To not shower in the morning?

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 19:56

If I could, I would have two showers, AM & PM, but tbh I actually can't afford to do this due to water bill.

I simply couldn't get into clean bed sheets of an evening not showered. (Only exception if sheets are due a wash)

But I feel horrible when I haven't showered in the morning.

Do you always shower in the morning?

Oh the holier than thou at both ends of the day are out in force.....

If you don't have a shower at the start of the day you're grim.

No, if you don't have one at the end of the day you're grim...

No, actually, if you don't have one at both ends of the day you're grim.

Someone will be along in a minute and say if you don't have one 10 mins after lunch as well you're grim!!

Surely it's more important that you just have whatever routine works for you. I'd rather have a shower at night but DH would rather have one in the morning. If we're going to the gym we'll have 2 in a day. If I wake up after a hot night and feel a wash won't cut it, I'll have one in the morning too - even though I hate every second!! If DH has been gardening or something, he'll have one at night too. Neither one of us leaves the house, or goes to bed dirty or smelly, we just have different preferences that work for us.

Basketscoswhynot · 08/08/2023 22:27

I'm agog people don't shower in the morning. Unless you have a manual job, but an office job and no shower before is 😮to me!

skippy67 · 08/08/2023 22:28

I shower every other day, wash my pits and bits in the morning, and I never smell

I bet you do a bit.

midsomermurderess · 08/08/2023 22:29

'Surely it's more important that you just have whatever routine works for you'. Ya think? Mumsnet, home of the bleeding obvious.

AlfietheSchnauzer · 08/08/2023 22:01

Same! Don't worry we are in the vast majority. This is just Mumsnet where people compete in the 'Shower Regularity Olympics' and are going for that gold medal of who showers the most often and "cannot understand anyone who doesn't shower every day" It's utter bollocks! 🤣
I find it entertaining

Curly hair here too. If I washed it more than twice a week it would be like a fluff ball kinda soft afro look. I also want to say, I do shower frequently but think to be truly clean a bath at least once a week is a must for me. I actually don’t enjoy showering at all, so cold afterwards not like baths

Utter rubbish, the more you wash the quicker the smell returns. It’s like shaving

I assume all adults shower in the morning. I couldn’t go to work without showering before being in front of people. Your bed will not judge you!

Until I joined MN I wasn't aware anyone (apart from DH) would know/care/judge when I showered!

golddustwomen · 08/08/2023 22:31

Shower every morning. I would feel grotty and most definitely smell if I didn't. I sweat a lot even in cold weather.

TokyoSushi · 08/08/2023 22:32

I'm a staunch morning showerer, I honestly couldn't bear to go about my day without my morning shower & hair wash!

ecosystem · 08/08/2023 22:33

We bang out about 1 - 2 litres of sweat at night. I would opt for a morning shower, and a night wash.

SuperiorM · 08/08/2023 22:33

Showering twice daily not very planet friendly

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/08/2023 22:33

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 20:25

Thanks everyone for replies. Maybe will have to stick to 'pits & bits' in the morning only.

I don't have an issue with sweating. It's the 'bleghhh' feeling of leaving home without that freshness.

2 minutes to freshen up in the shower in the morning and a longer one in the evening. Set a shower timer?

MolkosTeenageAngst · 08/08/2023 22:35

If I’ve showered before bed I would only shower again in the morning on very hot nights where I feel like I’ve been sweaty or in situations like having a heavy period/ issues with bedwetting etc. I don’t shower every day either although I’m aware that is almost akin to never showering on mumsnet!

So you never smell then? lucky you

Onnonotagainhuh · 08/08/2023 22:42

I shower in the morning because I feel barely awake without.

I don't feel dirty most evenings and mostly jump straight in to bed. I wash my feet if I've been in sandals.

If I can't shower in the morning I'll use a flannel on my face and pits.

I shower every day, and always after exercise, but not always twice a day . Hopefully I dont smell offensive , I'm fairly sure I dont...

LuckySantangelo35 · 08/08/2023 22:51

Does anyone wash their hair every morning ?

Showering twice daily not very planet friendly

True, but I think most people have the odd thing in their life that they would find it hard to give up even if it’s not totally planet-friendly.

I shower morning and evening but I haven't driven since the 90s, haven’t flown in 12 years, don’t own a tumble drier, don’t own a dog…I have a climate-friendly life in many ways so I feel okay about the showers. (Which, anyway, are still quicker than many people’s one shower.) They go a long way towards helping me function.

megansmarkle · 08/08/2023 22:53

A shower takes three minutes.

I'm sure you can afford.

Probably not if you are that conscientious. My initial point being if you didn’t have the luxury of showering more than once a day, I would rather smell fresh when meeting people than meeting my bed (which is washed regularly too!).

LuckySantangelo35 · 08/08/2023 22:51

I don't but as well as not realising others were sniffing judging me for when/how often I showered, I didn't know I would also be judged for going out with wet hair (which I do frequently) 🤣

I'd love to get a body blow dryer. I hate drying myself lol. Always bits of me that are damp and I can't get my bra on properly (I'm a twist it around gal).

I do use a hairdryer under my towelly dressing gown instead of or in addition to a towel. But this is what I want.....

Amazon.com: Viatek Body Dryer - Dry Off All Excess Water in Seconds - Blast You Body with Streaming Air of 100mph for Quick Dry- Environmentally Friendly - Can Be Used at Home and Bathroom - Supports up to 350lb

I shower and wash often, no one but me is interested in how often.

OMG. I would love one of those!!! But the price Shock

Pearl clutchers will faint when I say I don’t bathe/shower every day (more like every other day) unless I’ve been really active or am grimy. I also wash my hair twice a week (gasp). My hair is curly so I also brush it twice a week with my twice weekly wash 😂. I promise you I don’t smell although I’m sure I’ll be told here I do! I also get compliments on my hair often for the record 😅 (I suppose I do save money on hair products and water although I never thought it was that minging to wash every other day lol)

in short you’ll be fine but I am apparently in the minging minority lol

I too usually only shower every second day, and I only wash my hair once a week, and never brush it (also curly).

I'm happy to join the minging minority with you.

EmilyBrontesGhost · 08/08/2023 23:07

When I was a child, there were no showers.

We had a bath once a week, Sunday evening, ready to start the new week.

No, we didn't smell, no-one will smell if they wash their important bits every day.

I do hope none of the "I shower more than you shower" brigade on this thread aren't also posting on threads about "saving the planet" 🙄
