To not shower in the morning?

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 19:56

If I could, I would have two showers, AM & PM, but tbh I actually can't afford to do this due to water bill.

I simply couldn't get into clean bed sheets of an evening not showered. (Only exception if sheets are due a wash)

But I feel horrible when I haven't showered in the morning.

Do you always shower in the morning?

I'd rather shower in the morning

If I'm a bit sweaty in the evening I'd freshen up at the sink

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 20:25

Thanks everyone for replies. Maybe will have to stick to 'pits & bits' in the morning only.

I don't have an issue with sweating. It's the 'bleghhh' feeling of leaving home without that freshness.

Every evening. As do DH and the kids.
I can't bear the thought of getting into bed sheets all sweaty and smelly with the grime of the day on me. None of us smell?

This is rude and uncalled for

I shower in the evening and it relaxes me for bed. I like being clean getting into bed. Never in the morning unless I've had sex (currently single 🙄) just a freshen up at the sink.

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 20:28

Something about having a shower makes me sweat, unless I can stay still/remain in a towel for at least an hour afterwards. Even if I use a hairdryer etc, I immediately get clammy and gross if I go out less than an hour if not 90m after a shower.

So I never shower when I have to leave the house soon, because it's totally wasted. Evening showers for me.

Frankenpug23 · 08/08/2023 20:29

I do both but if I had to choose morning shower would win!

SallyWD · 08/08/2023 20:30

When my children were babies I started showering in the evening. I just seemed to have more time then abd DH was available to look after them.
They're now 10 and 12 and I still only shower in the evening. I love it! And I'm sure it makes me feel sleepy and relaxed for bedtime.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 08/08/2023 20:30

Definitely in the morning, I'd feel wrong going to work without a shower, especially in the summer. In the evening only if I've been to the gym.

icelollycraving · 08/08/2023 20:31

If I had to choose one, night time. Could you just have two much shorter showers?

midsomermurderess · 08/08/2023 20:31

Don’t shout at me, but would two, five-minutes maximum showers a day really be too expensive? If it is, then morning for me. Cleanliness, going out into the day, and it wakes me up.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/08/2023 20:33

I'm a morning shower person and work out at 5am so always after training.
By the time I come to bed I'm wrecked from the day - growing up it was evening showers, as I became an adult it's morning.

TaigaSno · 08/08/2023 20:33

I prefer to shower in the morning. I sweat in bed, I imagine most people do. I couldn't feel comfortable getting dressed into clean clothes without washing. I do a sink/flannel wash before bed in the evening.

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 20:34

No you're right, it wouldn't cost a lot and would be doable. I'm just that person that somehow manages to always turn their 2 min shower into a 15 min one

Morning shower here. I couldn't go to work without showering first.

I have to wash my hair every day and there's no way it would last overnight into the next day.

MrsH101 · 08/08/2023 20:36

I do two, the morning one is cold 30-second blast. Not into wim hof or any woo woo - Im just really cheap and the shocked scream as you stand under the cold water is great practice and sets you up for the rest of the day - with small children, school holidays, winter summer weather and a cost of living crisis.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 08/08/2023 20:38

I get up far too early on the days I work in the office to shower (tiny house, noisy shower pump that would wake everyone up), so I generally shower in the evening. I'd shower twice a day every day if I could, though.

Toohotto · 08/08/2023 20:38

I love that freshly showered feel. I have 3 speed showers a day, just a couple of minutes each, or slightly longer if washing my hair. Morning, a cold one when I get home from work & then going to bed. I don't have it very hot & they are very quick showers. It's easier than having a wash at the sink. Dh thinks I'm ott but I can't function if I don't shower now.

AlmostTotallyFake · 08/08/2023 20:40

Always in the morning for me, I would feel too grotty going to work without a shower!
My husband has a manual, filthy job so he showers when he comes home from work.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 08/08/2023 20:40

I have a theory - morning showerers are more pious than evening ones and look down on us. Much like early risers/night owls.

UndercoverCop · 08/08/2023 20:41

I do a very quick shower in the evening before bed no hair washing, 2-3 minutes lavender shower oil the drop in temp after helps me sleep (at least that's the theory behind bathing babies before bed....). Quicker and can't use any more water than a sink wash really.

Morning steaming hot shower and hair wash so I feel fresh for the day. I get quite warm in bed even with windows etc open and wouldn't feel great without. I've not been at work today and had a few grotty cleaning jobs on my list this morning, so didn't shower, I felt gross by lunchtime, but I had been unblocking a drain, cleaning the kitchen bin and cleaning washing machine seals and dishwasher filters.

I also have really curly hair and if I wash it at night and not in the morning I look like Russell Brand

Jl2014 · 08/08/2023 20:42

People who don’t shower in the morning do have a smell. They don’t seem to be aware of it.

Quantumphysicality · 08/08/2023 20:43

I can’t bear the thought of not showering once the servants have cleared the plates after every meal. I feel so dirty and simply couldn’t cope.

How on earth do the poor survive, wallowing in their grime?

ReadingSoManyThreads · 08/08/2023 20:46

Although I didn't this morning, I prefer to shower in the morning. Sometimes I have night-sweats so wake up feeling icky. I don't change my jammies or sheets everyday either, so wouldn't feel right not showering in the morning. As much as I'd like to have an evening shower before bed, I generally can't be arsed. I'll only have multiple showers a day in a heatwave or if I've gotten very sweaty in the day from exercise, which is rare these days.
