Would you judge this?

I do this on holiday when our elderly dog wakes me wanting a wee - at home I would just let her out in the garden. Pop a hoodie or cagoule on too depenfingnon the weather.

@NowItsSpring

but that's not walking them, that's just out the door for a quick (hopefully) wee.

madeinmanc · 09/08/2023 15:50

As a one-off I wouldn't give it a second thought but if I saw someone regularly doing that I'd think they were in some kind of distressed state or needed help.

SomewhereWithSomeone · 09/08/2023 15:51

I don’t care what other people wear.

I do think it's a bit gross to wear pyjamas outside if you're intending to go to bed in them later.

And if you change into your pyjamas when you get home, then change into clean pyjamas to get into bed, you might as well change into casual wear when you get home instead, as it's the same amount of changing.

But surely it's no different to drying them on the washing line outside?

unclestripe · 09/08/2023 15:54

I've walked the dog with my dressing gown under my puffer coat in the winter but you couldn't see it, I wouldn't dream of going out in full pjs though so yes I'd judge.
I'm more judge about mums doing the school run in their pjs though (we have a few, one in full pjs, dressing gown and fluffy slippers) like it takes seconds to stick on a pair of leggings, shoes and a coat.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 09/08/2023 15:54

PJs are nothing more than clothes someone has decided are to be worn in bed. cheap ones may be thinner, or the might have bolder patterns on, but they are the same thing really.

TBF, you'd than have loads of people complaining that their leggings were too see though, their top wasn't long enough etc.

WanderingWitches · 09/08/2023 15:56

I wouldn't care at all. Probably wouldn't even notice.

likey · 09/08/2023 15:57

I wouldn't judge because I don't know their circumstances.

I'd probably assume they were ill or something.

IncompleteSenten · 09/08/2023 15:57

I don't give a flying fuck what strangers choose to wear.
Well, unless they're in Tesco in a bare arsed gimp suit with ballgag. I'd judge the crap out of that.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 09/08/2023 15:57

Question for the nay sayers. Would a pair of scruffy, slightly see through, black leggings be better than full coverage, dinosaur print PJ bottoms?

No, you're walking around in them - sweating in them, brushing up against things, going out on the road - it's nothing like them being hung out to dry.

amlie8 · 09/08/2023 16:01

I wouldn't think about it for more than 15 seconds but honestly yes, I would judge them. It reminds me of being brought up by a selfish, slobbish, dirty parent. What else can't you be arsed with, if you can't even be bothered to take a minute to put proper clothes on?

Chevrotains · 09/08/2023 16:03

I personally wear the ones from the night before and then put clean on after my bath/shower for bed. It is the same changing, yes, I'm not doing it to be lazy. I just personally prefer wearing pyjamas for comfort.

SM4713 · 09/08/2023 16:07

Yes, I would certainly notice and judge- but more as a concern. I'd think are they lazy, sick, having a mental health crisis etc?

In my own case, there is no way I could go wandering around the streets/park braless in a flimsy PJ top!

Jamtartforme · 09/08/2023 16:07

Yes I would, it shows a lack of respect for those around you. I don’t want to go out and see people dressed in their pyjamas, it feels depressing and like they’ve given up.

TheKeatingFive · 09/08/2023 16:09

My field of fucks is barren here.

mum1527 · 09/08/2023 16:09

Honestly, it's not my business so I wouldn't mind

CoffeeCantata · 09/08/2023 16:10

Yes. I'd think it was slovenly.

I don't want to see your lingerie!

MysteryBelle · 09/08/2023 16:13

When I posted previously, I assumed you meant occasionally walking dog in pjs. But you say you wear pjs all the time, for comfort. There are daytime clothes that are just as comfortable and more appropriate. I still wouldn’t judge you or think about it really but I would briefly wonder if you’re having problems of some kind to want to wear pjs day and night.

Awittyfool · 09/08/2023 16:15

I don’t understand why people who purposely wear something even worry about “judgement”. Its a choice. If it bothers you that people think you’re too lazy to change or are inappropriate wear something else surely.

MysteryBelle · 09/08/2023 16:15

Op, do you identify as a perpetual ‘person ready for bedtime’?

ActDottie · 09/08/2023 16:22

It’s not what I’d do but I don’t really care what other dog walkers wear. In general though I wouldn’t wear pyjamas outside of the house.

Ilovedthe70s · 09/08/2023 16:29

I used to see a woman in a skimpy nightdress and fluffy mules by my allotment walking her rottie. I didn’t care about her nightwear but I did judge the fluffy mules every time the dog she had no control over dragged her off her feet.

Mble · 09/08/2023 16:32

Dog walkers tend to take their dog to the same spot for a wee or a shit. The area then attracts other dogs to wee there and the area becomes pretty disgusting. Depending on where you take the dog, that may be the reason for her judgemental look.
