This winter?

Seen a couple of people posting about it, tbf they are conspiracy types, but I have anxiety after having covid & long covid and can’t go through all that again. Can anyone reassure me?

A nursing home in our town is shut as there is covid among the residents.
Covid will not go away. People who say just live with it aren't thinking of the vulnerable.

She certainly isn't.

The arrogance! My internet feelings are hurt 😂

sunglasses what the Government did WAS psychological abuse
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lockdowns-were-wrong-why-did-no-10-ignore-me-lvq252l9v

When these types of scenarios were replicated by various governments from all across the spectrum around the globe, would you still consider it particular psychological abuse by your own government? Or something more necessary in an emergent situation?

WhalePolo · 02/09/2023 08:01

@OCaptain

”Psychogical abuse by our government”

But the vast majority of comparable countries around the world were doing the same thing.

So that’s global psychological abuse? Every government colluding together to abuse their citizens?

Must be a conspiracy!

Now you're talking!

I don't mean this harshly but people do have lives to lead and bills to pay, what more are you suggesting they do at this stage?

I can empathise, I feel deeply internet wounded when someone who's moralised as much as you has the brass neck to call me arrogant. It's very guffaw inducing hurtful.

However the vaccine mandate for care workers was fucking insanity

Javid really needs to be held accountable for that one.

I'm fully vaccinated myself and generally a pro vaccine person, but it was incredibly obvious what was going to happen. The unions spelled it out very clearly. We're all still suffering from the ramifications of that terrible decision. I know bed blocking in the NHS was already a problem, but it's really increased.

Aw good, you deserve a bit of fun after all your struggle over the last few days. Warm fuzzies etc.

Packetofcrispsplease · 02/09/2023 11:48

Probably milder / different strains of Covid ?
But I’ve not heard of anything else .

JenniferBooth · 02/09/2023 16:13

O Captain sunglasses. Did all the other countries announce a November lockdown so families could see each other at Christmas (after it being illegal to see each other for most of the year) and then suddenly announce on 19th December "err no you cant see each other after all. And before anyone starts London and most of Essex were put into tier 4 on that day which was a lockdown in all but name. The cunts just didnt want to call it a lockdown. Then there was those bloody awful "look me in the eyes" posters.

I'm sure you know what other countries did.
Why are you asking me?

My friends in Italy, her 2 children didn't set foot outside their balcony flat for 3 months.

It was hard.

JenniferBooth · 02/09/2023 17:26

Im well aware of what went on in Italy being half Italian

sunglassesonthetable · 02/09/2023 17:33

I was really happy to participate in lockdown as my husband had cancer @JenniferBooth I was grateful it was happening. .I am grateful to everybody who took part. I was delighted to be in lockdown for that very specific reason.

And as @WhalePolo pointed out there is a bit of a collective amnesia about why we into lockdown in the first place. I signpost you to the interesting link she has posted.

So I'm not really sure why you're crying to me about the things that happened. Our government are bunch of clowns.

sunglassesonthetable · 02/09/2023 17:34

I was pretty sure you'd be across it anyway. A lockdown much harsher than ours.

sunglassesonthetable · 02/09/2023 17:37

They stared the reasons for lockdown right in the face in Italy.

JenniferBooth · 02/09/2023 18:48

sunglasses Im sorry to hear your DH had cancer I hope he has recovered.

While at my parents house on Christmas Day 2020 we had a video call from my Mums brother and all his family. It was his last Christmas. He died on 8th December 2021

sunglassesonthetable · 02/09/2023 18:55

My condolences.

PinkCherryBlossoms · 02/09/2023 19:22

I think it was just a hugely painful time in terms of bereavement and illness in particular. We had a family loss during the pandemic and obviously that was awful and made worse by the circumstances. Then Partygate retraumatised a lot of people too, and that's an ongoing open wound. My condolences to all affected.

PuzzledObserver · 03/09/2023 16:17

@sunglassesonthetable I wasn’t anti lockdown. I think I probably misinterpreted the first of your posts which I replied to, tbh.

I did however get very irritated with all the “do your own research” lines from people who had no expertise in epidemiology, statistics, or all the other things you needed to understand to make informed decisions, thinking they knew better than people who did have that expertise.

And looking down on people who chose to trust the ones who do have expertise. Sheeple, etc.

Couldn't agree with you more. 👏🏼

"do your own reasearch / educate yourself" which translates to i saw these tiktok videos and took them at face value.
