Yeah I'm not convinced it's drugs.

I'm being more swayed to the idea these are just people who think life will be handed to them when their whims don't go to plan.

Testina · 13/08/2023 12:59

@itsgettingweird “Between March and the 23rd April when baby Louisa was born there is no account of their whereabouts”

Where are you getting that information from?

All I’ve seen is the same newspaper article copy and pasted across 100s of news sites followed by clickbait sites cashing in.

So surely you don’t mean “there is no account of their whereabouts” but simply “the article doesn’t mention where they stayed.”

Every chance they were in a cheap hotel near the beach in Martinique, until they changed their mind about the beach and decided to set sail. You make it sound very intriguing to say “no account” - like you’re a St Lucian detective who has asked them to show the booking email and they have nothing.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:07

Bit of savings, bit of credit card - and a trip to Martinique (he said flights out around £609 each) isn’t completely out of their reach.

Well they don't seem to have actually made any money.....

But the British consulate should be offering them more help and getting that DNA test asap.

"You need a DNA test. This is where you can get it done."

What else is the consulate supposed to do? It's not the consul's job to make the appointment and escort them there.

One of the quotes in the papers was (paraphrased) "The consulate are asking for updates but I can't give them any and now we're stuck". It sounds like some poor individual has the job of ringing Clive every day saying "Clive, are the DNA results back yet?" and Clive just keeps saying "DNA results? Erm....let me think....I'm not sure. I'll just....oh look, is that a dolphin....{click of phone being hung up}". Its not like they aren't being given advice on how to get out of this predicament, they're just being evasive.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:08

It would be the worst drugs deal ever.

I live 20 mins away from him and know quite a few people in sports coaching... they do 'OK' as in just about make the national average wage. But it's not big money.

@EldenRing4

Is it in your local press?

Strangely not - but it's in several others such as Lancs Live.
Looks like one of those syndicated stories

Rock, Paper, Scissors everyday at StLucia High Commission.

Apparently they owe £6k on their cards.

They must of had tens of thousands in the first place.

I also wonder if the boat owners have seen this and now want their boat back knowing they won't get paid for any more hire because they can't afford it!

If Clive can't get a chainsaw back to a next door neighbour he's hardly going to be returning a boat to a different country.

Testina · 13/08/2023 13:22

@FarmGirl78 “sounds like some poor individual has the job of ringing Clive every day saying "Clive, are the DNA results back yet?"

🤣

He wants it all way, does Clive. They’ve been abandoned and no-one will help them. Yet… he’s getting a daily check in from the Foreign Office. (I think article said Foreign Office for that one)

Sounds to me like the authorities want him on a short leash.

You can get a DNA result back from a lab in Grenada in 3-5 working days.

I guess the daily phone call is just asking the same question we all are… is you attached in “last month”, Clive - why isn’t it back yet?
Vote:

  1. he never did it, he knows it’s not their child
  2. he put his Tameside address on the form without thinking cos he’s a doofus
  3. it is his child but he dodged the test because he’s a Freeman of the Land and his word is enough
  4. he did the test, the result is back, and poor Clive has just found out that hard way that Iuliia is into free love as well as free birth
I have no words - woman now stranded after wanting to give birth in St Lucia (on the beach...)
sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:24

Really wish at this moment WE were manning / womaning that St Lucia High Commission.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:25

😂👌

And Great work Agent Testina.

The contradictions are just growing! 🤣🤣

Get @Saschka onto it. She'll have the phone line hacked within 20 mins.

Testina · 13/08/2023 13:30

That’s just another rehashed article from the same source with sloppy journalism @Robyn847 - what contradiction do you mean?

LadyHester · 13/08/2023 13:36

Are there any journalists around? I’m intrigued by the reporting here. Very clearly every published news story is relying on the same source - but who is it? Do Iiulia and Clive have a mate with a hotline to Reuters? Did they go to the local press, whose report has been picked up worldwide? Were they chatting to someone in the pub who turned out to be a Sun reporter on holiday? If they are pushing the story themselves, why are their social media channels so quiet?
(And have they really really spent all the time between April and now pissing about on a boat and failing to fill in forms?)

Robyn847 · 13/08/2023 13:40

What contradiction? The "Son born on beach" bit. As opposed to "Daughter born on boat". You know, that bit. I mean, call me fussy, but thats a pretty big one.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:41

Wouldn't you call that sloppy syndication?

sometimesdadshouldbetheword · 13/08/2023 13:45

This article made me say “what” so many times Macklemore turned up on a scooter to take me thrift shopping. What a pair of absolute plant pots.

No. O think you've decided to read it that way.

No account simply was it was accounted for in the reporting.

The articles say they flew to Martinique and hired a boat to give birth on the beach in St Lucia.

I'm simply saying I don't buy not having rime to get to the beach even if the baby was early because they had 3 weeks minimum and there's no written account of what they did during that time.

So it's still a mystery. May not be an exciting part of the jigsaw but I doubt they turned up and just decided to hire a boast on whim.

itsgettingweird · 13/08/2023 13:52

If Clive can't get a chainsaw back to a next door neighbour he's hardly going to be returning a boat to a different country.

I think that was made up humour rather than a true tale 🤣

LadyHester · 13/08/2023 13:56

Though utterly plausible.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:57

Perhaps... Between March and 23rd April..... they did a sailing course.

Ridiculous?

A couple of my mates had to a written exam and a course before they were allowed to help crew on a boat.

And there they are bobbing about on the high seas. Giving birth....Sailing around.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 13:58

It's the boat that throws me every time .

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 14:01

Fly out out to a lovely beach. Stay put. Cue dolphins. Do your thing in the waves, water birthing.

Why bring A Boat into the equation?

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2023 14:02

Never mind the cost.

Someone else owns that boat.
