Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

"You ARE the Christmas Carcass!"

So random but it has stuck in my head

Suzy Quattro's fat nan.

I swear I'll never buy another leather jacket again!

@RaisedByHedgehogs very similiar from about 15 years ago. the mum who fed 1st born new foods in carpark of hospital. often wonder how she and child are!

I only read about that after I discovered ds1 had anaphylactic allergies. I thought the idea was inspired! Mind you….we only live 2 mins from the hospital!

savethegorgeousbees · 02/09/2023 14:58

One of the first ones I read since joining Mumsnet about a lady who was worried someone was stalking her as she found footprints and had other unusual things happen. I think of that one a lot.

NegativNancy · 02/09/2023 14:58

Brian from Hull, the guy who selflessly offered MNers free 'yoni massages.' Grim but hilarious.

Having been here for about 1200 years, how do I not know about screaming in the Sistine Chapel?! Can anyone link me up?
(I think of lobster boy and Chopin&chsmpagne, plus a lovely lady with an abusive ex, and the long trail through the process of her divorce (onit)

I can’t find the Sistine chapel link but it was something along the line of OP being so moved/overwhelmed by the chapel and its history that she began wailing/screaming with emotion inside. All the replies were utterly baffled.

Ah yes patio drainage wars, what happened in the end?

It was deleted after she had a name change fail....also responsible for Alphabet Street. Neither of which were genuine threads.

NegativNancy · 02/09/2023 15:01

Oh and the brilliant thread where the OP's wanker partner of years dumped her by text and ended with "no need to reply."
So she didn't. Ever. And it absolutely crackers, the prick. She was awesome.

SittingHereInLimbo · 02/09/2023 15:01

@feralunderclass it was Angela Hernandez. The OP had to speak at a company seminar, so got up & announced that was her name. Only it wasn't her name—Angela Hernandez was another manager who was at the same seminar. Mass confusion ensued.

My favourite: the OP who had her hair too-tightly permed, went home & her BIL yelled, "Bloody hell, it's Colonel Gaddafi!"

feralunderclass · 02/09/2023 15:02

@MrsMous there was a similar thread where an OP emigrated and had rented out her house very cheaply to her sister, BIL and their kids. The OP was returning and her sister basically said she couldn't have the house back because they couldn't afford a similar house. The OP asked if SWBU and the overwhelming majority was YES! and that she should just GIVE the sister her house because the dc had lived there for several years therefore it was "their home" and it would be so unfair to ask them to move somewhere else.
There's some utterly mad threads in the stepparenting forum too. OPs taking their dc and a stepdc out for the day but only buying their bio dc an ice cream because "they eat ice cream at their dm's house".

MeAgainPeeps · 02/09/2023 15:03

The one with the cameras all around the house. He worked away but had set up internal camera system to stalk her.

otherwayup · 02/09/2023 15:04

One that haunts me, from over a decade ago, is a poster in a horribly abusive relationship, desperate to escape.
She described in detail how he 'signalled' when she was to have sex with him, by trimming his pubic hair and leaving it scattered around the bathroom.
The poor woman was broken, I often wonder how she is and if she ever managed to escape him 🙁

RomaniIteDomum · 02/09/2023 15:04

The garden thief and SpanGran - woman lived in a listed building with six houses arranged in a quadrangle.

Four had gardens in the centre. Owners of house without garden illegally knocked patio doors through to hers.
Was a Spanish granny involved and the wall needed up collapsing.
Don't think OP ever posted a resolution as there was a lot of legal stuff going on but I've often wondered.

JamieFrasersfurrysporran · 02/09/2023 15:05

I don't think most of them were true

feralunderclass · 02/09/2023 14:55

There was a very funny mock Take a Break story thread where the OP started about a mature woman going to Turkey or Tunisia and finding a much younger man. Subsequent posters added bits onto it, it was very funny and very well written. Can't remember what it was called so if anyone remembers please link it.

A few that were apparently hilarious and in classics, but live in my head because I genuinely didn't understand them. One being baby Balonz from Frencham Ponds and other being No, I'm Caroline Fernandez (not real name). If anyone can explain either of these please do!

I loved the fake Take a Break thread! All the clichéd phrases used but especially when the narrator of the article would say something like she giggled to her friends about how handsome her new boyfriend was. There would of course be a photo of the handsome boyfriend who always looked like a thumb and was always either an electrician or a decorator.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 02/09/2023 15:06

What was in that locked victorian safe???

Was going to say this too - the Savernake forest thread. So creepy.

Found it, thank you.
Wow!!!

feralunderclass · 02/09/2023 15:06

@SittingHereInLimbo but why did the wrong Angela say that was her name? Was it an accident?

Clarie83 · 02/09/2023 15:07

The one where the poster was fuming at her mother for changing her mind about being her virtually full time live in nanny

TheMindfulMum · 02/09/2023 15:07

The poo curtain thread. The OP had a toilet with a steep drop into the water below and the family going for a number two was causing rather a lot of embarrassment to all due to landing noises.

She was (very seriously) asking for suggestions on how to muffle the noise of the plop. Unfortunately - for her - the replies weren't quite so serious. From toilet tissue landing pads, playing classical music to draping the toilet door with a thick curtain. I was in stitches and often chuckle when I think of the thread 😂😂😂

Me neither.

HappyHalley · 02/09/2023 15:08

'I can see your minge' and the one where the builder/painter brought his tiny elderly mother with him, to work on the OPs house. Both were awesome, but 'I can see your minge' pops into my head EVERY time I go swimming.
