To be furious that no-one from our Royal Family will be in person at Sunday's WWC Final

I really feel that if this was the National Men's Team, the RF would be out in force. The Lionesses have really championed women's football and I am astonished that The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte won't be at Sunday's final, to support them. It is an amazing achievement to get to the final. The Queen of Spain and her daughter will be there !!! AIBU to think our RF should be heading straight to Australia?

I agree with you. How very disappointing William isn’t even bothering to turn up. He would if it were the men’s team.

Yep. Women's football is really up and coming, regularly breaking records and breaking barriers for women's sports. I always thought Kate was very sporty, I wonder if they would have liked to attend? Anyway it seems they are misreading trends again.

WandaWonder · 17/08/2023 13:02

They fly out - isn't their troubles back in the uk/other ways to send messages/climate change

They don't - the world will end if they are not there

They can't win

LaDeeDa123 · 17/08/2023 13:02

They didn’t go to the RL cup final on Saturday. It’s literally down the road at Wembley and Kate is their patron. Fuck them. I resent paying for them when they treat us with utter contempt. Absolute fucking grifters.

BashfulClam · 17/08/2023 13:02

Furious-seems a bit OTT.

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 17/08/2023 12:55

Dammed if they do. Dammed if they don’t on this one.
people would be up in arms on the carbon footprint of the flight if they went.

I agree with this.

spanieleyes · 17/08/2023 13:03

Send them a nice " good luck" message, sit and watch it from home with a nice instagram picci, done!

StillWantingADog · 17/08/2023 13:04

If it was in Europe then I would 100% expect them to be there however it’s a very long way away and people will moan about their carbon footprint if they go.

on balance though I think they should make an effort. It should have been “pencilled in” the diary IMO.

StartupRepair · 17/08/2023 13:04

It has not been lost on Australia that William as the future Head of State was supporting the Lionesses.

Ponoka7 · 17/08/2023 13:05

Fuckingfuming1 · 17/08/2023 12:54

That’s quite a thing to arrange logistically in less than 48 hours, then a 24 hour flight I would imagine their diaries get booked up years in advance

They manage it for the men's football.

It just shows what a load of shit t is when Will's and Kate declare how much Charlotte lives football. Of course one of them should be there, every other country has a royal, or equivalent going. I'm noticing the amount of girls who are talking about football when out with my GC. This is a massive thing and for those that aren't interested, it brings in a lot of money for the UK and benefits local communities. A struggling local business was picked for the annual outing by a big local football academy (we are in Liverpool). Likewise the local pizza/breakfast places chosen for the £200 order on a Sunday and the Christmas outings. It's a disgrace the way the royals can pick and choose and get away with it.

MMorales · 17/08/2023 13:05

So if it had been the mens World Cup final, do you think they would have made the effort to go?

Ineedwinenow · 17/08/2023 13:06

They are playing the other side of the world, are you flying out OP?

Stopbeing ridiculous, why would they fly out for 90 mins, yeah maybe if they were in Europe they would just hop on a plane but everyone would be up in arms if they flew out for this match!

Honestly the Royal Family can’t do right for doing wrong on MN! leave them alone and get with being furious about your own life instead of theirs.

LadyKenya · 17/08/2023 13:08

Yabu to be furious imo.

DewinDwl · 17/08/2023 13:09

Ah well. At the end of the day you could have an English team being world champions of arguably the most competitive, most widely-played team sport in the world. Not a big deal.

Laiste · 17/08/2023 13:09

Nah - i'd be eye-rolly if he'd gone.

Flying to the other side of the world to watch one football match and then home again?

I'd like to think that this is the start of members of the royal family (and the staff who go with them) NOT jetting around the world to appear as a token statement for one game of anything!

LakeTiticaca · 17/08/2023 13:10

They wouldnt be booking any flights for the Mens world cup cos England never get to the final 🤣🤣🤣
Anyway the Aussies want to bin off the RF don't they, so no point wasting time.and money on a long and arduous flight 😉😉

Butterflywings2 · 17/08/2023 13:11

I'm sure there will be some sort of acknowledgement from the RF. "Furious" is a bit OTT. It's not as if they can just pop over for the night.

Tippley · 17/08/2023 13:12

He'd be criticised whatever he does, so makes sense to not travel across the globe for a 90 minute match. He sent a message during his summer break to both our team and Australia's, and I'm sure they'll do something for the women's team when they return to the UK, but no I don't think it's outrageous or whatever else. People would soon be crying hypocrite because of his environmental work, and I don't think he has travelled as far as Australia for a men's match, has he?

Laiste · 17/08/2023 13:12

I guess also, as head of state in waiting, William can't really be over there waving the flag for England ... he has to pretend show a bit of impartiality.

It's a bit different for the spanish royals. They're not also the heads of state for Oz!

BIossomtoes · 17/08/2023 13:14

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 17/08/2023 12:55

Dammed if they do. Dammed if they don’t on this one.

This. However they’d played it they’d have been criticised.

Topseyt123 · 17/08/2023 13:17

I'd be astonished if they did do this. They surely couldn't justify the flight just for one football match, no matter what the Spanish royal family do.

safetyfreak · 17/08/2023 13:17

Lazy, sexist sods.

LlynTegid · 17/08/2023 13:19

Agree with those who say that the Prince of Wales cannot win either way. Though it would be less unreasonable than most of the flights and helicopter journeys our current Prime Minister makes.

FlowersareEverything · 17/08/2023 13:20

YABU. It would have been disgraceful to have flown to Australia just to watch a game of football. I’m sure there will be others there representing the FA.

keiratwiceknightly · 17/08/2023 13:20

They'll send a good luck video from home**

DdraigGoch · 17/08/2023 13:20

MMorales · 17/08/2023 13:05

So if it had been the mens World Cup final, do you think they would have made the effort to go?

Well it's been 57 years since the last opportunity to test this, did any royals go to Wembley then? Though that's much closer to home and security would have been less of a concern than it is now.
