To not shower in the morning?

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 19:56

If I could, I would have two showers, AM & PM, but tbh I actually can't afford to do this due to water bill.

I simply couldn't get into clean bed sheets of an evening not showered. (Only exception if sheets are due a wash)

But I feel horrible when I haven't showered in the morning.

Do you always shower in the morning?

I don’t know how anyone can go to bed unwashed, doesn’t your bedding smell of sweat and dirty feet?

No?

I didn’t live in a house that had a working shower until I was 29. I didn’t know many people who had a shower every day when I was growing up.p, even if they had a shower in their house. A long rubber hose attached to bath taps, temperamental hot water, baths on a Sunday, and six people waiting for the bathroom in the morning are far more in line with my experiences.

This level of disgust about people who don’t shower twice a day (like there is no other way to wash) is always alien to me.

Did everyone commenting grow up in a home with a working, warm shower, that they could use, safely, at will?

I was thinking the same. We never had a shower growing up, and I lived in lots of houses without a shower as a young adult. I definitely didn't bathe every day - just a quick wash. In the last year or so I've started showering only every other day, and I still feel clean.

People who don’t shower in the morning do have a smell. They don’t seem to be aware of it.

Those people you are smelling probably haven't washed for days.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 08/08/2023 22:07

A pre-bed shower wakes me up too much. I'll have a quick wash after work but my main shower is in the morning. I'd feel riffy without a morning shower.

I change my sheets often enough but the thought of having a shower at night then being like... Yeah, I smell all sweat and popping off to work feels a bit grim.

You can always tell the morning showerers apart from the afternoon showerers.

Fizbosshoes · 08/08/2023 22:08

I vary it.
Tonight I went for a run, got really muddy and had a shower and hair wash when I got back, so I possibly won't have a shower in the morning. If I feel super tired, a quick (2 min) shower wakes me up.

I'm a definite morning shower person.

On the primary school run it was really obvious who had had a morning shower!

Wtf?

I’ve spent years doing school runs. I never ever ever ever noticed anything.

What a bizarre comment.

tillytoodles1 · 08/08/2023 22:09

Where did this obsession with being squeaky clean come from? I shower every other day, wash my pits and bits in the morning, and I never smell.

When I was a kid we bathed once a week as did most people and I don't remember any smelly kids at school, apart from one who didn't seem to bathe at all and her clothes never looked clean.

How on earth? Am l missing something here? School run showers and now being able to discerne between morning and afternoon showers. 😵‍💫

Am l living in a separate universe?

Exactly

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 08/08/2023 22:12

I only do at night after ds is in bed no time in the morning/day when he's awake

NancyJoan · 08/08/2023 22:12

If I’m very cold or tired I might have a bath before bed, but I’d still shower the next morning. I cannot remember ever having left the house without a bath or shower in the morning. It would be as bad to me as going out without cleaning my teeth.

I don’t think so, but if it does it’s because I have been hot during the night, not from dried on, day sweat that I have somehow rubbed onto the sheets through my pyjamas.

The super-sniffers always come out on these threads!
I've got a good sense of smell and I couldn't tell you (by sniffing) if members of my own family had showered morning or evening (unless they've just washed their hair and I smell the shampoo) let alone passing people at work/on the school run!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 08/08/2023 22:16

It’s even more bizarre that people go round sniffing other people, trying to find the so called superior morning shower people!

Like it’s sort of better to shower in the morning? Why?

SuperiorM · 08/08/2023 22:17

Mix and match is my approach - Mon, Tues Thurs, Sat shower; Wed and Fri hairwash shower; Sunday bath. Wed and Fri and Sun are evening the other are morning

F1ymetothetoon · 08/08/2023 22:18

I shower every morning and only on an evening if it's been an especially hot/sweaty day. I never feel "minging" and my bedding is regularly washed. I've not died yet!

EnthENd · 08/08/2023 22:19

I'm an evening shower-er. One, I'm emphatically not a morning person. Two, I've long hair and prefer not to blowdry it, so if I showered in the morning I'd be arriving at work with wet hair.

mathanxiety · 08/08/2023 22:19

I shower in the morning. I've tried doing it in the evening but I've become so conditioned to using the shower to wash the cobwebs off and wake up that I get a second wind if I shower in the evening

I sweat at night, and would feel really smelly/sweaty if I didn't shower in the morning.

DrHat · 08/08/2023 22:19

I assume all adults shower in the morning. I couldn’t go to work without showering before being in front of people. Your bed will not judge you!

CamelSilk · 08/08/2023 22:21

But if you go to bed clean, and aren't a night sweaty person, then you'll still be clean in the morning.

Showering twice a day is nuts. I assume that people who do this are either overweight, excessively sweaty, or mentally unwell.

That's a very sweeping, judgemental statement. I shower twice a day. Nothing wrong with it.

I feel cleaner and fresher.

I don’t sweat much, but I’ve never had time for morning showers.

I'd forgo anything, as long as I have my morning shower.
