Judging someone for taking their dog for a walk in their pyjamas...

Would you judge this?

I wouldn’t wear nightwear out in public. I can’t bear loafing about in pyjamas once I’m awake. I need to be up, showered, dressed, hair and make up done (not that I wear huge amounts).

But beyond a passing thought about you being in your pyjamas and that being a bit unappealing for me, I don’t think I’d give you much thought.

ReginaRegina · 09/08/2023 21:37

I'd respect their right to do it but I'd honestly wonder why they didn't just pull on some tracky bottoms.

LaLaLouella · 09/08/2023 21:51

Why can't you just wear some comfortable clothing that you don't sleep in - it does exist!

So, do you not do anything? Leave your house other than with the dog? Meet friends? Go exercising? It just seems so lazy and a bit depressing to loll about in pjs all day prioritising comfort over all else....

Chevrotains · 09/08/2023 21:59

If I'm going out, I put on proper clothes... I wouldn't even pop to the shops in my pyjamas (don't care if anyone here does btw) so yes, I do plenty of things, including go to work Grin but, as I say, it's specifically in this case of taking him out to the toilet every hour or 2. If I know I'm not doing anything for the rest of the day, apart from that, then yeah, I stay in my pyjamas after getting back changed into them after work.

So your judged and?

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 09/08/2023 22:04

This is why my pyjamas have always been yoga pants and a T-shirt 😁

MysteryBelle · 09/08/2023 22:29

Getting some loungewear without patterns is a good idea, Op. We all want to be comfortable! I think it’s just that seeing someone in their pjs all the time gives the feeling that she is having problems of some kind (not that you are). You’ll be fine! Most of us look for clothing that looks professional but is as comfortable as pjs 😂

PixieLaLa · 09/08/2023 22:45

No I would not judge at all, even if the dog was wearing pjs too! I really don’t get why anyone would be bothered by something like this that doesn’t effect their life in the slightest….Confused

Would you judge this?

Would I judge a dog in pyjamas? No, unless they were ugly pyjamas, then of course I would!

TakenRoot · 09/08/2023 23:05

One of my judginesses would be about pyjamas getting all doggy, muddy and outdoorsy and then back in bed, but you have that covered OP.

I do judge if I see people out and about in the day in their pyjamas and dressing gowns, but I simultaneously judge myself for judging.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/08/2023 23:13

I don’t care at all what people wear - especially for something like walking their dog. I think there’s too much judging going on about things like this.

SD1978 · 09/08/2023 23:30

Probably. Not audibly, but it's seems lazy AF not to just chuck on a pair of joggers. Same as I do if someone wears them in the shops- it's like a badge if lazy honour. I wouldn't say anything, wouldn't making looking obvious, but there's no need. And I say this as the person who literally has a pair of joggers on standby to whip on for the school run.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/08/2023 23:43

Just get some plain pjs, OP. I sleep in little shorts and a vest which I change into before I get into bed, but have a few pairs of “house” trousers from M&S “love to lounge” range which I assume are pyjama pants which I wear to knock about the house in, but wouldn’t look out of place in the wild. I wear them with tees/sweatshirts, so provided no-one cared I had no bra I’d be golden.

What dog do you have that needs to go to that toilet every hour or two?

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 10/08/2023 00:00

No, I only judge the ones who don't pick up the poo.

HRTQueen · 10/08/2023 00:07

If I passed someone i doubt would notice

if pointed out and asked what I thought I probably would think they are a bit slobby

it was quite fashionable about who years ago to go out in pj’s and dressing gown to the shops that just lazy if you can walk around the shop you can get dressed

HRTQueen · 10/08/2023 00:08

*ten years

Chevrotains · 10/08/2023 00:11

@backtogrey a puppy

Anxioys · 10/08/2023 00:16

Yes. Obviously wouldn't say anything but walking in the street in your pajamas simply embarrasses everyone, including the dog who is potentially better aware of society than the owner.

AuntMarch · 10/08/2023 00:17

I live in a flat and throw some joggers on just to take the rubbish out, so I might judge internally but not enough to say anything

User3735 · 10/08/2023 00:18

I wouldn't do it, and I don't let my teenagers do it, despite them moaning at me. I see it so often I don't know if I'd notice much with others. I don't understand why you wouldn't just buy pyjamas that don't look like pyjamas? I personally buy joggers/lightweight jersey trousers/plain tshirts and vests etc rather than Disney/floral/tartan pjs because they are multi use.

Lannielou · 10/08/2023 00:19

I used to drop my daughter off at work for 07.00. I would be walking my dogs on the beach in my pj's by 07.30. No fucks given by anyone else

almostoverthehill · 10/08/2023 00:35

I’m judging you more for having a dog in a flat

Chevrotains · 10/08/2023 03:54

@almostoverthehill why on earth does that matter? Grin he was a rescue and has a great life with me being taken to amazing places. Plenty have a garden and use it as an excuse to never take their dog out. You're right though, maybe all dogs living in flats should go to rescues.

It depends what you mean by ‘judge’? It wouldn’t bother me, affect my life or occupy my thoughts. I don’t care what other people do. But at the second I saw someone outside their house in obvious pyjamas I’d think, “grim” and it looks scummy to me but I wouldn’t be thinking about it 2 seconds later. So why care what anyone thinks? I’m sure I look like shit or do stuff other people would judge me for but who cares? Life is too short for angst over any of this.
