Update - too large for flight

I posted a few weeks ago about how worried I was about fitting in the seat on the plane on our family holiday. Half of the people who replied were lovely with real life stories and practical advice. Half were really cruel and horrible. Mumsnet removed the thread due to how horrible it got. To remind everyone I am a size 24.
Well we have just returned from the most wonderful holiday in Crete. There were NO issues on the flight, other than needing a seat belt extension. We flew with Easyjet. The seats were spacious and comfy and the table in front came down completely flat. It was such a relief. Thank you to all who gave helpful advice.

So pleased you had a wonderful holiday and that all well on the flight.

MotherofGorgons · 09/08/2023 10:45

Glad you had a good time. This is often posted on here and I dont think anyone has ever been too large for the flight!

NegativNancy · 09/08/2023 10:46

Thank you so so much for posting this. I am a similar size to you and am too scared to fly currently in case I don't fit in the seat. This is really reassuring. Glad you had a lovely trip!

CastleCrasher · 09/08/2023 10:46

QueefQueen80s · 09/08/2023 11:02

So pleased it was all okay! I remember your thread, shame it got nasty.. I was 20 stone once and didn't need an extension so I guess airlines are both making bigger belts and/or spacing seats better?

BrokenBonesStixStones · 09/08/2023 11:05

I'm glad you had a lovely holiday Op and thanks for updating especially after your experience on the last thread. I'm sure this will reassure other people who are worried about the same dilemma.

Itsnotrightbutitsok · 09/08/2023 11:39

Yayyy! That sounds amazing!!

I have a friend who is a similar size and is trying her best to lose weight but it’s just taking a very long time to come off.

She booked a holiday knowing it would help her stick to her diet and exercise plan, which apparently she has been but she’s not lost as much weight as she’d have hoped and so she’s been saying she wants to cancel as she’s worried she won’t fit etc.

Your thread will help lots of people so thank you for sharing.

continentallentil · 09/08/2023 11:40

I remember - I am the same size so knew you’d be fine. Glad you had a great holiday.

Basketballqueen · 09/08/2023 11:41

Good for you. I remember that one... some people were awful.

IamfeelingHappy · 09/08/2023 12:10

Great news! Pleased you enjoyed your break

FreeRider · 09/08/2023 12:45

I didn't see the original thread, wish I had because I could have told you:

Easyjet: Fine, may need seatbelt extender, tray will come down flat

Ryanair: Will definitely need seatbelt extender, seat may feel a bit 'tight', tray will probably not come down totally flat

For the above reasons I always try and book with Easyjet over Ryanair.
