The recent pictures of Daniela Westbrook has attracted a lot of negative comments. I can’t help but feeling sorry for someone who clearly has had issues to deal with throughout her life.

Do you find it is rude to say she looks awful?

Yes, I do, because she has a facial disfigurement and 'awful' is not a word that should be used in this context. Bad hairstyles and clothes and things that can be changed are 'awful'. It may have been self inflicted through addiction but she still deserves compassion. It's hardly an option to live with a bag on your head.

There was an ex-Eastenders actor who ended up working in B&M. She was only in it a short time yet it was splashed all over the papers. Luckily they got bored easily and moved on. If Daniella Westbrook tried to work in Asda it would be ridiculous. The press would no doubt be trying to get embarrassing photos of her and there would be all sorts of weirdos turning up.

I saw her about a year again on the train. She looked tiny and very, very vulnerable. Photos don’t really convey it. If she hadn’t have been who she was I would have assumed she was a drug user if I being honest. The DM and other tabloids are just being cruel with the endless photos.

No its all from drug abuse. She likes to claim they botched her surgery by showing a very heavily filtered picture of herself saying this is what she looked like before and this is after. It's all bollocks. She has no one to blame but herself. You would think when she lost her septum that would have been a wake up call, but she is still snorting away on the coke.

She sells the pictures herself so she is obviously happy for them to be out there. These are not in the wild pap pictures. She is posing for them. Any photo credits of Backgrid are the person getting friend/family/someone to take pictures of themselves and then selling them to Backgrid. Loads of z listers use Backgrid to earn money.

Yep that's it. First I thought was that they were intrusive pap photos.

Then it dawned on me.

I see this as the best advert of all for kids to avoid drugs at all costs. The poor thing is being exploited. I don’t know how anyone can look at the photos and feel anything other than empathy.
She is a survivor.

We do have a deficit. But she's still a drug addict with no evidence that she can actually usefully perform unskilled labour, and whose presence is going to attract untoward attention. One can see why the average NMW employer would rather just manage without.

Hmm, is she really happy for them to be out there or is she desperate for money?

I don't understand why she looks so old though - sunbeds? Yes her nose collapsed but that doesn't explain her neck etc.

I don't feel sorry for her, she did it to herself.

She looks dreadful.,but I saw these pictures on Facebook yesterday and the the daily mail ( I think)/had posted them saying how glamorous she looks they know full.well.she doesn't look glamorous they are just trying to.provoke horrible comments

What a lot if people forget is that she was also in a horrendous car crash that knocked a load of her teeth out. The cocaine knackered her nose and bones but the car crash really accelerated it,
Then what put the final nail in is when she had teeth implants, which completely knackered her jaw.
it wasn’t all due to the drugs but that’s what made her susceptible in the first place

Just a reminder of how she used to look.
I don't care if she did this to herself, it's just a cruel, horrible way to end up.
I wish her well for the future.

She was (is?) a smoker as well as all the rest. And probably hasn't cared at all about sun safety over the years.

Here we go again - “why can’t she just stack shelves in a supermarket” is such an old fashioned thing to say.

The online application is long and complicated, involving lots of “what would you do in this situation” type questions, examples of when you have shown initiative etc. You have to turn up for a whole day’s training which you better pass or you’re out. Asda used to ask you to work a 4 hour trial shift unpaid (maybe they still do?)

They prefer people with retail experience, competition is fierce, hours are not guaranteed, it is a physically demanding job, you have to multi task between shop floor, self service checkouts, tills and warehouse. Why anyone thinks it’s an easy choice for someone who is down on their luck is beyond me.

Regarding Daniella’s lifestyle, I just think about all the ordinary non famous ex (or current) drug addicts who can’t make a quick buck from the Daily Mail. I guess they have to resort to stealing from said supermarkets to get by, instead of the freebies and cash available to Z listers so we can all laugh at them.

She’s a lot better off than some people.

I had not heard of this lady before, but is she is/was an addict and this is the main cause of her unfortunate condition then saying that she has "no-one to blame but herself" is not right or fair. It is a mental disorder.

The photos are always by Backgrid so she has a relationship with them to take the photos and get them published, probably to benefit financially.
It’s a shame she has no good supportive friends to try and help her, she continually makes awful choices I feel sad for how her life has become.

I used to want to be like her when she was Sam in Eastenders, my teenage self thought she was very glamorous compared to podgy, ginger, bespectacled me.

I't really sad to see how she has ended up.

I heard of one report saying that she was trying to sell her old implants on only fans for £40 thousand pounds.
Desperately sad if it is true.

She is selling photo opportunities to the media, so these shots were taken and sold with her permission, but the way the tabloids are using them is horrible and exploitative and I doubt she has capacity to make wise decisions at the moment.

It's very obvious that she has all sorts of mental and physical health issues and the only reason the Mirror and the Mail are running these stories is because they are fully aware that people will share the link just to say how terrible she looks (they knew exactly what they were doing with that sarcastic reference to Monroe). The fact that she is apparently willing to undergo that kind of humiliation for a cut of the photographer's fee is indicative of her desperation - I strongly doubt she'd be setting up pictures like this if she had any other viable way of making a living, and the papers are exploiting her desperation and her poor mental health for every last penny they can.

It's also worth remembering that she first started doing cocaine in nightclubs at the age of 14, so the very fact that she was even in a situation where going clubbing with adults and being offered coke at that age was something she was allowed/able to do is a pretty obvious sign that she's had an utterly dysfunctional childhood from the start. Poor girl.

Gosh, so awful. . I also don't understand how she can't have a reconstruction of her face, people have reconstruction after horrific car accidents, burns, gunshots, cancer, there must be a maxillofacial surgeon who could help reconstruct her face.

The difficulty isn’t in getting a job at a supermarket or newsagents, it’s in going from attending celebrity parties and TV awards ceremonies dressed in designer clothes with hair and make up professionally done etc. to “stacking shelves”. I don’t think anything could find that anything other than excruciating.

Leave her alone.

She does appear to be active in her addiction. No employer would touch her. She has choices, but because of her addiction, chooses the only way she knows to get enough money to fund her habit. Its very sad.

Yeah people love to claim how disgusting it is and how she's being exploited and how they feel sorry for her but they're the ones reading the articles and even sharing the links to give these stories more traction.

Sorry OP. You're part of the problem. It's voyeuristic and just what these newspapers want.

I think it’s probably because she won’t quit smoking and is still an addict. She was warned that must give up smoking before having teeth implants and carried on and that’s one of the reasons they failed.
