She has d&v like I had the last couple of days. I have a training all day, what would you do ? Stay with her or go ? I was really sick with it at first. I don’t know what to do

She's 16?

Make sure she has everything she needs and go

UndercoverCop · 09/09/2023 03:49

Who will have her while you're at training? Her dad/willing grandparent, still go. Nursery/childminder won't take her

UndercoverCop · 09/09/2023 03:49

Sorry I assumed you meant 16 month old

Ragwort · 09/09/2023 03:50

Are you worried about leaving her or the fact you may be contagious yourself?

At 16 I am sure she can look after herself, in fact there's nothing worse than someone hovering around when you are ill with S & D.

Pinktrousers2020 · 09/09/2023 03:56

She is 16 years old. She just projected vomiting everywhere in the bathroom :( I just feel bad I gave it to her.

Well you shouldn't be going if you are still unwell, otherwise I'm sure at 16 she should be able to cope alone.

Mrsmulhern · 09/09/2023 03:58

D&v is contagious, don’t feel bad. Make sure he has everything she needs and her phone nearby for a text.

HamBone · 09/09/2023 03:59

Leave her at home to rest and recover. She’s 16, she’ll be fine. If you’ve already had the bug, you’ll also be fine-unless you think that you’re still contagious and will pass it onto everyone at the training?!

Hummingbird89 · 09/09/2023 04:08

I get the mum guilt, I know she’s 16 but she’s still your daughter. But, she WILL be fine. Leave her all she needs and make sure her phone is charged up, be on standby in case she needs you. She probably won’t, though.

Splat92 · 09/09/2023 04:11

No way would I have stayed home with a16 year old and I think it would look bad to your employer if you did. They're definitely old enough to look after themselves.

myfavouritemutant · 09/09/2023 04:23

Are you 48 hours passed any symptoms yourself? If not you shouldn’t be going of course. But assuming so, I’d say at 16 she’ll be ok on her own.

Takacupokindnessyet · 09/09/2023 04:42

If you have had it in the past 48 hours you shouldn't go, otherwise I would leave a 16 year old

Lastchancechica · 09/09/2023 05:35

If she is really ill I wouldn’t want to her leave her all day either. I would gor for a few hours or cancel.

LightSpeeds · 09/09/2023 05:49

You shouldn't be going training if you're not 48 hours clear. You'll pass it on.

Also, ask your daughter if she wants you to stay with her. You can be pretty ill with those bugs. She may need you.

Globules · 09/09/2023 06:23

My 16 yr old wouldn't want me there. I'd leave a sick bowl, a massive jug of water and tootle off. She'll be ok.

Ozziedream · 09/09/2023 06:28

If she’s 16 years old and you are a full 48 hours past your last vomit or d. then go. Make sure she understands to take teeny tiny sips of water all day.

Viviennemary · 09/09/2023 06:30

I wouldn't even think there was a reason to stay with a 16 year old unless there was special needs.

Kidsandcat · 09/09/2023 06:31

Depends, does she want you to stay? How important is the training? Are you still contagious?

My 16 year old begged me to stay with him when he was ill, and he normally can't wait to get rid of me!!!

HoppingPavlova · 09/09/2023 06:40

Unless a drip feed coming re SN, I would just leave her with water jug and go.

WaltzingWaters · 09/09/2023 06:44

She’ll be fine on her own at 16 and probably prefer not to have someone hovering over her. But I’m sure everyone on the training would rather not catch it. So don’t go unless you’re pretty sure you’re past the contagious stage.

Mumdiva99 · 09/09/2023 06:46

Blimey, I would be as conflicted as you. Is there another family member that can come over?

If my 15 year old had a nasty bug I would want to stay. He is rarely ill and until I knew he was at the stage where he is sleeping it off I would be concerned
about what if he doesn't make the bathroom in time, what if there is projectile sick everywhere - he doesn't yet have the life experience to cope with the illness and the cleaning together etc etc

How important is the training?

Furrydogmum · 09/09/2023 06:47

Have you done a covid test? May be worth doing one as the new variant is presenting with d&v, and a training course isn't the ideal place to take it. Hope you both feel better soon.

givemeasunnyday · 09/09/2023 06:51

She will be fine, but how long ago since you had it? You might still be contagious and I'm sure no-one else wants it.

GrinAndVomit · 09/09/2023 06:51

If you’re 48 hours clear of any sickness and diarrhoea, you should go to your training.
She’ll be fine ☺️

Doingmybest12 · 09/09/2023 06:53

I don't think your colleagues will thank you for going even if you are 48 past being sick yourself. If you made small talk with me before the training and mentioned this I'd be moving to the other edge of my seat. If there is any choice I wouldn't go to be in an enclosed space with others. Also if she really can't make it to the toilet i probably would feel I should be home with her.
