AIBU to have sat on her feet

Tongue in cheek really, I feel perfectly reasonable. OH thinks I'm getting old, intolerant, and grumpy.

Got on the bus today with shopping bags in tow, they're heavy and I'm knackered (I have a disability that causes chronic exhaustion, but it's invisible). It's heaving busy in town/on bus, so I head to the back of the bus so we can fit some bags on our lap/feet out of people's way/the aisle.

One corner of the back seats is taken. The other corner has one, older teenage girl, taking up 4 seats with herself taking one seat, her handbag taking another, and her feet on the 2 seats in front of her, burying her head in her phone as if she can't see us. Didn't move her handbag or feet from the two seats, despite my obviously being right in front of her, so I just gave up and sat on her feet.

She removed them sharpish, probably because I'm quite fat.

Probably not helped by the inward trip earlier today, where having dodged one teenager's leg placed right into the aisle, I tripped over the next one's leg in aisle and went flying.

I couldn't be arsed asking her to move, because I was about 6 inches in front of her, my OH had sat in the seat next to her handbag, so there's no way she couldn't have known we were there (no headphones, either) so I thought, if you're going to pretend I'm not there, I'm going to pretend you're not. But ffs, I sat on a teenager. ON PURPOSE. Not a high point in my life.

Selfish brat deserved it. I also hate people on buses who play tik toks, films or prayers at top volume and loud conversations on phones especially when they put speaker phone on to subject everyone to both sides of their nonsense. This often is in conjunction with loud swearing. Get headphones arseholes. I absolutely don't mind giggly teenagers or even loud conversations though. Almost forgot, I also hate rude bus drivers. I'm definitely getting grumpier too.

As a PP said, thank you for your service. I recently had an encounter with a woman and her husband and their toddler on a sightseeing bus. They had their stroller opened and also took over 3 seats with middle seat between them unoccupied. The woman had toddler on her lap with his feet on the middle seat, there were about 15 people standing. After about 10 mins of this, I asked her if she could move to middle seat so I could sit down. She went on to tell me her it was her toddlers seat, I told her he had been say on her lap for 10 mins and she said no it’s only being 2 mins (big fat lie). This ended up in a back and forth argument. i must mention her husband did tell her to move but she refused and this went on till the bus made a stop and many people got down. She had the effrontery to jump up then and try and get upstairs for better viewing seats, I did plunk myself ahead of her to get upstairs and was accused of being rude.
So I applaud you for your courage.

swimlyn They were probably enjoying it

Pigwig10 · 13/09/2023 19:13

This reminds me of my lovely late dad. I took him to the cinema (he’d not been since smoking was banned 😂). The only seats available were a single and one playing host to a tub of popcorn. My dad asked the woman sat next to it if he could please use the seat. She replies that it was for her popcorn!!! Obviously he asked if she had bought a ticket for the popcorn and if not she’d better move it or he was going to sit on it. She huffily picked it up and moved to the single seat a row behind and me and my dad were able to sit together 😊❤️. My dad was not known to be one to take foolishness from anyone 🤣🤣

toxic44 · 13/09/2023 19:43

It's bums that save seats, not bags or feet. Well done.

smilesup · 11/09/2023 23:54

I'm a mardy arse and would have done it and told her to move her bag. Rude entitled so and so.
I live with 3 teenagers and they can be the most self absorbed gits. They need a kick up the bum (or squashed feet) now and again.

So true I asked dd3 (15) to help clear the dinner table tonight as she likes to just say may I leave the table and leave! Yesterday I had to make quite a few journeys after dinner despite being up since 5am and working 8 hours in a very hot warehouse as she'd scarpered. She had the cheek to ask me what my last slave had died of, though she reluctantly did help. This was after she'd given me 2 letters from school asking for money for trips and as I'm the only wage earner it's my exhausting day job that pays for them.

Yourcatisnotsorry · 13/09/2023 20:14

I think you’re brilliant! Next time sit on a manspreader please!

BotterMon · 13/09/2023 20:27

Well done OP! Brilliant.

I can't stand it when people put their feet on the seats on public transport. Who the hell has dragged these scrotes up?

Good. I'd honestly hope you chose to say something rather than just 'be pissed off', so you could explain yourself as to exactly why as an adult you feel that not just your bag, but your fucking feet are entitled to seats when a lot of people are trying to get a seat. I mean, older teenagers doing it, is bad enough. Doing it as a grown adult and you're just a societal neanderthal and deserve to be treated like one.

Brava, OP, brava. 👏🏻

Rifalo · 14/09/2023 01:26

Love this. Really made me laugh. Well done OP. Hopefully the girl and her feet learned a valuable lesson.

YDBear · 14/09/2023 01:50

I’d have picked up her bag, thrown it down the bus, then sat in the seat she was in, as she ran to get the bag.

dresstime · 14/09/2023 02:51

I often take the same bus to work in the morning. Your post reminded me of a lady who sometimes takes the same bus. She has the most beautiful long and curly hair but she flicks it over the back of the seat and it's very annoying at times. I have a secret fantasy about taking out a pair of scissors and snipping it off. I'm a bad person aren't I?

givemeasunnyday · 14/09/2023 03:11

Good for you!!! So many people these days in their own little bubble, thinking they are the only person in the world.

The people making excuses for the teen - get over yourself! If I was on a bus with my feet on seats (not that I can imagine I would be) and I saw people getting on the bus I would move my feet. There are no excuses.

OP shouldn't have had to say 'excuse me' when it was quite obvious she was looking for a seat. It's not her fault some people are, apparently, dragged up and not taught manners. To be 'seriously pissed off' by someone wanting one seat on a bus while you took up more than one tells me just what sort of person you are. Hopefully if someone ever does have to sit on your feet to get you to move it will be an extremely large person and they break your foot Smile

🤣🤣🤣🤣OP will sit on anyone. Unless you’ve paid for other seats to accommodate bags/feet/popcorn! Shouldn’t have your dirty shoes on seats anyway. RUDE!

JetBlackSteed · 11/09/2023 23:47

I would be interested to know who was sat in the other corner of the back seats that you chose to leave be and pick on the teenage girl?

Pick on the teenage girl?

You mean the pain in the arse entitled brat with dirty feet on the seat and taking up four seats on a busy bus?

Would it be ok if it was a skinny boney arse? If your feet are on seats where arses should be, then either put them on the floor where feet should be or accept getting them sat on?

It's really that simple!

Arses on seats
Feet on floor

HTH

EarringsandLipstick · 14/09/2023 04:26

I think YWNU, sorry OP. Fully agree with all your sentiments, however I can't understand (even reading your updates) why you didn't just ask her to move.

Sitting on someone's feet, without even asking them to move, is just another rude action.

EarringsandLipstick · 14/09/2023 04:27

Sorry I meant, YWBU, not sure what way I mangled the letters there!

Luckypom · 14/09/2023 04:42

@Toenailz

I am with you!

I have not displayed my best behaviour when challenged that ‘there is no such thing as a Que for a bus’ though so maybe I’m just getting old and miserable 😉

sparklefresh · 14/09/2023 06:24

You're doing the lord's work, OP. I salute you.
