To not shower in the morning?

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 19:56

If I could, I would have two showers, AM & PM, but tbh I actually can't afford to do this due to water bill.

I simply couldn't get into clean bed sheets of an evening not showered. (Only exception if sheets are due a wash)

But I feel horrible when I haven't showered in the morning.

Do you always shower in the morning?

Both. I don't stay in long so it won't make much difference to bills.

CallieQ · 10/08/2023 23:56

Anyone who has 2 showers a day is selfish and does not care about the planet

Steady on. It's much less harmful than having children tbh.

Depends. Sometimes morning, sometimes evening (definitely evening on bed change day) and occasionally (gasp) I’ll shower in the evening and not have another until the morning after next! That depends on whether I have been sweaty or not during the day, so less likely in summer.
However, underwear and tops or dresses are always only worn once, while overwear (cardies, hoodies, sweatshirts not worn directly next to sweat glands) and trousers are worn up to 6 times before washing, so I’m never smelly!

😂

You’d be horrified to hear that on a gym day, I have THREE showers a day. AND I drive there. 😮

Toohotto · 11/08/2023 16:42

I also think it's quicker to jump in the shower for a couple of minutes than wash at the sink. I shower in the morning & evening, but they are very quick & very cool. I don't have the shower on full power so I will use less water & heat than someone having a longer shower/bath once a day. Theefore I feel no guilt to the environment for having 2 a day.

LlynTegid · 11/08/2023 17:04

Yes I do.

I would feel I was being inconsiderate to work colleagues and others if I did not, in addition to how I'd feel.

Some of you must live in truly filthy cities with high levels of pollution to feel like this.

I live rurally in one of the most remote areas in the U.K. and our air is fresh and clean. I never feel "grimy" by the end of the day.

Fine is you live rurally and just sit about all day -do yoU work ? are you physically active ?

CallieQ · 12/08/2023 00:52

Well you should! 2 a day is ridiculous and unnecessary

@PuffyShirt

Why do you think this is funny? Are you really so selfish and ignorant that you feel you can ignore the damage being done to the planet by people like you

CallieQ · 12/08/2023 00:56

@Thatbloodyhedge

Another ignorant poster

BrainTumourGirl · 12/08/2023 00:59

Are you on a water meter? Cold showers are wonderful if you acclimatize yourself to them. Then you can move on to cold baths. Lots of health benefits to both practices (google cold water therapy).

Aquaphant · 12/08/2023 01:01

I have a long bath every night and a very quick shower in the morning before work. I don't mind getting into bed without bathing first as I don't sleeping naked, but the evening bath is part of my winding down routine every night. I also can't go to bed with wet hair and can't be bothered to style it at night before bed, so that has to be done in the morning.

KajsaKavat · 12/08/2023 01:07

I hate showers, and I would hate them in the morning more than any other time. I do evening baths.

Somanycats · 12/08/2023 01:15

So embarrassingly privileged

Toohotto · 12/08/2023 02:46

@CallieQ out if interest, what is your bathing routine?
I have a power shower which I don't have on full pelt so I save water.
Our water company had a save water & energy drive a few years ago & supplied egg timers that suction onto wall tiles as a guide for their recommended time in the shower. I don't even get half way through it.
I fail to see how my 2 minute (at the most) cool to cold evening shower & my 3 minute slightly warmer morning shower (to wash my short hair) is any worse than a longer & hotter once a day shower or bath? Explain to me how? I am not using any more water or heating than a once a day person, nor any more than a person having a good hot strip wash at the sink

You are misunderstanding a strip wash if you think it uses a lot of water, the point to it is that it doesn't. Fill a sink, use a flannel.

Shower every other day, wash in between... perfectly adequate

nosepierce · 12/08/2023 22:30

I'm mentally unwell and I have 4/5 very quick showers a day. Drives me mad but it's a compulsion😢

Would halving the time of each shower work instead?

Really? Confused

moanyhole · 13/08/2023 01:03

I shower in the evening, couldn't get into bed not showered. In the mornings I am up before the others and would wake them if I showered but I do freshen up with a flannel at the sink so I feel fresh going to work
