To think a friendship between a 20 year old and 27 year old is odd

And the gap. Is massive

The person I get on most with at work is 50. I'm literally 6 weeks younger than his daughter

Glitterblue · 12/08/2023 07:22

Absolutely not odd in the slightest! One of my best friends is 30 and I’m 45, another of my best friends is 54, one is 57 and I have a very close friend in her 80s!

littleboymama · 12/08/2023 07:38

Are you the same person who kept asking if 27 is too old to live at home with parents, are you now concerned that said 27 year old now has a 20 year old friend 😂

Seriously though, no - not odd at all. I have friends younger than me and older.

AuntMarch · 12/08/2023 07:42

Once you start work, you start making friends of all ages. I'm under 40 and have friends over 60. They're in massively different phases of life to me - I have a 4 year old and they're starting to retire.
Doesn't stop them being what I would consider friends.

I doubt the OP is coming back. A quick contentious post and then make a run for it.

clpsmum · 12/08/2023 08:31

Not at all

maddening · 12/08/2023 08:35

One of my best friends is 7 years younger - we were friends at that age - we are best of friends still at 38 and 45

Ginmonkeyagain · 12/08/2023 08:55

Umm how odd. I met Mr Monkey when I was 27 and he was 36.

I'm 45 and one of my favourite people at work (we often lunch together and go for drinks) is 29.

As long as there is no exploitation friendships across generations are a good thing.

I think because a lot of close friendsbips are formed in education we see friendship groups of the same age as the norm/most desirable but a range of friends is good.

I've got friends who are the same age as my mum (and my boyfriend is older than my mum.) Nothing wrong with age gaps in friendships. (I'm 34 if anyone worries about my boyfriend, he's not taking advantage of me.)
