Would you judge this?

'I just personally prefer wearing pyjamas for comfort'

No one is suggesting you need to wear a skirt, tights and heels but what is wrong with a t-shirt and joggers/leggings, how do they differ comfort wise to PJs?

Thirty5 · 09/08/2023 16:36

There are plenty of comfy (actual) clothes out there though, Uniqlo is great for comfy cargos, Nike outlets sell joggers for less than £20, sometimes even less than £10, I do think it’s just laziness. People can do what they want but call it what it is…

FairyBreadQueen · 09/08/2023 16:37

I confess that yes I would. Where i live pyjamas seem to be quite normal day attire, to the point that out local supermarket as a sign on it saying no night attire or bare feet please in the shop. I think it's grubby. i have a neighbour who walks her dogs in her pyjamas and slippers up and down our unmade and frequently muddy road. Another neighbour drives his kids to school in boxers, a filthy dressing gown, and bare feet. So that's the image I have, not of someone quickly ducking out to give their dog a wee before it bursts.

Mountainpika · 09/08/2023 16:39

I wouldn't want my pyjamas to pick up goodness knows what in the street and then transfer it to my bed.

ManateeFair · 09/08/2023 16:44

I can't begin to imagine giving a damn about what someone else wears to walk their dog. I doubt I'd actually notice!

CurlewKate · 09/08/2023 16:54

"but what is wrong with a t-shirt and joggers/leggings, how do they differ comfort wise to PJs?"

Exactly! So why are pyjamas judgeable but t shirt and leggings not, when they are exactly the same thing?

amlie8 · 09/08/2023 17:01

They're different things. Most people don't sleep in leggings. So much slobbish behaviour is excused with 'but what's the difference'.

If you go out in pyjamas, slippers, a dressing gown etc, many people will judge you as lazy and lacking self-respect, or assume you have personal problems.

Having basic standards for yourself is a good thing.

Busubaba · 09/08/2023 17:02

Yes unless it was very early in the morning.

Alloveragain3 · 09/08/2023 17:10

Yes. I'd actually be quite worried for your mental health.
I can't imagine anyone in my family or friend group doing this TBH

LlynTegid · 09/08/2023 17:12

I would.

If they cannot be bothered to change clothes before going out, I'd wonder if they neglect cleanliness at home, both for the dog and the human occupants of the house.

DaisyAndDonaldDuck · 09/08/2023 17:13

Yes I would judge. It’s really lazy.

M4J4 · 09/08/2023 17:15

These days with pyjamas that look like lounge wear or casual wear, you can get away with wearing it outside without people noticing.

ThePoshUns · 09/08/2023 17:16

I do first thing in the morning to take her for a quick wee out front but that's it.

Hivaluegirl · 09/08/2023 17:23

Nah I have taken doggo out in PJ but mine don't look like bed wear it's just a t-shirt and baggy trousers that look oldish

Hivaluegirl · 09/08/2023 17:24

But if I see others I don't care but going shop/shopping in PJ is weird ..... Don't come for me!

cornflower21 · 09/08/2023 17:27

TeachesOfPeaches · 09/08/2023 14:08

I seen someone walking round the shops with their hair wrapped up in a towel. That was a first

I seen once a lady do a school run with her slippers on and bathrobe.

cornflower21 · 09/08/2023 17:28

And no she wasn't late.

BeansOnToast32 · 09/08/2023 18:10

I walk my dog every morning in black leggings, Chelsea boot Wellies and I rotate the same 2 or 3 oversized T-shirts and will often wear the same shirt 2-3 days in a row. 😂

I always think the dog walkers I see most days must think I'm a right scruff that hardly has any clothes but I only actually wear these clothes for my morning walk and then get changed when I get home.

I can't stand walking my dog in my usual clothes because I've had other peoples off lead dogs jump up at me to sniff my dog's treat pouch and I don't want paw prints on my normal clothes. When I go on a short walk in the evenings I'll wear normal clothes because I don't take treats with me.

ReluctantFishLady · 09/08/2023 19:00

No-one would look twice at someone in a scruffy pair of old leggings (depending on how see through of course!). They would 'pass' in the sense that they are dressed for a dog walk in old clothes that they may get wet or muddy. No-one would bat an eyelid.

If you are walking about in night wear, be it dino print trousers, bathrobe, fluffy slippers, grandad shirt and night cap, you are going to get noticed. You're not dressed like a dog walker, you are dressed like you had to jump out of the window in a house fire or something.

ReluctantFishLady · 09/08/2023 19:02

Sorry meant to quote @SliceOfCakeCupOfTea there.

zurala · 09/08/2023 19:55

Yes I would. I think it's minging that you put dirty pyjamas on after you've slept in them anyway. But I would notice and judge you, because there's no excuse for wearing worn nightclothes in public, it's just slovenly and dirty.

Chevrotains · 09/08/2023 19:57

Interesting you find it minging to put back on pyjamas I've slept in. I bathed/showered the night before and my bed is clean Grin people reuse their regular clothes all the time!

Yes I would. Lazy and chavvy.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/08/2023 20:16

I often walk my neighbour’s dog as she (neighbour) has arthritis and can sometimes find it tough so will message me asking if I can go for a quick walk. If it’s evening I am often in lounge-wear and just stick a jacket on depending on the weather. It tends to be joggers, birks, sweatshirt type thing though and not what I actually sleep in. If I walk the dog in the day we go to a big park and I am in proper clothes.

Chevrotains · 09/08/2023 20:16

What is the meaning of the use chavvy here? Grin

Tbf, think I will just buy some loungewear that replicates pyjamas without the patterns. I wear the usual long leg and T-shirt pyjamas, but they do tend to have patterns, but I like the feel of them more vs say jogging bottoms/leggings, they do feel different to me! So will see what I can find, so I look less "lazy" or "mentally unwell" Blush
