Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

I often think of the young man who posted asking for advice on his son as he was recently widowed.

The one where the poster replied to themselves years later regarding a pushchair. First post was asking opinions. Second post she replied having bought the pushchair and then recommending it to herself😂 It was the poster was said “you do know you’re talking to yourself?”

Edited

I remember that!
Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sinister Easter bonnet. I cried laughing at the photo of it and had it saved on my phone for years after.

@RoonilWazlib21 - I still have it!

The lady who had taken in a parcel for a neighbour and her nd child had opened it and smeared shit all over it. I would love to see that one again. The parcel was a pouffe if anyone can track it down.

I'm someone who struggles to ask the smallest favour, so other people's cheeky fuckery has me in complete awe. So the ones I remember are CF ones, mostly.

There was a wedding one, where the OP was not invited to this wedding of a "friend", but was expected to pay for/provide decorations for the wedding and actually decorate the venue. I've got a vague feeling that might be the "stop the cheque" thread, but I could be wrong.

Another one where the OP had some sort of lovely gated garden with children's play equipment in it, and a neighbour was demanding use of it because it wan't fair her kids had nothing to play on.

Loveliest thread ever is Elderly Korean Lady, of course, with her son, there to dismantle and collect the summer house, and very pleased to receive some window boxes too. Sat all day in the OP's garden with her boxes of food. The OP's little child sat with her and they bonded, and she gave him some money as a parting gift. Started off as a CF thread, and ended up giving everyone a tear in their eye about humanity.

Really interesting topic @mosiacmaker

Mine is this one from 2004:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/relationships/27926-meeting-old-flame-for-first-time-in-20-years

which then lead to this one and became gripping read:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/relationships/29930-passionate-affair-with-ex-boyfriend

I often wonder what happened to the poster and what the outcome of this affair was.

Partly because I strongly suspected that I knew who this man was (married barrister in chambers in the Temple if I remember correctly and various other details throughout the threads).

Meeting old flame for first time in 20 years | Mumsnet

Feeling really excited and miserable at the same time. Contacted 1st ever boyfriend (2 year relationship) on FR and have now arranged to meet up in 2...

However, I always remember the peak Mumsnet post 'I only eat peas once or twice a year as a treat, too much carbs'

HoneyPotts · 02/09/2023 18:12

The cycling send off woman. She was a woman who used to wave off the OP husband and friends when they went cycling. She was like a character from Ab Fab and showed up to a BBQ at OP house and ignored her the whole time. OP was convinced she was having an affair with some of the men.

Two.

A property porn one where someone posted a rightmove link to a house that was crazy/ugly. Everyone piled on laughing at it. Then the actual owner came on and was furious. I do believe it was the owner from what she wrote. Everyone sort of slunk away....

The other one was my favourite.
Woman and all her family got to her house in an estate type car with double row of seats in the back. She was in the back row and someone had shut the boot before she got out. She initially said she was stuck in the car. No one missed her or came looking for her and she spent an hour in the car crying because no one realised she wasn't in the house.
But then she did say she could've climbed over and opened the side door of the car and gone into the house... but didn't.
She just sat and cried. It was batshit and hilarious!

Everyone was asking her why she just didn't get out the car and go in the house! 😂🤣

Oh my word, can anyone point the way to the property porn one? I would love to read that!

The one where the OP ran a business with her DH. She suspected he was having an affair with a woman living nearby.
OP had two teenagers and her whole life revolved around her family. DH admitted having the affair and left the home. She was so devastated.
There must have been 5 or 6 threads, with an amazing amount of support from posters.
Turned out she was a troll, but we found out, through MNHQ I think, that her very detailed description of her home and family were based on an actual family she knew of, and the fake story caused a great deal of distress to them.

I remember this and there was something about him receiving a parcel from Love Honey in the office which she opened and it was a penis extender.

HeadacheEarthquake · 02/09/2023 18:15

The one where an OP recommended a pram.to herself three years later after buying it - not realising she was replying to her old ancient post that nobody commented on

I laughed so hard I nearly vomited

The stuck in the car one has just reminded me of an OP who was feeling unwell and climbed up on the kitchen counter to access her medicine cabinet or something…but then she felt too sick to climb down so called her DH and cried and was upset he wouldn’t come from work to get her down!! I think all the replies were variations of ‘just move into a sitting position and hop down!! It’s the kitchen counter!’

This had me in hysterics just from you both recounting 😂
Didn't see the original threads.

Itham · 02/09/2023 18:18

Spangran and the patio doors was a troll.

Some of the posts about “school gate mums” and their sinister behaviour (smiling at one another etc) have made quite an impression on me I have to say. Just the sheer degree of paranoia some people seem to be living with. Not classics worthy just depressing.

It was hilarious 😂
