Have you started wearing a coat yet?

Thunderstorms last night, but looking around most people are wearing a hoodie/cardigan and flip flops (in London). It doesn’t feel cold enough for a coat yet but are you wearing a coat?

A summer jacket because it was 14 degrees and wet yesterday. I am going to pack away one box of very summery dresses though.

DinnaeFashYersel · 19/09/2023 08:01

Never stopped.

I live in Scotland. We have a big coat for the winter and another coat for the rest of the year.

BlackJumpsuit · 19/09/2023 09:01

Haven't worn any kind of jacket yet...yesterday in London was soooo humid, tube is like a furnace, I'm not even in long sleeves yet 😂

BlackJumpsuit · 19/09/2023 09:02

The other day I got on a bus in central that had the HEATING on 🥵
It was 26° out and high humidity!
I almost spontaneously combusted 😩

A COAT??

I had a cagoul on yesterday because it was tipping it down. But we've not even put the duvet back on.

I am in the occasional long sleeved t-shirt but my duvet has been on all Summer, same as last year, though not all of my body is under it all the time!

caramond · 19/09/2023 16:18

I thought of this thread when I saw people wearing their big padded winter coats on the tube today. It was about 15C at the coldest point this morning so I'm not sure how they weren't boiling 🥵

ALongHardWinter · 19/09/2023 17:02

No. It's 20 degrees here today (west London). Won't be wearing a coat until it drops another 5 or 6 degrees.

YourNameGoesHere · 19/09/2023 17:08

Anyone else outside of London envious of the apparent fabulous weather? It's fucking vile here outside of the capital. Temperature may so 17° but there's coats galore where I am. It's rained all day, it's very windy and oh so grey.

Whataretheodds · 19/09/2023 17:11

Bulletin: I have added a light blanket.

Yes. Although it has been quite warm today at 17 degrees. However, the rain down the high street was sideways.

You have kind of proved my point that on weather threads there seem to be more posters in London than anywhere else.

Nothing to be envious of, it’s not fabulous but weather at all! Slightly warmer at 20 but still rainy, grey and windy.

Sallyingon · 19/09/2023 18:09

It was a cagoul, tights and boots day here in Cumbria.

ginandtonicwithlimes · 19/09/2023 18:12

Yes as it was very windy with some rain.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 19/09/2023 18:12

First time today to go swimming

RuthW · 19/09/2023 18:21

I haven't even started wearing a cardi yet!

Disturbia81 · 19/09/2023 18:31

Lovely in Yorkshire, autumn is officially here! Big coat on last few days

BiddyPop · 19/09/2023 18:35

Yes - but I have a lighter waterproof coat for summer and a heavier one for winter. So I wear a coat all year round as it's very common for dry mornings to have wet commutes home in the evening all year long.

dayslikethese1 · 20/09/2023 02:10

I'm surprised by all the ppl saying they're still in their summer t-shirts sbd flip-flops, I would have thought it's at least jacket/cardigan weather. But maybe its warmer where they are. I agree it's not proper winter coat weather yet though.

My friend lives in London and is cursing that it's still warm
He's regretting leaving Yorkshire!

It was actually the thick winter coat people that was the motivation behind the thread. Obviously today its been raining consistently in London so I imagine more waterproof jackets about but it’s the coat people that got me thinking… interesting nonetheless.

Yes, I have a raincoat or trench coat for autumn.
I have switched on the heating

TakeMe2Insanity · 20/09/2023 17:53

i haven’t turned on the heating but might need to if the rain continues.

Shoxfordian · 20/09/2023 18:25

I had the heating on last night in London for a quick blast; no coat today but should have done really

Stokey · 20/09/2023 19:50

I went out wearing a sweatshirt and a raincoat at lunch time in London and was boiling. Then it started chucking it down and it feels cooler now but the minimum is still 13 tonight.

Hibernatalie · 21/09/2023 14:05

Still just a blazer for me, even at 6am
