Judging someone for taking their dog for a walk in their pyjamas...

Would you judge this?

I used to get up at 04.45, walk the dogs in my pyjamas, come home, shower, put my uniform on then go into work for a 07.30 start. It was often dark, there was no-one else about but if anyone did see me and judge me then good luck to them. Personally I used to judge my ex-H who refused to take his turn, especially as he didn't start work until 9 and* *home by 5.30 whereas I did less days but didn't get home until 9pm on the days I did work.

Roystonv · 09/08/2023 14:38

Yes I would judge, they are not made for wearing in public and there are plenty of things that are. Lazy too. Standards need to be upheld otherwise we revert back to not caring about anything and that is a slippery slope.

PinkFootstool · 09/08/2023 14:38

I take the dog out in my PJs and dressing gown first thing in the morning every day. She needs a pee, and waiting for me to shower and dress is unfair on her.

I also walk her around the block in my dressing gown over my clothes quite frequently, as I get cold sitting WFH so I wear it as a house coat!

Your neighbour can fuck off.

No difference between my vest tops or PJ bottoms for sleep and any other vest top. I'm too fat for leggings, but plenty of people go out and about in those.

See also flip flops v hard soled slippers.

PJs round a supermarket or at a school gate, yes I agree there's a time and a place. Dragging the dog out for a pee, I couldn't care less.

SamW98 · 09/08/2023 14:41

Late at night or early on morning and close to home probably not but at midday, probably yes.

Ohpleeeease · 09/08/2023 14:42

I can’t imagine anyone where I live doing it. I would notice, yes, but more likely I might think the person was unwell.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 09/08/2023 14:43

People can wear what they want when they walk the dog.

My first thought would be that it's not very practical though.

leftoversfortea · 09/08/2023 14:43

It's easy enough to pull some trackie bottoms on (on top on the PJs) isn't it? It's not like you have to don a tuxedo to walk the dog.

Maybe it creates a poor impression with some people. Are you 'bovered'?

Daphnis156 · 09/08/2023 14:44

I don't care that much, but would prefer not to see the lower orders in pyjamas, dog or no dog.

Crazycrazylady · 09/08/2023 14:45

I just assume that people jn their pjs are simply too lazy to get dressed when leaving house .

MillWood85 · 09/08/2023 14:46

I'd judge someone more for NOT walking their dog, tbh. I doubt that the dog minded.

mondaytosunday · 09/08/2023 14:46

Well I have been known to throw a long cardi over an outfit only fit for home (snd I do sleep in it) for the last trot around the block around 11pm, but middle of the day? No way. It's like the people who can't be bothered getting dressed when they take their kids to school.
Doesn't matter that you work shifts - presumably you are at home the same length of time everyone else is who works during the day. Walk the dog when dressed for work, walk the dog when you get home. How many times are you taking him out? My friend lives in a flat snd she takes hers out for proper walks twice a day and one 'comfort break'.

BarnacleBeasley · 09/08/2023 14:47

I've done it - four times in one night when Ddog had an upset tummy. He thinks he's a cat and refuses to shit in his own garden.

Pinkitydrinkity · 09/08/2023 14:47

I don’t see why anyone would go outside in pjs. It doesn’t take long to put leggings and a hoodie on!

coreas · 09/08/2023 14:48

@GoodChat

I think she means pyjamas are all she wears at home

I know what she meant!!

SisterAgatha · 09/08/2023 14:48

No id be pleased they are walking the dog. Beats buying an 11 stone animal, keeping it in a flat and then wondering why it bit your face off.

Chevrotains · 09/08/2023 14:51

I agree that it doesn't take long to get dressed, but I'm out every hour with him, he's 7 months. So it would just be irritating to keep changing and I get some people stay in jeans or suits when they're home, but I've just always put back on what I slept in the night before, have since I was a kid and got home from school! I get it's not for everyone, but just explaining

Doggymummar · 09/08/2023 14:51

Sometimes the dog acts like it's desperate for a poo so I dash out in my slippers for a quick one, but she has tricked me and we end up going to the woods, only 10 mins away but I realise I am out in my slippers and whatever I was wearing.

She is a little bugger.

Thatladdo · 09/08/2023 14:55

Personally I would only judge them if the dog was wearing pjamas.
Each to their own

wlana · 09/08/2023 14:55

No I wouldn’t judge. And I’ve done it. It was really late and dark and I was with dh. Why would anyone give a shit.

Teder · 09/08/2023 15:00

I really can’t bring myself to pass judgment on someone taking their dog for exercise. Honestly MN was the wrong place to ask, people are so uptight.

SisterBeaverhausen · 09/08/2023 15:04

There's a gentleman who takes his dog out in the morning when I take mine for his first walk and he's always on pajamas. I don't judge him he wants to be comfortable and maybe he's not ready to get showered and dressed yet? I throw on joggers and a fleece to go out first thing then shower and dress after our walk

QueenCamilla · 09/08/2023 15:11

Maybe put a bathrobe on for decency? All the Romanian mums at the school gates have deemed that legit.

CurlewKate · 09/08/2023 15:11

Reading this thread, I find myself more likely to judge the people judging than the people in pyjamas. What a horrible lot!

floribunda18 · 09/08/2023 15:12

Cloudsandrainnotsunandsand · 09/08/2023 13:57

No. Unless it's the ddog in the pj's...

My greyhound sometimes wears pjs.

But would probably be more likely wearing a coat if it was cold on her walk!
