Big bars of chocolate

JoRobyn · 10/08/2023 11:08

I remember when I was a child, big bars of chocolate were a birthday or Christmas treat. Now they're so easy and cheap to come by, I can easily eat one in one go. Anyone else, or am I a disgusting pig?! (Just had dairy milk with Dime.....would recommend!)

One square a day is enough!

Really?

Does anyone else sweat when they eat too much chocolate?

I get dehydrated. It's pretty salty so sweating may be related.

YouAreBeingUnbearable · 10/08/2023 12:00

I could 100% eat a sharing bar of dairy milk. I try and restrain myself but mostly I just don’t buy them so I don’t have the opportunity!

Zebedee999 · 10/08/2023 12:02

I easily eat a whole "big" bar of chocolate in one sitting. Same with the big "party" bags of crisps... never bother with the small 25g bags!

I think @GalileoHumpkins may be joking.

Thank you, it always amazes me that people take such an obviously ridiculous statement seriously.

MindIfISlytherin · 10/08/2023 12:05

I could probably eat a whole bar over the course of an evening but then I would feel a bit sick and gross afterwards.

I find it better for my willpower to break off a row or two (roughly the size of an individual bar) and put the rest back in the fridge. Fridge chocolate takes longer to chew through than room temp chocolate!

KarmaStar · 10/08/2023 12:07

Chocolate has to be kept in the freezer else doesn't take very nice😀😀

My husband keeps it in the freezer but he's a lunatic

I don't like cadburys but I could (and sometimes do) polish off a big bar of milka or galaxy no issues! Or Green and Black if I'm feeling fancy but tbh their big bars aren't that big anyway.

To be fair @GalileoHumpkins it would not be a surprise to find a group on mnetters who seriously think and act like that.

BlueBlueBerries · 10/08/2023 12:12

I only smell a chocolate bar twice a year, any more than that shows no self control! It's always good quality artisanal chocolate as well, no palm oil here Grin

FinallyHere · 10/08/2023 12:12

Depends on how much sugar I am eating. When I eat a lot, especially whole, even if the very large, bars are fair game

When I completely avoid sugar and beige starches generally, there are a few days that I can only describe as withdrawal when all I can think of is eating sugar, then I go back to normal, having lost any craving for sugar and genuinely enjoy a square of bitter dark chocolate.

Choices. It's all about choices and how I will feel after I've eaten <whatever>

Annalisatheantelope · 10/08/2023 12:14

They aren't that big. I easily get through one in one go.

Sent too soon. Get out of here😁 one square a day indeed.

IHeartGeneHunt · 10/08/2023 12:16

Once a fortnight I have a big bar of the nice Lidl chocolate in one go. Any more often than that and I end up eating it every day, it's a slippery slope.

transformandriseup · 10/08/2023 12:18

Are you talking about a novelty sized one like Woolworths used to do at Christmas along with the foot long Jaffa cakes or just a standard sharing bar?

People like you who eat more than a single microgram of dark chocolate every ten years is why we have so much obesity in this country.

There is a woman on TikTok Sammie Head who goes on about how annoying her DH and children are and the amount of people who don't get it is hilarious.

murasaki · 10/08/2023 12:27

Actually one square of very dark chocolate is fine for me.

But a whole pizza in one sitting, oh yes, easily done. I just don't have a sweet tooth. You can still be a greedy knacker who loves cheese !

MogTheMoogle · 10/08/2023 12:27

I think....I might be wrong but the smaller 100g bars didn't exist (or were less common) and you used to only have the 200g (or 250g maybe) to buy.

The lack of a "medium" size one and the price difference I think made them seem more like a treat than a snack.

When a 40g bar of Dairy milk is at least 70/80p (not that I've looked recently), and the 100g bar is on offer for £1 then well...Similarly when you can buy one for 70p but a multipack is £1.50.

But when it was 40/50p maybe for a "normal" bar, and £2/3 for the next size up, of course it felt more like a treat.
