16:44

But the Tories are not doing anything about it either. Sunak is more interested in potholes

Sunak doesn't give a fuck about potholes he travels by helicopter. And he he doesn't give a fuck about women either.

It's just more bullshit words from an ineffective leader of a zombie government.

Alexandra2001 · 30/09/2023 17:29

Agree with this, the % of men who support the likes of Wooton or Brand is shocking & not just in UK, women are seen as little more than the toys of men, of course not helped by people like Boris and Trump who treated women with contempt, yet seemed to bolster their support :(

Where we disagree is that the Tories will change this, they wont.

dressedforcomfort · 30/09/2023 17:29

Speed limits won't win an election - not when people can't afford to feed their kids, heat their homes, pay their rent. The Tories have fucking broken this country and there is nothing in this earth that would induce me to vote for them....

Yes and drivers also live in towns and villages blighted by the car too....

Political Thinking on R4 now, for those who want to learn a bit more about Starmer?

Hang on a minute, are these really potholes or speed bumps identifying as pot holes?

PandaExpress · 30/09/2023 18:12

I think saying the posters saying the trans issue won't matter to voters in a GE, when the country is in such a bad state are forgetting the last election. The country was in a state then too. They won it by attacking Labour, Corbyn in particular. They convinced the country that he was practically in the IRA himself and that we'd be a communist country if he won. Fear won them the last election. Don't you think that they will use the trans issue the same way? Do you really think that if the general public are bombarded with headlines, with the quotes from certain Labour MPs that TWAW, alongside stories of men invading women's spaces, that the public won't care? You have short memories if you think the public only care about public services and spending when it comes to elections.

They won it on a combination of demonising Corbyn and Brexit. Of course the electorate won’t care. Men don’t give a shit and nor do the majority of women. How can the Tories weaponise it when a sizeable number of their MPs like Mordaunt, Nokes and Caufield think TWAW?

Clavinova · 30/09/2023 18:17

TooBigForMyBoots
Conservative MP for Brigend, Jamie Wallace believes he is a woman with a penis

He seems less confused than Keir Starmer;

Wallis, who came out as trans in 2022, and still uses he/him pronouns

Possibly, Gender ID can hurt politicians, look at Sturgeon

GEs tend to have issues flare up that gain ground

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/09/2023 18:21

He won't be for much longer @Clavinova. He's growing his hair and preparing for the day when he'll wear his best twinset and pearls to work. At least I hope that's what he wears, he could turn up in the leather miniskirt he ran away from his car crash in.Shock

Men don't give a shit? Wait until they tell them that their daughters and granddaughters aren't safe because males will be using their toilets and changing rooms. And share all the stories of women being hurt by males competing against them in women's sport. You are completely forgetting what the media in this country is like.

There are a lot of polluting SUV lovers out there, including on this site. Sadly you could be right.

And all the people who think it's fine to park on pavements.

And the people who think it's an abomination to stick to 70 on a motorway,

With comments like this I don't see how you can take Keir Starmer's position seriously either - Ed Davey for that matter as well.

Clavinova · 30/09/2023 18:44

BIossomtoes · 30/09/2023 14:24

And? I know copy and paste is your specialty but I really need a bit of commentary to go with it. I have absolutely no idea why you tagged me and posted that.

My apologies - dh wanted to go out for coffee and cake - I had to dash.

I was replying to your post;
Oh, here we go “At least they know what a woman is” is back. Not good enough Clav

Earlier in the thread you posted;
Obviously Duffield doesn’t agree as she continues to be a Labour MP. Presumably things have changed a lot since 2019 when Corbyn still led the party.

I can't see how things have changed much - Starmer made two visits to Kent earlier this year (including his first visit to Kent as Labour leader) and yet he didn't invite Kent's only Labour MP along as well. Why shouldn't Rosie Duffield continue to be a Labour MP? Why should she be forced out of her job and party because she has gender critical views?

PandaExpress · 30/09/2023 18:45

@TooBigForMyBoots People aren't worried that transmen who are able to give birth, are a danger to women in their spaces though...

BIossomtoes · 30/09/2023 18:47

The only people who are in danger of forcing her out of her job are her constituents. They seem to love her so I wouldn’t worry about her.

Clavinova · 30/09/2023 18:48

TooBigForMyBoots
Who do you think will be the leader of the Tory Party in 18 months

That's speculation - Starmer is leader of the Labour Party now - presumably you are equally horrified and open-mouthed at the thought of Starmer being prime minister?

It fucks with language when women need clear medical information and advice. Mordaunt, governmental minister at the Despatch Box, clearly says TMAM and TWAW.

The Tories are no friend to women.

Frabbits · 30/09/2023 18:52

The economy, immigration, crime, health, taxation, the environment, pensions, education.... these are the things that people care about.

Trans rights are way, way down the list for the vast, vast majority of people. On MN there seems to be some sort of weird cult who think otherwise, and who also think that the tories - who fucking hate women as they do most people who aren't middle aged, rich white people - are the party to vote for.

If I see see news stories about "men invading woman's spaces" I will be asking how that's been allowed to happen under the Tory's and why they are blaming Labour.

But it's not a vote issue for me. No party excels themselves on this or other issues.

But I'm not going to vote for a party that's ripping the country off why I continue to fight for woman's rights.
