Big bars of chocolate

I remember when I was a child, big bars of chocolate were a birthday or Christmas treat. Now they're so easy and cheap to come by, I can easily eat one in one go. Anyone else, or am I a disgusting pig?! (Just had dairy milk with Dime.....would recommend!)

You are not alone. But then I'd also eat a whole pizza to myself and can polish off a tub of Ben and jerrys in one go.

i cant do much chocolate, 3 or 4 squares max

BUT!! totally can eat a family size pack of crisps / large pizza

I have thought exactly this op, it annoys me though. It is difficult to find smaller bars now, they're always in a different place to the millions of 'sharing' pouches. When you do they're always so expensive and only pence less than a pouch/bar. They always put the larger bars on deal too, never the smaller ones. There are only a select few multi packets of the smaller bars as well, and they're smaller than the individual ones. I felt nostalgic in B&M when I discovered a 4 pack of mini packets of jelly tots. My children loved them and though the "baby packets" were so cute.
When I was a child their was only a small amount of pouches such as Galaxy caramel swirls (I'm showing my age.) They were about £4.50 or similar at the time!! You can never find mini packets of m&ms etc unless in huge multi packs filled up with certain sweets you're not wanting. What happened to those mini boxes of smarties too?!! They were the perfect amount.
I was allowed to choose one small chocolate bar. They ban and put warnings on so many things, but apparently sugar is fine!

Mauhea · 10/08/2023 12:33

Ugh, yes. I just can't buy it unless I'm in the mood to entirely fall off the wagon of basic decency. I won't savour it at all, I'll just sit and inhale the whole thing. One day I aspire to be the sort of person who can nibble a square over the course of several months and be satisfied, but it ain't today!

there*

You’ll get loads of people on here saying they only sniff the wrapper every six months and that does them as they fill up on 3 tomato slices. However, you are correct, I can easily do one in a single sitting.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

mangomama91 · 10/08/2023 11:38

Did you spell "bar" wrong?

No, I think they missed out the word "never"....

PrrrplePineapple · 10/08/2023 12:35

Marwoodsbigbreak · 10/08/2023 11:57

Just the one sharing bar you say?

Thank goodness you said it first 😂

Imsureitsprobablymebut · 10/08/2023 12:36

Too much for me but give me a grab bag of Monster Munch and they’ll be demolished in 2 mins

twilightermummy · 10/08/2023 12:37

Regularly demolish a bar of Tony's salted caramel. I wish I'd never tried it in the first place because it's addictive and amazing 😬

HollieHobbie · 10/08/2023 12:37

If I open a bar of chocolate I do finish it. So I don't buy it because I have no restraint no matter what size bar it is. My husband is the same with dry roasted peanuts so we don't buy those either! Our waistlines have thanked us for it but by god it's hard walking by the shelves in the supermarket!

JauntyJinty · 10/08/2023 11:45

Oh I couldn't possibly mange an entire square - I use a cheese grater so I can split one over a fortnight

a fortnight?!?!?! gosh, that's a bit excessive. I make a square of chocolate last a month by giving it a lick every other day.

BlastedIce · 10/08/2023 12:39

KarmaStar · 10/08/2023 12:07

Chocolate has to be kept in the freezer else doesn't take very nice😀😀

So wrong …

Thank you, it always amazes me that people take such an obviously ridiculous statement seriously.

Only on MN will you find people do seriously make comments such as these. Utterly seriously. If you have spare time, search for 'performance eaters' for threads that show these kind of mind boggling comments. They're brilliant! 😂

Surely you mean that the square cheese-grated will last a family of four over a fortnight, otherwise you're being very greedy!

JoRobyn · 10/08/2023 12:43

Thanks all, good to know I aren't alone. To be fair I have had a rough few weeks and have been fully eating my feelings, so am up to the brim with rubbish sugar and beige and the more you eat the more you want (thanks UPF!). Need to attempt some green soon, body and brain will thank me! (Agree, don't see it as 'nice' chocolate, wouldn't wolf some Tony's down as fast and thoughtlessly!)

MrsJBaptiste · 10/08/2023 12:44

God no, really not fussed about chocolate but... give me a cup of tea and a packet of malted milk biscuits and I have no willpower 😬

JoRobyn · 10/08/2023 12:45

Would still finish the Tony's in a day (hour or two 🤣) mind you, and agree on grab bag crisps too! Maybe even more tempting......ahhh, what it must be to have self control!

OP posts:
GoodChat · 10/08/2023 12:46

Oh, are we not supposed to eat them all at once Confused

M4J4 · 10/08/2023 12:52

I'm low-carbing but I have a week off planned in a few weeks and have plans to demolish a big bar of Whole Nut someone gave me. It's safely hidden away until then.

Anyone else, or am I a disgusting pig?!

I know it's lighthearted but it makes me wince when people talk about themselves like this, because you're basically saying other people who eat this are also disgusting pigs.

Florissante · 10/08/2023 12:54

JauntyJinty · 10/08/2023 11:45

I'll bet you also eat whole lettuce leaves, too, rather than just a shred of one.

Illbebythesea · 10/08/2023 12:55

No I couldn’t, I find chocolate quite sickly. I like it but in small quantities. However… I could easily eat a whole take away pizza to myself. & crisps… they’re just like air aren’t they?! I’m not sure what the limit would be or if there would be one!

weirdoboelady · 10/08/2023 12:56

TW chocolate

My real addiction is those tiny Daim bars that come in bags. Have just discovered that Poundland has started doing them again - 200g for £2. I can eat a whole bag.... in fact I can't stop, and buy up to 5 bags at a time. (OK, even I couldn't eat 5 bags in a day).

Cas112 · 10/08/2023 12:58

GalileoHumpkins · 10/08/2023 11:26

One square a day is enough!

There is always one 🙄😂

Sallyh87 · 10/08/2023 12:59

No I couldn’t eat a whole big bar of chocolate (a line is enough for me) but could easily eat a whole family bag of crisps!

Itsnotrightbutitsok · 10/08/2023 13:00

I don’t buy them unless it’s a birthday or something, as I know I’d just eat the entire thing and then feel terrible.

When I need a binge I will find lower calorie alternatives.
Some if those bars are a crazy amount of calories whereas a big bar of areo aren’t as bad.
I think maltesers are also lower in calories than a diary milk bar.
