Do you mean Constance Hall?

No unless she's known by another name. I'm talking about the aristocratic one that was avoiding social services with her partner, and the baby girl was very sadly found dead in an allotment shed badly decomposed.
The woman referred to in this thread has definitely never gone to those extremes, but she reminds me of them.

hot2trotter · 11/08/2023 20:02

Read this earlier. Absolute selfish morons. Feel for their poor 8 year old daughter.

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 11/08/2023 20:03

Looking at some very deserted beaches on Mustique, I think they must have thought they were going there. Landed in Martinique and realised the beaches are a bit busy to give birth on, hence the boat.

tsmainsqueeze · 11/08/2023 20:04

She's traumatised - zilch sympathy from me.

Testina · 11/08/2023 20:05

@DepartureLounge c’mon, spill the surnames 🤣

Testina · 11/08/2023 20:06

@JustAnotherCheeseburger that would add a whole new level of incompetent hilarity if they really did mix up Mustique and Martinique! 😭

LouHey · 11/08/2023 20:07

They've been stupid and publicly shamed for it. Obviously they deserve to be home now, it's not the kids fault they have daft parents. I hope they get back to their 8 year old and the baby is OK. They clearly didn't think it through but nothing can be gained from keeping them away longer.

Testina · 11/08/2023 20:08

Did anyone watch ITV docudrama about Canoe Man, the life insurance con artist and his wife? I feel like this pair would fit in well with his outstanding incompetence - taking out a library card in his own name whilst “dead”…

SauvignonBlanche · 11/08/2023 20:09

I so want to know more but I know enough to know that they’re eejits.

Testina · 11/08/2023 20:11

@LouHey “but nothing can be gained from keeping them away longer.”

Well, not nothing: a DNA test result could be gained for starters. Quite important in a case like this. Done last month, but even papers refer to that as, “said Clive”. So sure - as soon as the DNA test is back I think the authorities should act as quickly as they can. But it’s not the authorities who moved countries during the application 🤷🏻‍♀️

They aren’t being kept away though. They could leave today on a flight and be home.
It’s just the baby hasn’t got paperwork and can’t come. They might not fancy that but they aren’t prisoners like they are saying.
One parent could stay with baby and one return to 8 yr old in Uk.
If you were struggling with bureaucracy then again one in uk would make sense to chase and involve mp etc - my British wife and baby are stuck in Grenada.
Plus as money an issue one could work and send money to one left with baby.

Justcallmebebes · 11/08/2023 13:56

I've just seen this too. Morons

We live on an island. Couldn't they have found a beach on our extensive coastline?

There are miles of beautiful beaches in Scotland, not crowded, edging spectacular landscapes, and yet none is far from towns and medical aid if needed. They could have come up here to be remote but risk free
For the sake of the little daughter left behind, I hope they get sorted but they deserve worse for being really stupid.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 11/08/2023 20:31

Someone earlier said that if they went into labour on a boat they wouldn’t try to get to the nearest port but drop anchor - I suspect the sea depth would be far to great to do that!

What you should do is send out a Pan Pan message, including your location, informing them on the situation and possible medical needs.

But then, getting on a small yacht when 38 (?) weeks pregnant isn’t the most sensible thing to do anyway.

I suspect they couldn’t get the ferry as the port officials would, quite rightly, have not allowed them onboard/ entry into St Lucia .

Apart from temperature differences, many are a ferry ride, a flight or several hours drive from hospitals. Eg Women with obstetric emergencies on Orkney and Shetland are flow to Aberdeen by helicopter.

Their journey actually makes more sense if they did! Flew to Martinique, realised it wasn't where they thought it was. Boat south towards Mustique which is in St Vincent and the Grenadines, between St Lucia and Grenada!

SunRainStorm · 11/08/2023 20:37

Incredible that neither one has returned to look after the eight year old.

Bizarre they are still living on a rented yacht while crying poor.

They are both absolutely full of shit. Their story doesn't add up.

Is she breastfeeding? Or did they happen to bring three days worth of formula onto the boat they had no intention of giving birth on? How did they weigh the baby when it was born? Why wasn't 9 months enough time to obtain a passport for the older child? How was she able to fly heavily pregnant, don't airlines prevent it? Was her pregnancy observed and monitored in the UK prior to her departure?

So many holes in the story.

I hope that poor baby hasn't been trafficked.

SUPsUP · 11/08/2023 20:39

Wow, this is the most bonkers story ever.
I’ve done a bit of sailing around those islands and can confirm that heading south to Grenada to get out if the hurricane belt makes sense (it’s a very specific north south band) but literally nothing else does).
when you move between islands you have to check in and out so how is it only now a problem?
how can they not afford flights or food but appear to have chartered a bloody big boat
for months (NOT cheap!).
who the hell chartered a yacht to someone 7 months pregnant without asking any questions?
all so very very weird

FurbleSocks · 11/08/2023 20:43

As the parent of an 8 year old the idea of being away from her for 4 months terrifies me. How selfish are her parents?

Carpediemmakeitcount · 11/08/2023 20:43

Bonkers pair to do that. Now they have to prove they haven't stolen the baby 😂

Missey85 · 11/08/2023 20:49

Bloody morons!

MCOut · 11/08/2023 20:57

First class fools. I didn’t think this level of idiocy existed. All of this is stupid. I’m surprised the airlines allow travel this late without some sort of compelling reason. I agree SS should get involved. So many poor decisions here, not least of which is waiting for three days to get to a hospital.

My heart is breaking for her 8 yo.

InvincibleInvisibility · 11/08/2023 21:05

I know Martinique well. The weather is very similar to St Lucia. The weather last March was totally normal for the season (average temperatures and rain forecasts available all over the internet).

I gave birth in France (where I lived). You only have 3 days to register the birth in France. There are loads of documents to provide to get an overseas British passport done - I did my research and got as many as possible ahead of time (needed to travel when baby was less than 3 months old).

Basically all this information is readily available as are photos of the beaches in Martinique. Very odd they didn't research properly...

Muststopeating · 11/08/2023 21:06

Can I just point out that "last month" (when the DNA test was done) was only 11/12 days ago.

Also, does the DNA test have to go back to UK lab if required for British passport? That can't be quick if so.

These two are complete and utter twats of the highest order!
