I'm a terrible mum. I just picked them up 🤷 as I thought they were the cooked version 🤢. They ate the whole pack before the guy told me. It's going to be a long messy weekend. 😭 They are going to be unwell and it's all my fault

OP I’m sure they’ll be fine.

And to the dicks, fuck off

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 22:43

Thank you all for the kind messeges. And good health to you all. im to get my tiny sleep before chaos descends again. It's all quiet on the western front for now? 🤞. Sleep well everyone x

Not all chorizo is raw. Mexican is raw but Spanish isn't.

Uncooked does not equal raw. There are other ways to make food safe and ready to eat besides cooking. Salting, drying, dehydrating, fermenting, cold smoking, etc
Chorizo is a type of cured meat sausage. It's not raw. Just like salami.

Festivemoose · 24/08/2023 22:44

Spanish chorizo is dry cured - so made safe to eat by hanging in a ventilated space for a period of time (like salami). Mexican chorizo is not cured.

Sorry you got the sanctimonious bellends in your thread OP. Mistakes happen, everything is okay now and fingers crossed that extends to 24 hours too 💖

I've used the Mexican one in cooking and it's unmistakably raw, with the same texture as any other pork sausage. Kudos if anyone managed to down it anyway 😁

Chalk this one up to experience and use it as an excuse to get them off that sort of food.

Nothing wrong with chicken pops.

SonicStars · 24/08/2023 23:05

Yep. I've done that. Ate them by myself and it took an embarrassingly long time to realise I should have cooked them. Was fine.

Don't think I mixed them with coke, but can't guarantee I didn't, I do like coke.

Daffodil63 · 24/08/2023 23:14

Oh how stressful, try not to worry
I'm sure all mums on here have done something or other with our children at some point. I suppose you could call 111? I'm sure they will be fine. Good luck

Louise303 · 24/08/2023 23:24

My teen did this I was also very worried but thankfully he was okay he never got a dodgy tummy or anything. They looked cooked and he thought they were like the mini scotch eggs.

ImTheOnlyUpsyOne · 24/08/2023 23:48

Sorry i haven't read the whole thread but see that you're asleep now. My DH actually did this himself once and was fine. I'm pretty sure even though they DO need to be cooked they're not raw raw if you know what I mean. Hope you and the kiddos are all OK. Take care

User1287452 · 24/08/2023 23:57

Reminds me of the day I ate a huge bowl of spag bol ds had made in food tech. It was only after I'd eaten rather a lot of it that he helpfully told me his had been left out all day as there was no room in the fridge. All was well though! Also had a friend who ate a canteen chicken meal and discovered a bit too late that the inside of the chicken was red and raw looking. That was fine too!

8lue8irds · 24/08/2023 23:58

I have done the exact same thing years ago but with those satay chicken bits on a stick. Was mortified but all 3 kids were absolutely fine. I hope yours are too.

nokidshere · 25/08/2023 00:03

Hopefully they will be fine and suffer no ill effects. I'm another who used to eat raw bacon, sausages and got biscuits when I was younger!

When I was childminding a brother & sister some years ago they went home and told mum that I had given them chicken nuggets for dinner and they were nice but different because they were pink inside. She rang me immediately, obviously horrified. I'd made them salmon bites 😂

Airyfairy99 · 25/08/2023 00:22

Absolutely nothing. As I noted above, we are talking Waitrose here, not some dodgy chicken shop. They are pretty much chicken and breadcrumbs...... not sure why MN is so hysterical, processed yes, but not UPF.

Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 11:26

Morning everyone! Yes they had a good night and no sickness 🙏😁. All bouncing around!

OP posts:
Philandbill · 25/08/2023 11:28

Hurrah! Glad they are still well. Bet you were awake every time they so much as turned over in bed though....

Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 11:33

@Lucyboat I did respond harshly to some posters who were rude and snobbish. I didn't want to start a bun fight about UPF. As so many posts get derailed. But it's a bit of an overreaction to say your unsure to post 🙄. I'm sure if you read the thread it's been quite funny in places albeit unintentional! Since the kids were acting normally i.e being like a toddler on a red bull bouncing around. I didn't see the need to update it minute by minute. Just said I would keep an eye out for symptoms.

OP posts:
Fecksakereallygodreally · 25/08/2023 11:35

@Philandbill yes every time I heard a cough I was on panic mode 🤭.

Are you ok op because some of your replies are a bit nasty telling people to piss off and such. Its not unreasonable that someone would suggest ringing 111 as that's what I would do for advice rather than strangers on the net.

Hope the children are ok.
