@fettuccini I think what a lot of people are saying is that we have not seen the full evidence yet and there is a legal process to be followed. I am hoping these women will now go to the police and the truth will be uncovered.
I am not saying I disbelieve these women but I cannot say I can take everything that is said on a TV show as gospel. That is not a good way for society to operate.
People who say they believe any woman, no matter what they say I'm sorry but I just don't. I could name any person I know now and say they raped me and some people say they would just believe it. But that person hasn't raped me. There needs to be evidence which is examined in a court of law.
With regard to the TV show; I have posted before to say that the sensationalist way this was all presented with the teaser videos, online hints, dramatic music etc. made me feel uncomfortable as to whether the motive was simply to expose wrongdoing. It was more like a Roman "bread and circuses" type production or the "Five Minute Hate" in Orwell's 1984.
I don't even think many of the public realised they were seeing actors on the documentary.
I also did not realise myself until reading further that "Alice" was working for Channel 4 at the time of the incident she describes on Big Brother's Big Mouth which was presented by Russell Brand. I feel we were led to believe this was a schoolgirl with no connection to him. Her mother also drove her to Brand's house during the relationship.
I also have now seen the unredacted text sent by the woman who says, "no means no" (it's online if you search for it). On reading it in full it is not quite as presented on the TV show.
This is why a TV spectacular on this was not the way to go and why people on this thread saying, "I never liked him, he is hairy, dirty-looking" etc. are ridiculous.
I've been a juror on a rape trial at which we found the defendant guilty. A major, major thing in such a trial is to hear the full evidence from both parties and to see them, hear them speak and watch their facial expressions and make a judgement as to what is the truth.
Let the courts decide. Otherwise it is nothing but a witch hunt.
