AIBU to have sat on her feet

Tongue in cheek really, I feel perfectly reasonable. OH thinks I'm getting old, intolerant, and grumpy.

Got on the bus today with shopping bags in tow, they're heavy and I'm knackered (I have a disability that causes chronic exhaustion, but it's invisible). It's heaving busy in town/on bus, so I head to the back of the bus so we can fit some bags on our lap/feet out of people's way/the aisle.

One corner of the back seats is taken. The other corner has one, older teenage girl, taking up 4 seats with herself taking one seat, her handbag taking another, and her feet on the 2 seats in front of her, burying her head in her phone as if she can't see us. Didn't move her handbag or feet from the two seats, despite my obviously being right in front of her, so I just gave up and sat on her feet.

She removed them sharpish, probably because I'm quite fat.

Probably not helped by the inward trip earlier today, where having dodged one teenager's leg placed right into the aisle, I tripped over the next one's leg in aisle and went flying.

I couldn't be arsed asking her to move, because I was about 6 inches in front of her, my OH had sat in the seat next to her handbag, so there's no way she couldn't have known we were there (no headphones, either) so I thought, if you're going to pretend I'm not there, I'm going to pretend you're not. But ffs, I sat on a teenager. ON PURPOSE. Not a high point in my life.

This really made me laugh, OP! 😂

Glad you got a seat in the end.

Excellent behaviour. More of this please.

Thank you OP. You made me laugh! Perhaps you should have asked her to move her feet, but really! She shouldn't have had her feet on the seats anyway. Feet on the seats really irritates me on an empty train/bus etc, never mind a packed one.

This made me laugh. I'd probably have asked her to move her feet first though. It reminds me of when I broke a bone in my partner foot by sitting on it when I was pregnant. I honestly didn't have the energy to wake him up to move them. (He was napping after work)

I'm oblivious to stuff around me when I'm on my phone but as my mam brought me up to show respect (no feet on the seats and give an adult my seat) I'd have been checking to see if anyone needed my seat. Maybe she would show more manners next time. No doubt she's posted on Facebook or ticktock about it. 🤣

99 times out of 100 getting on a bus and sitting on someone's feet without any consultation whatsoever will not end well, and therefore that was probably your luckiest moment of the week.

99 times out of 100 taking up several seats by yourself when tens of people are in need of a seat is met with no challenge whatsoever. Guess it was her unlucky day.

I'm not averse to defending myself if I have to. I've dealt with much scarier and larger creatures than a human being, in a day job before I've even had breakfast.. Women are the not quite the wallflowers you'd like to believe.
