To not shower in the morning?

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 19:56

If I could, I would have two showers, AM & PM, but tbh I actually can't afford to do this due to water bill.

I simply couldn't get into clean bed sheets of an evening not showered. (Only exception if sheets are due a wash)

But I feel horrible when I haven't showered in the morning.

Do you always shower in the morning?

I'm a bath at night type of girl, don't smell in the morning as I had a bath the night before, clean PJ's and clean bedding, not sure how I'd smell in the morning 🤷‍♀️

Noicant · 08/08/2023 21:46

I’m trying to cut down from 2 showers to 1 due to dry skin. I need that morning shower otherwise I feel grotty all day. I eventually adjusted to not having an evening shower but it felt weird.

I cannot go to bed without bathing or showering, however late or unwell I feel I have to be clean before getting into bed.
I rarely shower in the morning, I do wash my hair though because it’s frequently sticking up all over the place.
I don’t know how anyone can go to bed unwashed, doesn’t your bedding smell of sweat and dirty feet?

I go to bed without showering. My bed doesn't stink.

I didn’t live in a house that had a working shower until I was 29. I didn’t know many people who had a shower every day when I was growing up.p, even if they had a shower in their house. A long rubber hose attached to bath taps, temperamental hot water, baths on a Sunday, and six people waiting for the bathroom in the morning are far more in line with my experiences.

This level of disgust about people who don’t shower twice a day (like there is no other way to wash) is always alien to me.

Did everyone commenting grow up in a home with a working, warm shower, that they could use, safely, at will?

SheerLucks · 08/08/2023 21:47

I'm a definite morning shower person.

On the primary school run it was really obvious who had had a morning shower!

NEmama · 08/08/2023 21:48

Yanbu unless you've been shagging

People who don’t shower in the morning do have a smell. They don’t seem to be aware of it.

Do tell, how do you actually know when someone has had a shower? The only people I have ever been able to smell obviously haven't had a shower for quite some time, most people don't smell at all and I'm sure some of them are evening shower people.

dramoy · 08/08/2023 21:50

I have a quick shower after my morning workout , another shower after my afternoon run & then a bath before bed. I'd like to have another shower as sometimes I do more exercise but I'm really environmentally conscious.

BeyondMyWits · 08/08/2023 21:51

Menopausal mess... I shower in the morning, night sweats make it not worth showering before bed.

DojaPhat · 08/08/2023 21:52

Tbh it was merely 3 years ago that people discovered the importance of hand-washing so I'm not in the least bit surprised that showering, or lack thereof, requires a great deal of mental gymnastics to reconcile with for a lot of people.

Yeah but how clean are your judgy pants ?

justasking111 · 08/08/2023 21:54

Pre kids bath every night. Post baby sleep deprived early morning showers just to wake up. Two further children I gave up on relaxing baths ever. So stuck to the morning routine of a shower. OH showers before bed or earlier if he's mucky after his DIY projects.

Ydkiml · 08/08/2023 21:54

i couldn’t leave the house without a shower in the morning.

I shower every 90 minutes otherwise I get itchy.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 You slattern!

Bonfire23 · 08/08/2023 21:55

I only shower in the evening as I exercise then, and don't smell at all
Plus my antiperspirant is one that's used at night

BadLad · 08/08/2023 21:56

TomatoSandwiches · 08/08/2023 19:58

I do both but would opt for a morning shower if I had to choose.

Yep. This.

Absolute nonsense! 🤣🙄

kitsuneghost · 08/08/2023 21:58

I shower every second night with no issues
But depends on the person. Some people sweat more than others.
Also people that smoke or have pets may need to shower more.
If you are comfortable and don't smell then there is no issues

How stinky are you?

I mostly shower in the morning and my bedding never smells. My feet have never smelt in my whole life. DH is a different story but he does have a nightly shower.

Pearl clutchers will faint when I say I don’t bathe/shower every day (more like every other day) unless I’ve been really active or am grimy. I also wash my hair twice a week (gasp). My hair is curly so I also brush it twice a week with my twice weekly wash 😂. I promise you I don’t smell although I’m sure I’ll be told here I do! I also get compliments on my hair often for the record 😅 (I suppose I do save money on hair products and water although I never thought it was that minging to wash every other day lol)

in short you’ll be fine but I am apparently in the minging minority lol

Same! Don't worry we are in the vast majority. This is just Mumsnet where people compete in the 'Shower Regularity Olympics' and are going for that gold medal of who showers the most often and "cannot understand anyone who doesn't shower every day" It's utter bollocks! 🤣
I find it entertaining

Miyagi99 · 08/08/2023 22:02

I sweat like a bastard at night so need to shower in the morning, I’d need to wash my hair anyway for work. I’ll shower in the evening if it’s been hot but no way would I shower before bed in the winter, I’d be freezing!

MissTrip82 · 08/08/2023 22:02

I do both and use a timer - we’re in and out of drought where I live so it’s been the norm for me for years to limit time in the shower. The timer is set for 2 minutes - four minutes if washing my hair.

I work 12 hr shifts it would be pretty horrible for other staff and patients to get to the end of that shift and be 24 hours out from my last shower.

CamelSilk · 08/08/2023 22:03

I have my bath or shower in the evening, not in the morning.

10HailMarys · 08/08/2023 22:03

As long as I have a shower at some point on most days, I’m not especially bothered when it is. If you shower before bed, you’re not going to be grubby and smelly after a night’s sleep - but I think a lot of people feel more awake after a shower, don’t they? I go for a run in the evening a few times a week, so on those days I definitely need to shower before bed! But I don’t generally feel I need to shower again the next morning. On other days I tend to have a morning shower.
