There’s something weird about this story, I’m not buying it; was there some kind of secret surrogacy arrangement or something?

LakieLady · 11/08/2023 14:19

Justcallmebebes · 11/08/2023 13:56

I've just seen this too. Morons

We live on an island. Couldn't they have found a beach on our extensive coastline?

Probably didn't want to risk giving birth surrounded by untreated sewage.

mogtheexcellent · 11/08/2023 13:52

Im failing to find sympathy with the parents. what a couple of idiots.

plus we have 100s of miles of beaches here in UK. The poor 8 year old.

Cam you imagine giving birth on stony old Brighton beach in the pouring rain 😂

SunRainStorm · 11/08/2023 14:19

It actually seems quite suspect. I think there must be more to it.

Does she think she's a turtle? Stupid, selfish people.

😂

But yes, a pair of idiots.

RitzyMcFitzy · 11/08/2023 14:04

I notice their ages 38 and 51. I wonder if the 8 year old is her daughter and this is Clive's second marriage.

I wonder if he has an ex-wife back in Stevenage or wherever, having a good old wheezy laugh on the group chat today about Clive's predicament.

@RitzyMcFitzy

That made me snort, loud and long. 😂

Exactly. Running out of money to bribe people to go along with the lie and forge paperwork, more like.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/08/2023 14:20

What's wrong with Skegness..... seriously though, what utter twats.

GenieGenealogy · 11/08/2023 14:20

I love all the ranting and wailing about being abandoned and not having money and running out of food and woe is me from the pair of numpties, then the last line of:

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We have offered consular support to a British family in St Lucia.”

They are clearly sick to the back teeth of this feckless pair. Poor wee Elizabeth.

Thanks, this made me lol 😂😂

OrigamiOwls · 11/08/2023 14:21

It's the 8 year old they've randomly left behind that I feel sorry for here.

I'm also expecting a Gofundme appeal shortly.

feellikeanalien · 11/08/2023 14:21

i really am struggling to understand how two adults would in any way think this was a good idea. Those poor children. What are their lives going to be like with parents like that?

Moonlightsonatas · 11/08/2023 14:21

Clive looks like he’d go along with any of his younger wife’s plans to keep her happy.

Sceptre86 · 11/08/2023 14:22

I read the story and had limited sympathy for the two adults. It's a prime example of just because you can have children doesn't mean you should. To leave their older child for that time is actually quite sad. It's a level of entitlement I just don't understand.

MeridianB · 11/08/2023 14:24

Poor 8yo DD gets dumped for weeks as they welcome a sibling in the most ill-judged way imaginable. Hoping the authorities get involved to asap with these two clowns.

TregunaMekoides · 11/08/2023 14:24

Wow. Just. Wow. "Her dream of giving birth on a beach". I despair with that kind of thing. I could almost excuse the crazy pregnancy hormones but the husband is a moron for enabling it

Out of interest, what bollocks about the older kid's passport. If you can fork out for a holiday in St Lucia, you can fork out for a fast track passport and attend the appointment.

Trixiefirecracker · 11/08/2023 14:25

I haven’t read it all but are they imfluencers? Selling their lifestyles? Bonkers.

Topseyt123 · 11/08/2023 14:27

What a pair of complete and utter twats! 🙄😠

The mother is Russian judging by her name. Immigration status?

I suppose she can always ask Russian consulate for help, right? 😬

Backstreets · 11/08/2023 14:27

At their big ages...

Thisismyartform · 11/08/2023 14:28

They should have done their research. And I am not a fan of the whole ‘birth experience’ movement. But the British consulate should be offering them more help and getting that DNA test asap. We British do seem to be utterly crap at getting help our citizen’s overseas. People who’ve made poor decisions do need help too.

BMW6 · 11/08/2023 14:29

Absolutely batshit! Apart from it all being bloody stupid why didn't they buy return tickets????

And why go all that way for a beach????

LaurieFairyCake · 11/08/2023 14:29

Hopefully both children will come under the auspices of social services

MeadAndPie · 11/08/2023 14:30

Initially, they were told by a hospital they couldn't register her birth because she was more than 24 hours old.

It sounds like if they'd presented earlier at the hospital it would have been fine (excluding huge risks doing a birth with no medical care with them or nearby)

It does make you wonder why they didn't do basic research before hand.

I can see why a DNA test is needed - as British citizenship is inherited has been for years and as they have no witnesses to birth - they need some formal proof child is entitled to a UK passport. I can see being passed round different departments would be frustrating but given situation entirely predicable.

It does make you wonder wtf they were thinking or why they'd think rules didn't apply to them.

Why should they help them? This situation is if their own making.
