Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

I remember howling laughing at the 'weird things your body does' thread... twitchy fannies signaling danger cos its where our tails would have been when we were monkeys 🐒

Palindrone · 02/09/2023 15:22

The woman worried about her ex feeding their kids roadkill, namely badger.

grass321 · 02/09/2023 14:38

Ah yes patio drainage wars, what happened in the end?

She turned out to be a liar. She had a name change fail and it became clear that she was also the OP of a long running parking thread.

Wheresmytrainers · 02/09/2023 15:25

I always think of the Savernake Forest one when I have forgotten to shut my chickens up and its gone dark. Hate going outside to do that now and run in from the garden every time. Also, the yoni massage one and one from many years ago when someone posted that their child had leukaemia, it was a massive multiple thread one even with photos. It turned out to be a troll. I always think of that if I feel I'm getting invested in a thread.

thaegumathteth · 02/09/2023 15:25

Definitely 'your minge'.

Also one about a lady who had 3 kids and her husband had died. She lived on the west coast of Scotland I think? People rallied round. Then I think she remarried and he became very unwell and possibly died. It was horrible.

PeachesVonBeach · 02/09/2023 15:21

I was also going to mention the yoni massage thread.

Center Parcs = bum sex thread 😂 Always makes us laugh at Center Parcs. Especially when then introduced a shopping bag that stated “reuse until my bottom is worn out” 🤣

and the very elaborate parking thread where lots of cars got towed.

I have clearly been on MN for far too long over the last 13 years (many many name changes after identifying a good school mum friend from her AIBU 😨)

was the parking thread one where the op tried to earn a woman about the parking suspension signs and got told to duck off; there was a road worker who measured everything by teeny tiny footsteps and a wolfhound had his own bedroom? Plus a segue into plague pits along with photos? I loved that thread.

One of those words was warn and another fuck. Bloody autocorrect

myaheeho · 02/09/2023 15:27

It wasn't a post but a comment on a thread a long time ago
It was about appreciating the noises of everyday home live as she said she used to pray for a quiet house, and years later her husband had died, her kids had left home and all she ever heard was silence
It was so sad, and every time the kids are driving me crazy being noisy I always think back to that comment and appreciate what I have

Eastisup · 02/09/2023 15:29

The one about the woman who was blocked in by a twat in a Ford Ranger. It went to classics and ran for about 5 threads, her brother got involved at some stage too...I was hooked for days 😂

I loved the fake Take a Break thread! All the clichéd phrases used but especially when the narrator of the article would say something like she giggled to her friends about how handsome her new boyfriend was. There would of course be a photo of the handsome boyfriend who always looked like a thumb and was always either an electrician or a decorator.

I think I wrote some of that thread. My sisters and I speak fluent Take A Break language, because our aunt, who was a dental receptionist, used to give old issues to our mother when we were teenagers, and for years we communicated exclusively in TAB headlines like MEDDLING MOTHER-in-LAW CAUGHT ME CANOODLING WITH RED-HOT LOVER and KORMA BLIMEY: HOW I WENT FROM 28-STONE RECLUSE TO SLINKY GRAN FOR THE LOVE OF PARESH FROM OUR LOCAL CURRY HOUSE.

Come to think of it, I think my sisters still have a WhatsApp dedicated to those batshit household tips and money savers that said things like ‘Don’t buy slippers — sellotape sanitary towels to your feet for cosy winter mornings!’

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 02/09/2023 15:29

The one where the poster replied to themselves years later regarding a pushchair. First post was asking opinions. Second post she replied having bought the pushchair and then recommending it to herself😂 It was the poster was said “you do know you’re talking to yourself?”

Sapphire387 · 02/09/2023 15:29

Oh god, the Savernake Forest one, always.

Ljh2019 · 02/09/2023 15:30

there was a thread years ago where the cheeky MIL had stolen load of floor tiles which had been a gift to the OP. Still sometimes try to find it!

The one with the creepy music in the garden and the even creepier deletion message.

Oh yes i remember this thread!! What was the outcome?

Thepeopleversuswork · 02/09/2023 15:36

Don’t think I saw the Sistine Chapel one. Can someone link?

Penis Beaker and Snapped and Farted are mine.

MrsMitford3 · 02/09/2023 15:37

The t-rex arms husband. Think that one is in Classics. The whole thread wonderful!

Somerville navigating life after loss-so lovely

The new Mum who read that the baby should always have one more layer on than her SO SHE TOOK OFF HER OWN COAT so the baby had on more than her.😂

Mexican house thief is spectacular.

bucketsofdaylight · 02/09/2023 15:39

I'm sure I saw the original Mumsnet roast chicken feeding a family for a week thing when it was first written, but I've never been able to find it since. Only references to it.

I remember one about a parent getting annoyed because she'd had balloons and pizzas delivered to her child's school on their birthday and couldn't work out why it was an issue. She just basically accused anyone disagreeing with her of being joyless, miserable or teachers... (or joyless, miserable teachers).

And one where a woman's friend wanted to move in with her and basically started stalking her when she said no.

And one similar to the sister-tenant one. An OP had inherited a house with tenants in situ and was basically told she should just give them the house.

Sandunesandseashells · 02/09/2023 15:40

The original Dressing Gown of Doom thread about competitive illness from spouse.

Already mentioned but my favourite the home made fat balls the husband ate thinking they were artisan cheese and the smallest child whining “but why did daddy eat mine?” Fabulous.

I also followed Polly and her journey away from Geller not 100% convinced it was genuine.
