Thunderstorms last night, but looking around most people are wearing a hoodie/cardigan and flip flops (in London). It doesn’t feel cold enough for a coat yet but are you wearing a coat?

Orangenights · 18/09/2023 13:35

No I have a thin waterproof jacket that I’ll wear if it rains, but much too warm for my winter coat (if that’s what you mean?)

FallingAutumnLeaf · 18/09/2023 13:35

Yes. It's tipping it down. I wore a coat to reduce the possibility of looking like a drowned rat at work.

Goodornot · 18/09/2023 13:36

No. Just about wearing a waterproof and that's too hot.

Whataretheodds · 18/09/2023 13:36

A COAT??

I had a cagoul on yesterday because it was tipping it down. But we've not even put the duvet back on.

megletthesecond · 18/09/2023 13:36

Yes. It's trench coat season for a few weeks now.
My puffas can wait until December.

LubaLuca · 18/09/2023 13:37

No coat yet, I wore a jumper when I went out early morning and carried a brolly.

Azaeleasinbloom · 18/09/2023 13:37

Yes - but I am in Scotland - just my Joules Right as Rain thing though , not got the parkas out yet.

Whataretheodds · 18/09/2023 13:38

We don't even have the duvet on yet.

Zebedee55 · 18/09/2023 13:38

No, I'm in London, and still need the cooling fans on. No need for even a cardigan.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 18/09/2023 13:44

No Although it's cooler than it was, it's incredibly humid here and at 58 I don't seem to have a thermostat anymore
I have a pack it jacket as I hate umbrellas

CoffeeWithCheese · 18/09/2023 13:49

Not even got the cardigans out yet.

I'm northern.

Bonjovispjs · 18/09/2023 13:53

No, I'm still in T shirts in London and fan on almost constantly (I am menopausal though)

FallingAutumnLeaf · 18/09/2023 13:57

I think I've got a different meaning to coat to you all.
I'm wore a coat this morning. I'm not wearing a cardigan. So, teeshirt and coat. Now I'm inside, I'm just wearing a teeshirt.
Coat can provide warmth, waterproofing or both in my world.
Are you all taking coat to mean for warmth only?

Vicliz24 · 18/09/2023 13:59

Only my raincoat this morning but summer dress underneath it's still really warm.

Finallybreathe · 18/09/2023 13:59

I’m wearing a thin raincoat and that was too hot!

Sexnotgender · 18/09/2023 13:59

No, I was out in a T-shirt yesterday.

DappledThings · 18/09/2023 14:02

Nope, only got to a jumper today. Would need a raincoat today if I was going on the school run but both have playdates. Didn't need any extra layers this morning.

PerfectMatch · 18/09/2023 14:03

No not yet. I was lucky yesterday though when after being outside coatless for few hours it started pouring with rain when I was driving home!

transformandriseup · 18/09/2023 14:06

Yesterday I had to as it tipped down in Cornwall. Today isn't so bad.

Jeffreybubblesbombom · 18/09/2023 14:11

I'm in Yorkshire we don't wear a coat until its below 5 degrees blowing a gale with snow hail and rain 🤣 but seriously had my denim jacket on over a dress ( with trainers) but took it off was far too warm.
Got a cagoule in the car and a brolly in case. Still got my summer duvet on .. window open and sometimes fan.
I'm going to Turkey in 3 days it's going to be 32 degrees ...so will probably feel the cold much more when l get back.

ManateeFair · 18/09/2023 14:34

Depends what you mean by 'a coat'. It's 13C and raining where I am today, so a light jacket maybe?! I certainly wouldn't want to be wearing what I think of as a proper coat; I'd be melting.

Yesterday I went out in a long-sleeved dress and no jacket/cardigan and it was fine.

ilovesooty · 18/09/2023 14:40

No.

MotherWol · 18/09/2023 14:57

Yes (London) - light quilted jacket yesterday over a t-shirt for playground/errands, and trench coat over a smart top for work today. Coats aren't just about warmth, they're a finishing layer for your outfit.

bootsvsshoes · 18/09/2023 14:58

Wearing my new Shacket

TakeMe2Insanity · 18/09/2023 15:01

I guess by coat I mean something resembling outdoor wear by cardigan/hoody I mean something you wear indoors. Yes I am also wearing a tshirt indoors, windows open (7 months pregnant so hot).
