I'm a terrible mum. I just picked them up 🤷 as I thought they were the cooked version 🤢. They ate the whole pack before the guy told me. It's going to be a long messy weekend. 😭 They are going to be unwell and it's all my fault

Are you ok op because some of your replies are a bit nasty telling people to piss off and such. Its not unreasonable that someone would suggest ringing 111 as that's what I would do for advice rather than strangers on the net.

Hope the children are ok.

Some of the posts on here have been appallingly rude and judgemental. OP telling a few to piss off is mild and restrained.

@mrsbyers do you normally cook your food in acid?? 😂

Thats the best thing I’ve read on the internet today 😂

I take it you've never heard of ceviche

😂😂😂
omg, you’d get laughed out A&E

Hi OP,

I'm sorry you had such a scary time with this. They really should make the two types of packaging more obvious especially when the products are so similar.

Just to say that the incubation period for Campylobacter is 2-3 days and Salmonella is 12hrs to 3 days so it's worth keeping watch for a few more days. I know of at least one person who ate some raw chicken and got away with it though so fingers crossed.

Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 13:47

I was rude to some as they were being very judgemental and being assholes. Dont expect someone to reply politely if you post a rude comment either.

No they didn't even feel nasueas. Yes I'm hoping that we don't have a dormant strain. 🤞

Been happily playing and winding each other up all morning 😂. And enjoying the 🌞☀️

Going to triple check ✔️✅✔️ all packaging now.

One of my DC eats those because she's so fussy with her food (ASD). Yes maybe for the majority of kids they're not ideal to eat regularly but if a child has sensory issues they're actually pretty good!! Not sure why people had to me you feel bad for using them.

I'm glad your children are feeling well in themselves today. Easy mistake to make if you're feeling flustered.

Alcemeg · 25/08/2023 17:44

At least it wasn't chicken plops, OP, things could have been worse. Hopefully you will all weather the storm!!

Coffeemaniac · 25/08/2023 18:43

I have inadvertently done this, and I was fine. Btw I have the most sensitive stomach in the world and I was preparing for the worst, but I was fine.

ItcanbeDone · 25/08/2023 18:43

Do not beat yourself up, these things happen, I'm sure they'll be fine, just keep an eye, bless ya, xxxx

Toomuchtrouble4me · 25/08/2023 18:48

Hopefully Waitrose charge what they charge because they use good quality chicken.
My DD ate a chicken leg on Monday afternoon that had been in a lunch box at school since Friday morning. She was only 3 - and was fine. I waited all week for the poonami, but nothing.
hopefully they will be fine. Amazing that they are then though!

Carlosi456 · 25/08/2023 18:49

Latch key kids in the 70's. Got home after school and ate the half roasted chicken in the oven on a timer instead of heating up the spag bol on the hob. Only noticed when we figured the chicken was bloody, chewy and not very warm inside!
Nobody got sick. We survived. Mum worked in social services so, no neglect at all and exemplary parenting.
These things happen x

nickkinix · 25/08/2023 18:53

Hey OP hope kiddos are OK! My husband has done the exact same thing! Kids had already eaten before I took a bite and realised!! Don't worry about it, we all lived to tell the tale, it happens. For what it's worth, you'd think they would make it much more obvious on the packaging because they literally look identical to the ones that are precooked!

Icantfindmykeys · 25/08/2023 18:59

wutheringkites · 24/08/2023 16:26

Are you sure they were actually raw chicken and not pre-cooked ones that should be reheated?

This

Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 19:09

There's link definitely the ones that needed to be cooked / heated up. Also it was the actual manager who told me out of concern bless him 😳😳😳

How are they op?

Pickpocket · 25/08/2023 19:40

Whilst on holiday recently I starting eating some ready made prawn cocktail which I’d put in a sandwich which tasted very odd and fizzy although it was in date. I threw my sandwich away but kept quiet as my husband and son had already eaten their sandwiches without comment, we were all fine….phew!! 😂😂

Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 19:54

So far so good. Omg the prawn story!!!!

I’d give them a big glass of coke to drink - the acid in that may help to cook the chicken internally

You know your stomach contains hydrochloric acid right?

Langpants · 25/08/2023 20:18

Hahahahaha! OP, this story is gold, and one you will tell them when they’re older. No harm done. I’ve had a shit day with my own kids and this has really tickled me. Glad everyone is well though. x

MrsFiddle · 25/08/2023 20:22

10/10 for the best thread title this week 😂

Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 20:27

I gotta admit the coke theory is interesting. But yes everything is fine so far thanks 👍.
