And the gap. Is massive

What a ridiculous OP!

7eleven · 11/08/2023 19:08

I’m 19 years older than one of my close friends and 10 years younger than another.

rainbowlou · 11/08/2023 19:18

One of my closest friends is about 15 years older than me.
It has never occurred to me that it would be weird or odd.

WanderlyWagonInWales · 11/08/2023 19:23

I’m 46 and one of my dearest friends turned 70 a few months ago. We have been friends for 27 years.

MaudGone · 11/08/2023 19:25

There's been quite a few threads recently about age-gap crushes and similar. I suspect it's the same troll under different names

FoodFann · 11/08/2023 19:27

Are you 12?

bridgetreilly · 11/08/2023 19:28

My parents met when she was 21 and he was 31. No one thought this in the least bit odd. For friends, even less so.

radiantorange · 11/08/2023 19:28

When I was 22 my 23 year old boyfriend dumped me for a girl who had just turned 16 and left school, I felt that was odd! That was the same age gap. I was more hurt he dumped me at standing stones at sunset tbh.

i have a friend whose husband is 15 years older than her and a friend whose husband is 30 years older than her and that doesn’t bother me or anyone else in our friend circle one bit

Alainlechat · 11/08/2023 22:47

It's not. Just coming home from a night out with an old colleague who is now retired at 66, me 53. Been friends since I started work at the same company age 18.

Just wondering, what would anyone get out of trolling with this particular subject? It seems rather niche at best? I don't get it 😑

HeFellOffaDivingBoardinGuernsey · 11/08/2023 23:06

I have friends from work that are the same age/older than my own parents. My husband is nearly 9 years older than me.

two people in their 20s being friends is not weird

this thread is 😂

But… why?

Maireas · 11/08/2023 23:09

School holidays, bored.

ToWhitToWhoo · 11/08/2023 23:12

Not a massive gap at all! The idea that friendships should only be between people of exactly the same age is no better than the idea that friendships should only be between people of the same colour, ethnicity or religion.

Holidaystress11 · 11/08/2023 23:22

I'm 31. Most of my friends are in their 40s because they are all school mums who happen to be that age.... why would that be strange?

Kaz40s · 11/08/2023 23:48

Nope, just you 🤣

vodkaredbullgirl · 11/08/2023 23:53

🙄

You are very unreasonable. I went out with someone when I was 20 and he was 27. Dear reader we were married the following year, 2 children and 3 grandchildren later we are still very much married and in love

❤️

continentallentil · 12/08/2023 00:11

No it’s not and no it isn’t

Succinct goodness!

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 12/08/2023 02:13

Hahahaha you’re being so unreasonable that I feel this thread can’t be genuine

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/08/2023 05:26

Oh I'll chuck out all my friendships with an age gap of that or more then... that leaves me with um, my sister and my partner.

As PP said, it matters far more the individuals levels of maturity and life experience as to whether the friendship/relationship is healthy and determining its viability based on age gap alone is... astonishingly naive and ridiculous!

TimeToMoveIt · 12/08/2023 05:56

Well back in the day many of us had been working for a few years by 20 and had friendships with colleges of all different ages

Dontcallmescarface · 12/08/2023 06:05

Not as odd as starting a thread with no context and then not returning to it...people who do that are weird.

drinkuptheezider · 12/08/2023 06:28

I would consider 'finding it weird ' immature and consider the person not worth bothering with.

My immediate friends are 12 years older, 6 years older x2, 25 years younger, 28 years younger . Only 1 is the same age as me.
