For context I have been messaging this person and sometimes I don’t reply quickly due to working or other things and this is what he says. Top message supposed to say ‘at messaging’ I’m guessing..I’m mid twenties and he is mid thirties.

What would your thoughts be if you received this text message?

You can do better!!!

Backtoblack1 · 08/09/2023 05:22

Off putting on so many levels.

Lonicerax · 08/09/2023 05:26

Do people talk about smacked bums nowadays? Are you sure he’s not 60+

TeenMum87 · 08/09/2023 05:28

I think he belongs in a Carry On Movie.
Run.

Frangipaneloathing22 · 08/09/2023 05:34

Interesting how two lines of text can tell you so much about a person. Just horrendous in every way.

Leaving aside the dreadful spelling; it’s his shocking, rude, entitlement that comes across in that:

(i) he think it’s ok to tell you how “crap” you are for not confirming to his expectations and

(ii) he thinks it’s ok to tell you what punishment you deserve for not doing so.

I think I would reply “wanker” and block as that just about covers it.

misssunshine4040 · 08/09/2023 05:34

I would think he's really angry that you don't give him the attention he thinks he deserves and the smack bottom remark is him trying to hint at how pissed off he is.

Entitled, needy, narcissist who has no respect for your time or feelings.
Run

blendedfamly · 08/09/2023 05:35

It's a passive aggressive way of saying they don't like it when you do that. My ex mil use to do it "I'll have to give blended a smacked bum if she does that again " Tinkly laugh.

It's patronising, irritating and shows a lack of ability to communicate proficiently . Also I would be annoyed at feeling like I have to jump when he texts. It would be a no thank you from me.

Nowanextraone · 08/09/2023 05:40

Trez1510 · 08/09/2023 01:38

He's your prince. Nab him quick before someone else does.

🤣

marblesthecat · 08/09/2023 05:47

Pretty much what everyone else has,, said. Needy, annoying and can't spell. How old is he?

Raisinnola · 08/09/2023 05:48

I would actually assume he’s testing the water to see if you’d be open to a bit of bedroom related spanking. I can almost guarantee.

isthismylifenow · 08/09/2023 05:55

It's a line from Shrek.

My DC and I use this line in jest from time to time. Using the accent and all.

But depending on how well you know this person does factor in.

The spelling isn't great, I agree.

MrsToothyBitch · 08/09/2023 05:58

Instant ick. Needy and with poor literacy.
I'd ditch immediately.

Tanfastic · 08/09/2023 05:59

YoureALizardHarry11 · 08/09/2023 01:35

He’s laying down his controlling expectations early while disguising it as a joke. He also comes across a bit thick, so it would put me off for that alone.

Absolutely this 💯

Zanatdy · 08/09/2023 06:02

In the dump pile. Last guy I was seeing didn’t message back for hours sometimes, he was a single dad and was busy with kids or his job, or just life. I don’t expect people to be messaging me back and forth constantly, even though I am a bit of a texter so would be happy with that I guess in the right circumstances. But I’d never be telling people they aren’t replying fast enough. But there’s a red flag right there, he’s got an expectation of you already and assume you’ve not met yet. I’d tell him I have a life and don’t have time to be messaging back in second. In the bin pile

Dunnoburt · 08/09/2023 06:03

Got the ick on your behalf OP

ChaToilLeam · 08/09/2023 06:05

Uuurgh, ick! This from a grown man?

whichwayiwonder · 08/09/2023 06:05

Grim

ElFupacabra · 08/09/2023 06:17

Well, I’m glad I didn’t judge my my husband as a “thick, illiterate, moron, insert other offensive trope here” because of his awful spelling and grammar. But ableism and classism on MN is rife so not surprised.

The smacked bum message IS reason to swerve this one though @Blueeyedmale and @blendedfamly summed it up the why.

Tinkerbyebye · 08/09/2023 06:19

I would be telling him not to bother contacting me again.

Whatswhatwhichiswhich · 08/09/2023 06:25

Oh good god 🤢 he’s treating you like you’re a child, run far and fast and never look back. Don’t even message him, just block. That’s vile.

Mothermummymum · 08/09/2023 06:29

Maybe he’s dyslexic and maybe he’s trying to have a laugh.

LovingMyLiver · 08/09/2023 06:30

Just desperate and sleazy

Cinnamope · 08/09/2023 06:31

Urgh instant ick

GarlicGrace · 08/09/2023 06:35

But ableism and classism HmmHmm

So you're suggesting disabled people and working-class people are semi-literate, @ElFupacabra?

PPs with dyslexia on this very thread have commented that they can write a text properly. And I'm sure you can now see the classism in your own reply.

IncompleteSenten · 08/09/2023 06:36

Needy.
Would put me right off
